While testing my latest train GBC module I needed a fresh battery - so I selected a spare one from my stock that already contained batteries.

I found all  the batteries were leaking as shown on image. I used Alkaline batteries in the past but now use re-chargables.

Now checked all my display models and found others that also showed signs of leaking.

Now removing all batteries from my display models to prevent any damage to them.

Opened up the battery box from my 42030 and this is what was inside :damn:

Now getting all the batteries taken out of my PF sets and spare battery boxes. Shudder to think what’ll be found.

I've noticed this on a few occasions too, although only with the AA boxes not the AAA boxes. I used the same brand alkaline batteries (Kodak MAX) in all the boxes.

This was from a set I bought used. I usually use Duracell Ultra or Varta Industrial AA’s in mine as they’re guaranteed leakproof for upto 10yrs (the key word here is ‘upto’). Until now I’ve had no reason to doubt these claims but I’ll have to see what’s inside my boxes when they’re checked.

Well, you used JCB batteries in a Volvo loader, Grum! What did you expect?

So technically they are also guaranteed leakproof upto a thousand years? Good marketing, but not so good batteries apparently.
