Hi guys,

I am 14yrs old (you can ban me anyway I won't come back to this site) and I am from Lithuania. I had crazy idea of building a lego technic car which could climb steep hills and after switching gears could drive pretty fast on a flat surface.

I planned to use some 3rd party parts for this:

1. 3d printed hubs in 8880 supercar stylehttps://www.shapeways.com/product/PS74T8S2G/wheelholders-in-8880-supercar-style?optionId=57210105&li=marketplace;Female universaljoint adaptor for piece 2907https://www.shapeways.com/product/594DUQXXV/female-universaljoint-adaptor-for-piece-2907?;optionId=57073918&li=marketplace;Torsen Diff 36 Zhttps://www.shapeways.com/product/VP2EZPT6M/torsen-diff-36-z?optionId=43738074&li=marketplace

2.buwizz or sbrick with 3rd party battery

3. 3rd party tyres rc4wd

I made an almost functional drivetrain model in stud.io  using sariel's designed gearbox ( he claims it's his sturdiest one)http://sariel.pl/2015/04/4-speed-compact-sequential-transmission-v11/

I wanted to make something similar to this6ba7775ea1c4069d60e43ee8da2c08ad.jpg

here's stud.io file https://bricksafe.com/files/lithuanian_lego_fan/Rally mustang 1969.io

I gave up because I realized that it'd be very expensive and hard to finish.

I hope that one of you guys will bring this crazy idea to life...

Looks like it could be awesome build. Don’t give up just build with what you have and slowly work on as you get parts. That’s what I did with my IndyCar.

Edit: maybe try fewer 3rd party parts

LOL why did u bother to reveal your age? After all, people here won't care if you don't act like a kid.

You and I belong to the same breed... from one of the endangered species...    so to me, your idea is perfectly normal! I have similar ideas, only that I plan to include Arduino for transmission control (i.e. automatic transmission) and I'm targeting for perfect steering geometry, in my next build.

Don't give it up if you still have the passion... just do it slowly, like I'm doing now (not just budget, but also the need for time to figure out how to solve certain issues to do with high rpm). Granted, not many appreciate our ideas and ideals, but we do it to challenge ourselves!

I built one car, with not so much functions, mostly paying attentions to look, for some 2 years, with some 3 attempts, always disassembling in between, at the end even changed scale to smaller.

Don't give up, just continue, don't hurry. Build some official lego sets in between, maybe You find something usefull there.

Don't give up. Like the other say build with what you have. Belive that eventually it will be done, that is what keeps me going. It is not uncommon than it build a certain part of a MOC 10-20 times before I am happy. But again it is okay to have a long break, I stopped with LEGO when I was about your age but then I started 3 years ago (I am 38 now). LEGO can give such a good understanding for 3D understanding, drawing and instructions interpretation, mechnical functions and much more, all while it is fun and frustrating.
