Dear journal,
Worrying words from the Mystic Isles have reached us a week ago. Fishermen speak about grey ships sliding through the fog and villagers gossip about a steady decline of Elven appearances. As nobody seems to know exactly what's happening in the core of this magic archipelago or where its inhabitants are going, Lydia has left four days ago, searching truth behind the rumours. She has failed to give a sign ever since.

Quite a bit to like about this display!  Really nice job on the wedge plate path to the left, and the wood steps on the other side are equally well done.  But my favorite bit is probably the little boat; great use of those arches to make a super compact vessel!

Wonderful to see a MOC from you! Dig the boat and the trees, and interesting bases. Fav detail is the orange pot, really a nice detail!

I think you did a wonderful job! I especially like the small boat and the wooden bridge connecting the two islands. The only thing that might be something for the next build is making the base blue instead of black. The black color makes the whole build a bit dark and I think blue could have made the build more colourful.

Loving the kayak!

I don't know about the back, but from the front it looks great!  I like the very organic levels, and the old and somewhat mystic feel to everything.  The kayak laden with the goods is great, too!  I appreciate how difficult new techniques are, and want to get to trying some myself.  Great job!

Great to see so many familiar faces back in the guilds for the challenge! :pir-sweet:  That little boat design and the wood-work are quite nice here, and the landscaping is well done too, especially those trees!   If I've got one critique it'd be about the black, though - I think that kind of border is usually just a hit or miss kind of thing, and just a little bit of trans-clear or trans-clear over blues (or some trans-green, maybe!) would have given a little more color to the build overall.  But this is certainly a nice entry, and it's great to see something from you again!   Here's hoping for more before long! :classic:

Oh! Me loves those small irregular bases you used here! The colours are so nice!

Thanks Kai, glad you like the little boat, it was one of the funniest parts to build

Thank you, I'm really happy to be back to building! Good to see someone has noticed the pot, I thought the dark orange fitted the colourscheme just too well

Blue would indeed have been a very nice colour to add even more depth to the build, especially dark blue (though my collection of these is very, very limited). Thanks!

You almost make me blush, thanks! New techniques can be very challenging and even frustrating, but also very satisfying, so if you want to you should just try them!

Aye, I'm really happy to be (more or less) back to building, hope to give you another MOC (or maybe even two) this summer! Glad that you like the build, thanks. As for the base colour: you're probably right, something like dark blue or a combination with trans clear would have added a nice extra touch, though my collection of these is quite limited. I defenitely have to try it on a smaller base though, and maybe make some BL-orders afterwards

Thanks!

You’re welcome!  As for trying new techniques, it’s not fear but time that gets in my way.  I am very time limited for building so for a challenge trying a new technique is a good way to miss deadlines as I play, so I try and save new techniques for free builds.  As it is, I spend a lot of time away from my bricks (as I am now), so I pretty much have time to check in here and comment.  The good news is that this time I’m on vacation which means one of my two yearly trips to some LEGO stores, so I’ll have more bricks!

The ruin seems like something taken straight out of Middle-earth! And that is a good thing :classic:
Great job with the rockwork too

Man, I keep coming back to admire this build. To me, it’s stunning!

The boat is incredibly clever. In the islands, the mixture of natural elements (the path in dark tan and rockwork in dark bley) is absolutely perfect. Plus, the addition of the wooden boards is so smooth!

The angles on the ruins are great looking too. Finally, the divided black bases are very unique, as well.

Amazing build, man.

Cheers!

Lovely angles in the rockwork and ground  The landscape looks very natural as do the crumbling walls.
And that boat design is sure to see a lot of use in the future!

Love the boat, will try and reverse engineer it.
