Here is a CSV (separator ‘;’ (semi-colon), with headers) with the parts that:

  • are not in LDD,
  • are available in LDraw,
  • have usage dates in BL.

I tried to clean that long list (from 1011 to 672 parts):

  • removed Quatro and Primo  but left Duplo (some people use them as filler),
  • removed assemblies (there’s a lot of them in BL: wheel + tyre for instance),
  • removed subparts / incomplet parts, sometimes added assemblies instead.

There might still be “strange” parts or I might have removed some I shouldn’t have.

Also, some parts are not very well placed in this list because they didn’t appear in many sets but they could be very useful (e.g. Monorail! wink-wink-nudge-nudge).

Anyway, that’s a good base to see if a part may be useful.

Link corrected.

Sorry there still are too many parts.  I thought I shouldn’t force my views / needs and let you pick what you prefer to work on.

So the parts aren't showing up in my LDD. I followed all the steps.

Is it cause LIF-Extractor-Win-64bit isn't in the appdata lego digital designer folder?

Did you rename db.lif?

That would be the “New parts” diagram with the same for “Not in LDD”:

Great, that's the data I wanted to see (obviously the useful data is a list of parts). So it seems that 1996? 1997? is the year where parts count increased dramatically.
So my proposal is to concentrate the efforts on bricks released before this year in order to complete this finite finite set.

I didn't thought so many old parts are missing in LDD, are old variants included in the graphics?

About Duplo parts, I think we could give them very low priority at the moment.

I have the same problem with this part. I will look into it for the newest parts pack.

Just one question, I render a lot of my LDD projects with BlueRender and after importing this new list of pieces I get an error saying that BlueRender cannot locate the db. lif file and i need to manually add it. How do I return the extracted file back to a .LIF file?

I don’t think LDD has the right connection Types to support Duplo.

Bottom tube connection?

The skirt is missing its .g file.  We talked about it a few days ago.

1997-1998.  2000 is a low and “creativity” explodes again in 2001-2004.

No, but that doesn’t change much (I didn’t want to spam the topic with more and more graphs):

new_parts_variants.png

The interesting bits in the graph is that green is almost nowhere (by definition, green ≥ yellow) and purple isn’t very visible either (purple ≥ blue), especially before 2002.

As I said, there are errors and parts we are not interested in (Quatro…) but they don’t modify the trends much.

Yes, as I said, I let them because I don’t want to decide (interestingly, they are the most “useful”).  They are not that numerous (84) and rather simple.  And if they can’t be added anyway, they are even less of a problem.

I think we would need a specific male connector type for the Duplo Studs to allow 2x2 bricks to be placed but for ex 2x2 plates not.  With the existing types I don’t see that possibility.
