I thought it was from the Castle theme, but perhaps it is from the Pirates theme? Haven't had any luck finding it on Bricklink, but probably because I can't get the search results narrowed down enough.

Ok, after considerable time searching, I finally got lucky... The torso appears to be from the Series 4 Viking minifigure.

I was thinking it might be an official pre-assembled minifigure, but the torso alone shows that it is not.

The legs are from the Series 17 Gladiator.  Not sure about the face off-hand, and of course that's a Pirate bandana he's wearing.

Awesome, thank you! I was a little alarmed to learn that the legs had a simple loin cloth. Here I was thinking it was yellow trousers with some sort of tan sash worn around the waist.

It certainly is a bit mix and match. Wearing chain mail as armour to protect the chest but just wearing a loin-cloth is probably not a very smart idea. Similarly, the fur jacket on the torso suggests that it is cold, but the loin-cloth that it is hot. They are decent parts for making other historical figures though. I use the torso for Rohan soldiers for LOTR, with no yellow print on it you can replace the arms with brown and hands with flesh.
