The Friends plane opts for brick-built wings attached lower on the body of the plane, which makes the rest of the plane interior roomier but also makes the shape a little more "cartoony". It also does without a traditional "door"—the only way in and out of the Friends plane is the power of imagination. That reflects the different sorts of design principles behind the two themes—City emphasizes more realistic form factors and "action play", while Friends is more about liveable details and role play. Personally I do prefer the Friends plane, but chances are if the City plane had opted for those features instead of a realistic shape and features typically considered standard like a door in and out of the plane, it'd be getting a whole different set of criticisms. ParmBrick Posted April 29, 2020 Posted April 29, 2020 I am not very impressed with the new Lego City passenger jet, although they have finally improved the cockpit and added the bathroom. It will also be a matter of priority, but I think it is risky to choose to place side by side a cargo jet with a passenger jet. I think many who want to get their hands on it, will have to buy a couple of this set, in order to transform it into a pure passenger jet, or vice versa, if they want a pure cargo jet. Quote

Tbh, I might get the 4+ airport before I get the regular City airport. Quote

Makes sense in terms of business practices from LEGO but I would love at least to have the best of both worlds. A type of luxurious interior with realistic proportions and features to go along. Thankfully we have a specific theme for that which is the Creator Expert but time will tell if our wishes fulfill. Edited April 29, 2020 by AMD Quote

Too true ol chap! When I want the best of both worlds from a build, I turn to Creator. I have every house from Creator and some shops. I know this may sound weird coming from me, but I would like to see the designers of Creator 3in1 try their hands at a police station. That would be something I'd pay to see. I bet that one would be the first in a while to impress me. Edited April 30, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote

I don't know about that but I think its better to have them make houses, cabins or modular buildings instead. We have a lot of police to cover in LEGO City. Then again. They did it with the Fire brigade from the winter village fire station so why not a winter village police station Edited April 30, 2020 by AMD Quote

There was a little platform that came with the passenger train. But that wouldn't do in my book. I also was kinda hoping for an updated train station for 2018. Another level crossing too. I think Lego should release more accessories for trains such as separate engines, train cars, engine sheds, stations, etc. That system was so awesome back in 2003. Lego should really consider going back to that for trains. Edited April 30, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote

Even though I probably wouldn't buy any of the sets, it would be a nice way to bring down the cost of train-specific parts and maybe even get wheels and buffers in new colors. Quote
The Island Chronicles Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 (edited) On another note, just2good brought up a valid point on his video about the air transport sets. What the designers of City sets do isn't really based on what children love. I say REALLY as in "it's not fully". He stated that it's mostly parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who buy these things for the little boys in their lives and I would assume that if my son or nephew wanted something City related, they'd want some type of vehicle over some type of stationary infrastructure. That's what Lego as a whole based their sets off. The mindset that adults have when assessing what a child would want to play with as opposed to what they wouldn't. I say boys though because City seems to target them. Girls have Friends. No sexism intended. With that being said, I'm definitely accelerating my ideas for City sets to try to have them pushed. Wish me luck. Otherwise, he also stated that City has given up on Cargo planes. I wouldn't say that. We may not have seen a decent sized cargo jet since 2016. But I doubt they've given up. Though i do have to admit that recently.... they do seem to be rather hesitant to promote action within then City compared to action outside of the the city. I say promote as in give subthemes to them. Edited April 30, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote

Like the city subtheme now could also just be named as “city vehicles”, I think that’s more accurate? Quote
