ZedKay Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 (edited) Hello fellow builders, I present you the Flying Dutchman, the infamous ghost ship from the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, in LEGO! The idea came to me a year ago, while I was sitting at my desk when I cast me eyes upon the 3 official LEGO POTC ships on the top of my shelf: The Black Pearl, The Queen Anne's Revenge, and The Silent Mary. For years I had been waiting for LEGO to release a Flying Dutchman, but to no avail it never came out. Determined to build the ship myself, I embarked on an exciting, challenging but rewarding journey to produce a MOC which would take up its rightful place among my fleet and make it complete. Quote Beware the Flying Dutchman, the most fearsome galleon on the Seven Seas, captained by the evil Davy Jones, Lord of the sea; a cursed pirate condemned to sail the oceans forever. Features: 7 mini-figures: Davy Jones, Maccus, Hadras, Bootstrap Bill, Koleniko, Jimmy Legs, and Penrod (I'm hoping LEGO can use the textures from the video game for these, and the necessary headwear/chestpieces) Two decks with cannons Two triple-barrelled chasers in the bow Two functioning anchors Kraken capstan hammer (can be detached to allow for more room) Captain’s cabin with pipe organ Rudder and turning helm Custom hand-drawn demon face stickers for cannon ports More information can be found here at LEGO IDEAS. Captain Dee Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 I don't particularly care about ghost ships or PoTC, but acknowledging the massive appeal of the franchise, genre, and the ship in question, this would make a pretty good set. It's sufficiently detailed without being gigantic in size or piece count, and would undoubtedly look good beside the official sets. (It still surprises me that TLG didn't release it already.) Keep it up. Quote

Keep it up. Thank you very much! I made sure it was similar in size to the other official LEGO POTC ships so it would fit with the theme, and it's at 2556 piece count after many adjustments, which I think is a good compromise between size and amount of detail, considering how intricate the real ship is. And aye it surprises me too, we'll never know why. ?♂️ Quote
