It has been quite a while since I posted a MOC on Eurobricks so here goes nothing! My current project is a C-model of the 42078 Mack Anthem. I am trying to make a telescopic handler with:

  • Telescopic two-stage boom
  • 4-wheel drive
  • 4-wheel steering
  • Detailed exterior

This is my progress so far (it looks very iffy at the moment, and I may scrap the chassis at some point but for now we will see):

Top view of the chassis (as you can see, four wheels are driven, four steered although the steering is not hooked up yet)

Boom with axle connectors for chassis. (The middle U-joint is for support).

This is a very ambitious project for my skill level, as my only prior experience with MOCs are nonfunctional ones. Hopefully this one turns out :sweet:.

* Also there is no reference that I could find on Google for a telehandler with 8 wheels, so this is not necessarily based off a specific model. *

Thanks for stopping by,

I don't think I've ever seen a telehandler with more than 4 wheels, but this does look more interesting than Lego's basic version (42061) from some years back.

Is there a reason why you went with 8 wheels?  Just trying to use a lot of the components since it's a C model?  If so, consider going with a detailed 4-wheel telehandler and maybe use some of the remaining part count to build a rack and some pallets (maybe with the rest of the wheels as cargo) for the machine to manipulate.

Very odd choice of vehicle for an 8-wheel chassis. The turning circle on that thing would be massive. *huh*

Yes, so far the circle seems to be okay, if I can just hook it up together...

Telehandler. May I ask for reference picture?

The original idea was a four wheeled handler, but then the boom got too large. So I decided to pop four extra wheels on and call it a concept model . I may consider your idea, though. Thank you!

With parts only from 42078 you could built a telehandler, rack, pallets, and a truck which could transport those.
