I wonder why LEGO used to give such poetic names to police stations in the past line: Metro PD, Central Precinct etc where as now they have been mundane Police stations since the 2000s.

and this is not just about police stations, it’s more or less about all sets.

I remember saying that 2021 should be a police theme free year. But considering how much opposition I faced, I wouldn't be surprised if Lego saw this and decided to do the exact opposite by making every 2021 City set police themed.

If that happens, I will casually distance myself from the fandom and turn towards MOCs. I don't care how much I suck at MOCs. Because I will officially lose hope in City.

And I'm okay with the police sub-subthemes, but maybe on a 2-3yr basis. And if 2021 brings space police, I'm going to decide the company has lost its' marbles. I love SP, just not in city. But idk what they could do for another police theme, unless they start over again with forest police. I suppose they could do water police, since LEGO CG does rescue, not law enforcement.

Well look on the bright side. If SP comes back with a city subtheme, at least have a callback on its history. If not, TLG might as well re-name LEGO City to LEGO Universe.

I wish OFOLs saw sense and didn't support all those police sets. Don't they know how crazy it's getting? Pretty soon, it could end up being what you just said. I think City should go back to the yearly rescue theme instead of the yearly police theme. It's starting to lose its grip on reality. Especially if they take police into space. 

Lego doesn't always know what they're doing. 

EDIT: 

I like the system Lego City had in the late 2000s and very early 2010s:

• 2006, the rescue theme was Medical 
• 2007, the rescue theme was Fire
• 2008 had two rescue themes; Police and Coast Guard
• 2009 introduced the new roadside repair theme (Missed my chances on that one)
• 2010 was fire again
• 2011 was police again
• 2012 was forest rescue. Medical sorta made a comeback, but it was very slight. 
• 2013 was SWAT (Elite Police), fire and coast guard
• 2014 was police

What I'm saying is that Lego had such an amazing system then. I dunno why they felt the need to change it. They were still doing well financially and were still able to appease their target audience, while even gaining more older fans in the process. They impressed everybody. I wish they could go back to that, which I believe they can.

This is why they're doing so well with the main police stuff but not some parts of police. Then again, I'm just a customer/casual fan who just looks into what LEGO is selling right now and which one is successful. It depends on the target audience whom are kids to test the product and if they are happy with it.

We all are. But don't feel bad. We're more valuable than we think. 

I only assume some of it doesn't do well judging from how long it stays on the shelves to collect dust or whether its pulled from the shelves immediately.

Space Police belongs in its' own theme. Or better yet, in a Space theme as a sub. Which is another completly ridiculous thing, space in City. It needs to be in its own theme as it was for 20+ years. Also, if there's a SP4 and no Blacktron 3 that'll really suck. It's more likely than some things, as just about every other year we get something to indicate that Blacktron is still out there...

I can already imagine LEGO making huge oversized moon rovers with jail cells with the cops trying to stop crooks from jacking satellites.

It costs too much money to make it it's own theme. Though I agree with you that all of the explorers themes should have their own theme (Lego Explorers), it would take a huge nosedive to do so.

Usually we’d have high quality set images from regular retailers by the end of November. Some stores even start to sell the sets by the end of this month, usually.

I hope so. Or else I'm gonna panic. Tbh though, I think 2019 is the first time in years that City has mostly released subjects based inside the city. 2020 seems to be promising too. 

I hope the In/Out theme isn't an explorers theme. A lot of City fans (myself included) kinda want a break from those.

60250, 60268, 60270, 60271, 60273 and 60274 remain unnamed. 60250 is a great vehicle so I expect that one to be revealed soon. I hope it's a school bus or something else that City has never done before or in two years.

I don't mind explorers themes at all if all it means is sets taking place outside of a city environment but still in the modern world. Jungle exploration, safari, countryside, reef diving, outback - bring them on. Far better than the usual dull police/fire routine!

I agree 100% and much better chances for new animal moulds "outside the city" as well

I don't mind them either. But in addition to the usual fire and police routine, I would like Lego to take a break from its usual system for City with the explorers sets. 

2021 would be a good time. Take that time to focus on other awesome City sets like airplanes or ships or construction. I really want the latter subtheme to return. I mean like it was in 2005. Not just as a few vehicles here and there.

You can't really argue that "Outside the City" kinda defeats the point of the City theme. It's an oxymoron.

To be frank, City is the only theme that specializes in repetitiveness. We barely see anything new. The only new stuff we saw this year were the four town sets and a few of the great vehicles. 

The rest were subjects that are overrated and are covered every single year; catching criminals, putting out fires, making discoveries and exploration. It's time for a change, City.

Capital idea Teri. I actually am now getting impatient though. I want leaks!!!!!

No animosity towards the police. I do like the Diamond Heist set. Just picked that one up today.

Any rumours on the People Packs for 2020? I was surprised there were two release for 2019 (Fun at the Fair and the Space Centre). Hopefully this means they are popular, although they do need to try to ensure there are new elements that make them worth the price, as I think they are too expensive otherwise, without having something like the wheelchair & baby from the first one.
