Posted April 18, 200816 yr **UPDATED** Well - I wanted to do something different. I realized it's quite fun working with elements people deem unusable in system - Mostly bionicle. What could be cooler than fusing bionicle with one of the coolest forms of space ships? A large bionicle battle cruiser? I'm taking up my self condoned challenge. The name - The Amaranth. It means a Never fading flower (usually thought to be purple). Ok, lame name, but it sounds cool. It kinda fits.. Anyways, I want to open the thread saying I am open to all suggestions. I want your input! Think of something cool to put in a big ship? I want to hear about it. Is there something you've never seen before in a capitol ship, or battle cruiser, you've never seen before, but want to see? Just ask! I've started at some of the easiest portions - The bridge, and the engine. I first built the engine, which came from the frame of a sentai fortress tower Also - I have acquired a tripod! No more blurr's from me! The massive wings, and the bridge. This gives you alittle taste of how big this thing, will be. I tried to fuse in some parts people would deem unusable (is that my motto or something?), note the bionicle heads here. I used them to top the intake things, almost as if its a grinning evil smile. 10+ inches I tried to add in some flare, to make the wings not just open slates of boringness. Note the matching black and yellow checkerboards, matching the bridge. Also, the vents, and alas, my favourite, the veins coming out from the head bionicle thing. This thing is a bio-machine, it is alive! The underside. Two heavy bombs, two big blades, and two small blades. These serve a purpose! ... so the small blades, you see.. ... are landing gear! Pictures don't do the beefiness of these things justice. Again, my favorite part. So, I hope with this update, I will atleast gain some more fans of this project! People don't seem to like this idea much or something! Thank's for lookin' any who, really appreciate and love comments, suggestions, etc,.. Oh, and remember.. April 18, 200816 yr Both sections look already marvelous. The engine´s just perfect bionically, and the cockpit fits very well too, fine and detailed, although I personally prefer airlocks that´re actually working as an entrance. With that design it seems like you´re not planning some additional crew quarters, so the next thing´s the obligational weapon platform I guess.... hmm, perhaps it would be interesting to see this evolve into a space transporter with some kind of cool and coupling container system, though. Maybe it would work as a dropship too, with some neat tank vehicle attached, or an experimental lab, or a weird excavator machine.... Oh, so much possibilities....
April 18, 200816 yr Absolutely stunning!! If these are just the bridge and the engine, how big will be the finished one?
April 18, 200816 yr Lovin what you've got so far. Keep going the way you're going and this is gonna be awesome. SHOOP DA WOOP
April 19, 200816 yr Author Thanks all, had abit of time today so got one of the wings done. It's huuuge. I will need to buy another set to supplement before I build the other one I'm planning on having 4 wings, 2 main ones, and two smaller fins, near strait up, at the back. I will take picture's once I'm satisfied with one of the wings
April 19, 200816 yr Awesome work. I love the incorporation of BIONICLE and system, flows very well and the cockpit is pretty spacey too. O.O
April 21, 200816 yr Author Expect updates within the next few days. I just finished both the main wings. Boy, what a task. And I can tell you, this thing has a wing span of over TWO feet. Kinna big methinks? Thanks for the comments so far, I know it's not very interesting yet, but..
April 22, 200816 yr Author Updated! (Old first post moved down to here) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image002.jpg I'm using alot of tentacles and those cool bionicle flaps. I think they make a great engine, or is it just me? It took some tricky and unorthadox methods, but I got it all to connect firmly. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image003.jpg Yay, flaps. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image004.jpg Next, the bridge. So the design has been done before. But have you seen it in trans red? Oh? With the gaining of two toa terrain crawlers, it made this part possible. Trans red looks very cool, and these sets fueled my bionicle parts, and tentacle supply, greatly. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image006.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image007.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image008.jpg On the back there is an air lock, some bionicle, and some more tentacles. The air lock is the black dome, same part from the top of Sandy's rocket. Yes, that was not a new part, it's been used in this awesome forgotten set! http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image009.jpg There's also a little vent. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image010.jpg Mm. Trans red winscreens. Plenty of room to add the controls for later, when I start detailing! And a palm tree. Don't ask. Also note my patented yellow and black checker insignia. I've used this on many of my models. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/MarkofBr...ne/image001.jpg Hope you enjoyed so far, Thank you for looking, keep tuned for updates! (I think some wing's may be next..) Edited April 22, 200816 yr by Brickmaster
April 22, 200816 yr Merry Christmas to you too bud! Wow, those wings are large, very large. I'm alittle confused though, what kind of ship are you going for? I'm not seeing much of a capitol ship just yet Anyway, I can already tell this thing is going to be quite large, just look at those wings! I'm eagerly awaiting the end!
April 22, 200816 yr Author Merry Christmas indeed! Capitol ship wise, it will end up beinginfluenced by the dragonstar, or any other large cruiser like it. Ok, Mine will be nowhere as good, but it's where I'm taking some inspiration Right now I am building the components to attach to the main cylindrical part of the ship - once built. Oh, and for an idea on size, I will be using this piece as the headpiece, or front of the ship. I love using pieces like that. Thanks for the reply!
April 23, 200816 yr This thing looks insane, but in a good way. I love the way you try to incorporate colour into all your mocs. Looking forward to see how you use the big bionicle mask.
April 23, 200816 yr Those wings look great and massive indeed, I´m pretty curios about they way your project´ll evolve....
April 23, 200816 yr Looks great sofar. I'll be following this build. One question though, whats that "Imma Chargin' Mah Lazah" all about? The only other reference i've seen was on an adult site. Edited April 23, 200816 yr by sir dano
April 23, 200816 yr Author Thank you graciously for all the comments guys! At first I thought it was a waste of time to do updates, but if people are actually following them, I shall keep 'em coming! Right now, as I type infact, I am fiddling with using the large bionicle mask. It is so annoying to build with, especially with the techniques I'm using, because it's so fiddly unless the whole thing is supported, but when it's all done, this won't be a problem. It looks insane? Just how I wanted it, I love this comment I will keep this updated, thanks guys! And.. about the imma chargin my lazer, it originates from an anonymous picture forum board, the original is a picture of cell, from dragon ball z, and proclaiming he is either charging or firing his lazer (with aweful paintshopped red lips and googly eyes). This also gained the name 'Shoop da woop!' (someone said this in their comment). When you awefully add that face to a photo, it's called shooping it Here is the original: Shoop da woop! Just like internet meme's (fads, basically) you can trace it's origins to this picture board, but, It's not exactly a nice place to visit. Other example's of meme's are the 'do you leik mudkipz?' and the 'motivational posters'. Aswell as a personal favorite, the /facepalm. (If you have no idea what these mean.. there are stories behind them too..)
April 27, 200816 yr Haha, I'm loving the fact that you know the ENTIRE history of Shooping ^.~ Anywho, brilliant ship you've got here - the bridge design is awesome (and since you used that trans-red part at the top, it can open!), the wings are HUGE (and incorporate Bionicle well, kudos for that), and the engine is the most awesome piece of Bionicle/System fusion I've seen in a LONG time. Meanwhile, on the subject of that mask, I know what you mean - I've got one of those somewhere; it's a real pain in the rear to build with...not the sturdiest piece ever. But, if you haven't already got the entire area planned out, may I submit an idea? Perhaps you could hide a laser cannon inside the "mouth" of the giant mask? (Then your ship could FIRE ITS LAZER too ^.~) ~Trexxen [EDIT: I almost forgot! Awesome name; are you a Nightwish fan? ^.^] Edited April 27, 200816 yr by Trexxen
April 27, 200816 yr Woah, those wings are awesome! And let me say that I like the fact that you are using that black mask. Somehow It seems right for the cruiser. Is this for toa or bad guys? If it is bad guys that blue piraka mask wouldn't look too bad...
April 27, 200816 yr Man, we seriously need to see more of this. I'm loving that you're tackling a really hard genere - combination of bionicle and system. The sections you built are looking great. And am I right in thinking that the bionicle figures from the playsets will be manning the ship? Cool. More, please! I could use a second course of this.
April 28, 200816 yr Author Heya Trexxen, Thanks for your comment! I am, indeed, A Nightwish fan, among many, many other good bands And also, Yes! In fact I was going to put a huge old laser out of the mouth. Gun building isn't one of the quicker things I do, though, it takes alot for me to be happy with some gun that I build. Do you have any sort of example you'd like to see? For a laser as big as this I haven't seen many. Also I plan to build in a red visor on the inside for the mask, just to see how that looks. Thanks gloriously for your comment! VBBN, It's both sides ship I guess, because I'll be using both sides to man the bridge, but I'd like to think of it as evil! And Grevious, thank you! I like that atleast afew acknowledge how hard it can be to infuse bionicle, thank you for that. And indeed, you are correct in saying the mini's will be piloting the ship! Except they won't be on their old bodies, they will be on their minifigure bodies. (thanks to abit of customizing, that is possible!) As an update report.. Right now I've been building the very front of the ship - Now here is where some real building comes in. Progress is slow, but I really like how it's looking. I also need to buy yet another set to supplement my parts. A new update could be sometime this week, or next, I'm not to tally sure. And, I also have a dilemma. If I keep posting updates in here, the thread title still looks the same, will people check it regularly for updates, or expect me to make a new thread for that? Thank you guys!
April 28, 200816 yr Hmm. Type of cannon, eh? Well, do you have any of the Phantoka Makuta? If so, take one of those black half-pod parts (the ones that come in trans-blue in the Barraki Deep Sea Patrol set), and use that inverted (so that the tip is facing into the barrel) as the tip of it, then attach a Tridax Pod to the inside of the pod. Creates a nice little "charging laser" effect, and if need be, you can use the other end of the pod's connection point to put some trans-orange cylinders and a cone and make it look like it's firing, like in the UCS Death Star. (I was going to use that as the basis for a black fantasy creature, but I scrapped the plan due to lack of tentacles =P) And also, yay, a fellow Nightwish fan! I recognized the name instantly because I had just heard the song a few days ago, lol. ~Trexxen
April 28, 200816 yr Author Any pictures to help aswell? I think I got it, but, I've been playin around with other styles too, maybe Ill make afew and see which one peoples like best?
