hi everyone

i am planning to buy three battle packs. but i don,t know wich one to chose. i have much droid forces, but not so much infantry. the same with the clones. i have allways prefer droids over clones, until i have the at-ap. but i have not so super much money and i want to build a great army, so for now i prefer droids because if i buy 3 battle packs of droids i have 21 droids, and if i do this with clones i have only 12 clones. so what is your advice for me?

Ah... I believe you answered your own question. Go droid. If you are asking for our... sagely advice, always go Clone. One thing I dislike about the droids is that allot of my older ones, now 10 years old in most cases, are beginning to weaken and fall over, so much so that I dare not move them. Clones are much sturdier, and heck, their clones... Nuff said!

As Palin said: If you want to build a grand army go for the DROIDS (ty jim didn't notice it first). If you want a bit smaller but way cooler army go for clones

^vaders son i think you mean grand army of droids. just pointing that out.

i say clones. they are way cooler and have the new guns. for some strange unexplained reason the droid battle pack doesnt. but the MTT does. if you wanted, you could buy an MTT with your money first (if you have enough) and then buy some more clones. thats what i did.

If I were you I'd go for the clones. My reasoning, after they stop producing the first wave of BP's I wouldn't be surprised to see the prices for the BP clones to go through the roof on BL and EBay.

Droids will pretty much always be the same price. Plus, Phase 2's are just cooler then Droids.

On another note if you are really hurting for Droids get the Droid BP, but be warned they will probably make a new CIS BP sometime next year for the CW series coming up, and that would hopefully have the new 90 degree angle droid arms and the new mold blasters.

Do you have to get all of the same battle pack? It sounds like you get more droids than clones, so here's an idea.

Why not get 2 Clone packs and one Droid one. That way you get 8 Clones and 7 Droids. :classic:

i mean an argument (if i spell it correctly) for liking clones more than droids

in my opinion, clones are better because:

1) they just look better in general

2) robots just dont look or feel the same as clones; clones give off a more army-like feel, while droids just seem boring.

on the other hand, i like using CIS in SWBF2 for the camoflauge.

That's easy. Due to some silly decision the Droids talk like 80s educational toys, and Clones sound like Temuera Morrison. There really is no need to discuss which one sounds cooler. Having said that, I personally don't like the Episode 3 clones. The design is a clear attempt to bridge the Ep2 Clones with the Stormtroopers which never made much sense to me.

just a question but why people think clones are much cooler than droids?

Note what has been answered so far (below) They are just way cooler than droids!

Personal opinion?

Yes, and that is an argument I'd say! Personal opinion is in most cases based on some kind of reason in one's mind I believe :classic:

That's very true

Well that makes some kind of sense because we all knew the stormtroopers from the original movies and we know the Empire would be the follower of the republic so there had to be some kind of connection between the troops of the two of them. Furthermore we also knew a lot of how Ep III would end before we actually saw the movie because Ani had to become Vader, Luke and Leia had to be born and hidden, Yoda and Ben had to go into hiding - I could go on for ever^^

Why do I like clones? I guess it started way back in the way back, when some old fossil was talking to the his would be padiwan, about the times before the dark times... The Clone Wars... Personal FYI, I was born the day after Star Wars changed the world... And all that time... at least when I was old enough to comprehend the concept, around 4 or 5 I'll say, I have been fascinated with what the Clone Wars could be. Now, I didn't start really liking the Empire straight off, and used to be a Rebel myself... Until I began to read the EU books that is. But I have always liked Vader. Empire, at least the scene on Cloud City with it's revelation of Vader's paternal plot twist firmly cemented my love of Star Wars at that point! I also really like Storm Troopers, and this is equally ingrained because of the Emperor's Arrival scene... which coincidentally is my major reason for Army Building, and takes the place of honor in both my heart and my collection. So, when I learned back in 1997 that good ol' George would be going back to fill in the gaps with One Two and Three, I was thrilled, because now, (at the time I was 20), I was finnally going to peer into an enigma that had been on my mind for most of my life! And, like millions of adoring fans... I cheered at the famous scrawl and went back 5 more times... to see this new revelation pertaining to my earliest childhood. Now I know that is an incredibly long winded response to a simple question, but please understand, the nature of the question requires a lengthy response. Now, as to why, well, Clonies are the Stormtroopers of the PT, but much cooler as it pertains to their color coding, rank system, individual armor types, and story. Plus, arguably, they are the good guys too for a while. And they don't miss near as much as Stormies. Now, I can not reasonably say I prefer Clones over Stormies, but I totally can say that the Battle Droids are truly mindless, and far lacking compared to abilities of a Clonie. Lego wise, they (Clones), will last longer, are better built, better ships, (though I do like the droid carriers in the bps slightly better), and overall, the droids lose in the end,and quickly fall over after assembly.

Yes, I realise that, but do you really think that an army would change an expensive uniform like that so often? Not a chance. Re-issuing 1 million or so uniforms to every trooper at once (I don't recall seeing any in the old uniform) while having them all look battle warn makes Leia being Lukes sister look believable. Yes I know that the official reason is something to do with the old ones having a heat problem, but that's just George-speak for "I want to sell more action-figures"

Sinner you're right, and I too don't think that an army would change an expensive uniform like that so often :classic: Well maybe Palpy was fashion addicted? No just kiddin'

My point was that there needed to be some kind of connection and the late clonetroopers had to be somewhat recognisable as the future stormtroopers. Furthermore there were many many more stormtroopers than clones during the reign of the Galactic Empire. So they needed to produce new uniforms for those new troopers anyway. And the original clone/stormtrooper died after some time because of their faster process of getting older.

But you're right with your point somehow :classic:

Hmmm... :sceptic: As a former member of the US Navy  , I can assure you that we went through 2 significant Uniform changes during my six years, and were also forced to add printed names tags onto all our uniforms save dress. :hmpf_bad: One of the changes, however, was mainly material to our dungarees. This however was reimbursed by the Navy

Now, with the incredible savings of the TIE program, and strict grey paint only tactics, you would think that the Empire finally learned that those changes where costly, and as such, this was reflected by the standard Uniforms we see throughout the Saga... Again, this points to the... fiscal abuse of the decaying and morally challenged Republic. I firmly believe that all of the uniform changes we see in EP II an III finally bankrupted the Old Dinosaur, there by forcing Papaltine to speed up the inhalation of the Separatist. To pay for the outrageous debt incurred by those costly upgrades, our benevolent Emperor was reduced to wearing strictly in-ornate and cheap rags...:tongue::tongue:

Hey, shouldn't the MTT go on sale soon? I mean, Yoda's review of the set was done almost a year ago, and isn't that when sets go on sale, 1 year later?

However, I am dealing with kinda the same issue as James, and I like your suggestion, Jim, but right now I don't have much money, so I'll get some clones now maybe, and as soon as the MTT goes on sale, I'll grab that one too. There is only one thing that bothers me (a lot): The MTT doesn't have any Super Battle Droids!:hmpf_bad: I got one of them in the Hailfire droid set, and they are so cool! Also, if you want to make a decent CW scene, you need them, cause they were used a lot - just look at the cartoon show or the trailers of the upcoming movie... There were HORDES of them! :cry_happy: But I refuse spending 10 bucks on a BP that only has 3 of them and none of the new weapons (leave alone droids that are able to hold them! :hmpf_bad: )! Sigh! :cry_sad: Oh well, nothing to do but to stick to my plan mentioned earlier and hope that there will be some other opportunity to get some of those someday. Perhaps in the franchise for the upcoming animated series? :sweet: You know, I am really hoping for a BP duo for next year with one including Phase 1 clones (like in the upcoming sets) and the other one including BDs (like those from the MTT + weapons of course) and some Supers again! :sweet: That would be awesome, but that's a different story...

So, I would advise you to do the same, James! :classic: Now, does anyone know when the MTT will go on sale?

thank you, i think i shall stay with droids, and because you rembered me of the new sets this summer, i have also heard there will be this summer a droid gunship and a spider droid, and except the droid tank from the set wookie attack i love a giant spider droid. so a droid army will be raising very soon

 Well as it turns out I was in the navy too, but all we did was change our formal and ceremonial uniform. However, that was to save costs as it then made the junior sailors wear almost the same uniform as the rest... which made the whole thing confusing to everyone! :sceptic: I still don't think it makes much sense though... but I'll shut up here as this is waaaaaaaaaaay off topic.
