HandofBobb Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 so, I just found out the great news that folks here have been able to add new parts to LDD- I went to the pinned thread and downloaded all the files linked, but have a couple questions before I get started updating: 1) it looks like the New Parts.RAR file linked is the most recent version, so I assume I only need that one and not each individual update, but which of the various LXF files do I need? 2) my eyesight has taken a turn for the worse recently, and I was already having some issues with the decal selection- has anyone figured out a way to increase the zoom on that palatte? Forgive me if a similar question has been posted, but I didnt see a topic, and didnt want to junk up the OP... Quote
ExeSandbox Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Hi there, it is great new indeed that the folks have been adding new parts to LDD! For your question: 1) Yes, you only need the latest update when adding the new parts. I think the LXF files are provided to showcase the new stuff added, not the actual files to add the parts. 2) I don't know about that unfortunately. I try to avoid using the decal selection in LDD altogether.... Quote

List of Second Round Changes “localizedStrings.loc” file under the “EN” folder: Made sure that there is a space between all “Tr.” and the next word (some I forgot to fix last time) and other minor typos fixed. “localizedStrings.loc” file under the “DE” folder: Additional text localisation applied for many Colours (e.g., Lemon→Zitrone, Cool→Cooles, Warm→Warmes, Metallic→Metallisk) and other minor typos fixed, all “Light” changed to “Helles” and all “Medium” changed to “Mittel” (when I last updated this file a number of “Medium” were accidentally changed to “Helles” while others remained as “Medium”, while most “Light” were not changed at all), changed the last few “Blue” into “Blau” and “Green” into “Grün” (“grün” is always used when incorporated into the back of a word). The download Link was missing, then I accidentally posted a new reply after editing the previous post, so here goes nothing. Edited November 19, 2021 by suenkachun Quote
suenkachun Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Just found a collision error regarding Part 67810 Brick W/ Bow 2x2x1 1/3. As shown above, it is currently possible to insert a Flat Tile or any Bricks longer than one through the top part on either side due to missing collision data, but the rest of the Brick is completely fine. In addition, I guess that Stud of the Medium Stone Grey 2x2 Brick underneath the Red Brick disappeared due to culling which is an optimisation (all studs underneath other parts get removed, this improves handling a lot). bjwhitbeck Posted November 27, 2021 Posted November 27, 2021 Is it possible to add part numbers 3070a (1X1 Tile without groove), 3069a (1X2 Tile without groove), and 3068a (2X2 Tile without groove)? They do not have grooves, which look so much better when used on top edges of models. A million thanks. They are in StudIO. 3070b, 3069b, and 3068b are the ones that have grooves in StudIO. In LDD they are just 3070, 3069, and 3068 respectively without the a and b designations. If there is a tutorial out there, I would love to contribute as I use LDD all the time. Quote
Qahne Posted November 30, 2021 Posted November 30, 2021 I've noticed there's an issue with the mesh for part "67887" , the pig head piece - the vertex normals for the .G and the .G1 part don't match and it leaves a very visible discontinuity between the head and the square around the eyes, could this be fixed? Thanks! Quote

Not sure how to convert it to .g or if it's useful to you but here it is as a simple .obj file.http://www.simfileshare.net/download/2827642/ Quote

tjrayner Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Hi all, I'm new to LDD but really enjoying it so far. I'm missing a few parts and can't find them anywhere is anyone able to help, I need 11477, 15068, 18976 & 18977. Any help would be greatly appreciated Quote
Jaco Posted December 15, 2021 Posted December 15, 2021 Those parts are all available I think? What version are you using? Quote
tjrayner Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I'm on the latest version 4.3.12 was the download although in the app it says 4.3.11 I've even tried installing older versions to see if they show but still no joy Quote
Jaco Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 (edited) OK, I see. I have checked with 11477 which is not in the normal basic version, but is in the Extended version. I cannot post better screenshots, but here is the normal version filter on part 11477 you see it is not there. The second screenshot is the Extended version filter on 11477 so you see it is there. BrokenEye Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 Why does LDD even have the basic theme? Quote
Jaco Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 I guess that is heritage to the very beginning of LDD when you could model and order a design. I think in the basic mode back then were bricks that were actually available to order. In the extended version for instance you can make any brick any color I think. In theory you could not have ordered that design back then. Now I think there are still only bricks in the basic mode there that actually exist in the available color. Quote
SylvainLS Posted December 16, 2021 Posted December 16, 2021 On the availability of parts: 4.3.12 is crap, use 4.3.11… and be sure to correctly clean 4.3.12 before, especially your user’s directory. (You can search this thread for details, it’s been said ad nauseam so it shouldn’t be hard to find). On the basic mode: Maybe the parts that were available there really existed when you could order them… but that’s not true now and that has not been true for at least as long as 2014 (when I came out of my Dark Ages and discovered LDD & BrickLink). There’s multiple examples of parts in colours that are not and never were produced by LEGO in basic mode. Quote

OK, didn't know. My main tools for digital LEGO are LDraw based and lately a bit more Stud.io. I love the feature in Stud.io where you can find bricks you use that are not available in the color you want, but Stud.io can search and replace those with colors that (nearly) match. Quote

I checked all of the latest Colour Files of LDD again after the missing download link last time, everything is now perfect and ready to go. If this can be included in a near-future LDD update, please make sure to use the second and newest version in the above post. The updated download link can also be found here just in case, and as a quick recap: these files make sure that LDD now includes the complete set of values (including “RGBA”, official English Name and correctly translated corresponding German Name) of 185 official LEGO colours (all inconsistency issues between English Names and German Names were fixed and a few new colours were added while the majority were already in LDD), although I did not enable any additional colours in LDD Extended (P.S., thanks to “Notepad++” which enabled swift and simple editing of the two “.loc” files). Looking forward to the next update as usual and keep up the great work! Quote

SylvainLS Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 Name is Vibrant Yellow. But I don’t know the number and Ryan Howerter’s list is “being updated.” Quote
