Amazing sets, all 4 of them.

Stunt Team, simple but it works.

Race Cars certainly has a Speed Champions vibe, and Octan E seems City's Electric car brand.

Service Station could have had a larger building but still fine, the Surfer van and SUV are good.

Tuning Workshop, fantastic collection of vehicles, figures and building, for a mega-set I'm impressed, I love all the vehicles, figures and building/sidebuilds.

Now with speed champions moving to 8 wide, I see City can certainly still design very good 4-6 wide vehicles.

Heh, I seriously dig the two automobile builds that come with the Service Station, as their color choices seem typically uncharacteristic of City.  :smug:

Does Tread Octane have that "phoenix" jacket that leaked a few months ago?

with this new subtheme of racing/car service i hope they'll be doing a race track set. theres definitley hope for new, different stuff with these unnamed sets, especially with these new sets. so unique.

also i think the prices are gonna be:

60258 - $100 - $110

60257 - $60 - $80

60256 - $20

60255 - $10

Wow. That set would be an instant must-buy if the side stripes were printed. Instead it's just going to be a mess of stickers.

I know it's not City, but I just noticed 2 new Xtra polybags on brickset, Sports and another Botanical, Xtra is pretty much City-accesoires.

Great to see them continued, and the botanical one is different enough from the last one, and very massable again.

I hope note. That'll be upsetting if its so.

*not*. by the pricing recently it looks realistic. for example the police diamond heist from the sky police line was $60, when it was a $40 dollar set. also sets with over 800 pieces are almost always $100, and the tuning workshop has like 847 pieces.

I don't know. I got the diamond heist set for $50. Then again, it was at Wal-Mart.

So they made Speed Whatever 8 wide long so they can continue the 6 wide long in City? Okay then...

They are better than police, but that gas station is really bad. The shop set looks nice, decent building and cars.

I didnt like the 2020 sets until these last ones. Those are awesome. but...

one more important thing to discuss!!

With the world going electric, Lego is following
there for Octan colours are changing!!  OctanE is yellow, light bleu and dark blue.

there are some old school octan colours. but for how long... RIP the red white and green :iamded_lol:

Heh, that Beach Buggy is pretty nice for a polybag four-wheeler...

I'm getting that one. I might also grab the police helicopter and the police minifigure accessory pack.

It looks like the set uses already existing pieces on the sides, they formerly appeared in the 70906: Joker Notorious Lowrider set. Not sure about the pieces that shaping the bonnet, maybe those are a mixture of stickered and printed parts.

I'm actually quite impressed by how well they translated Speed Champions-type vehicles into City-appropriate builds in 60256.

I agree that 60256 is somehow like a City version of the Speed Champions vehicles.

Strictly speaking, they are more similar to 60053 and 60113 from the Great Vehicles subtheme, and 60053 came out back in 2014 – a year before first Speed Champions sets. Honestly, the 60256 cars look like mods of said cars. And if we are being really nerdy, similar sporty civilian and police 6-wide cars have been featured in a bunch of sets ever since 2013:

  • 60007 High Speed Chase – 2013
    60007-1.jpg?201210110437
  • 60053 Race Car – 2014
     60053-1.jpg?201311100551
  • 60113 Rally Car – 2016

  • 60128 Police Pursuit – 2016
    60128-1.jpg?201511180804
  • 60138 High-speed Chase – 2017

  • 60141 Police Station – 2017
    60141-1.jpg?201611300919
  • 60200 Capital City – 2018
    60200-1.jpg?201805251126
  • 60239 Police Patrol Car – 2019

Also, finally figured out what felt so nostalgic about the Tuning Workshop – I was captivated by 10200 back in the day.

10200-1.jpg?200809040303

Fun as it was, though, the red hot rod was the only vehicle that looked really finished, the other 2 were fun as well, but kind of wacky. So to me 60258 looks like a polished, properly 2020 version of 10200. And since you have

  • a hot rod
  • a modern street-racing-looking car
  • a jet bike (full-on wacky!)
  • a tow truck
  • a compact town car

you would be able to play out a lot of fun scenarios.

Now I read the dislike for the shop in the service station set.....well, simply add to it I will.

Add a few 8x16 base plates on the ends and build on.

My only issue is with some of the vehicles. I personally hope they go back to generic vehicles next year. Some of them look to similar to Speed Champions. I'll make exceptions for the race cars and the vehicles from the tuning shop though.

Honestly. I would rather have it like this than adding more bricks because in my country, there are service stations that are normal size but some are as small as this set.
