a elite police set has been leaked, 60272 looks like a elite police boat transport car. it has duke detain and clara the criminal. so i guess there is 3 elite police sets coming, either way i like them. what do you guys think? (picture is on #legoleaks on instagram)

Two police waves in one year. I'm not happy Lego! Not happy! @Klaus-Dieter You mean we could've seen a subtheme centered around the public transport system this year? But instead, we see another police wave. I'm officially withdrawing my funding for City sets.

Gotta say I actually like that little boat chase set, still much better compared to that Drill chase.

It looks okay, almost Town-scale, even if the boats themselves have very little to build, it could go well with the  Lighthouse set.

Yet another Duke Detain (even if different) gets a bit repetitive, but he has a very different outfit and you can't even see the face , hopefully less of the same characters in 2021 (I assume those are like September sets)

2021 is possibly Coast Guard again, so those water-themed sets (floating helicopter / small boats / lighthouse ) make some sense going into the next year.

I was on YouTube and I found the set 60272 with duke detain and clara ,sadly we were  don t have a people pack .

Here is a vídeo with a good quality image of the set

better quality pics of 60273 and 60274 are up on legoleaks

So this has been on my to-do list for two and a half years but now that the Newbury Abandoned Prison is out I’ve finally turned my attention to installing a proper police force in my city. The first step of this has been accepting that LEGO will never again make a police station that actually looks good on display and ordering a pre-owned edition of the 2012 Forest Police Station on eBay (which I personally believe is the nicest-looking official police station in LEGO history) that I plan to modify the hell out of and attach to the Newbury Jailhouse.

I already have a police helicopter from 2017 (I had a ‘collect named characters’ phase and got it for Chase McCain, which I suppose was a good idea because we’ll probably never see him again). Unfortunately I scrapped the associated car but the current Highway Arrest set with Duke Detain is only $20 at Kmart and it complements the police truck that’s included with the Forest Police Station pretty nicely. So I’m going to have two police vehicles and a helicopter with matching predominantly-blue-with-white-highlights colour schemes. The one thing that I feel is missing is a ‘prisoner transport’ truck. What I have is good for first response and just general transportation, but as far as taking crooks to the jail the only options are ‘Let them ride in the helicopter’ or ‘stuff them into the back of the truck’. With the absolutely ridiculous number of Police sets LEGO releases yearly, I’m sure there’s a predominantly-blue prisoner transport truck somewhere in the last ten years or so. Can anyone point me to a good one?

Nothing on the big set with public transport mentioned here?

So far there's been one rumour from Hungary in this thread that there's a big city set with a yellow tram and some vehicles and buildings. Do you know more?

EDIT: Seems like that person deleted his comment due to confidentiality back on page 56.

So it's not happening? Bummer!

But in all honesty, I don't really approve of there being two police waves in one year. That's oversaturation. Instead, I would've used 60271-60274 to expand on the airport wave, which was pretty lame this year. We are still missing the private jet with limo for a start. It would've also been nice to have an airport fire truck and a new cargo plane (which we haven't gotten in four years). Maybe even an airport shuttle service. Ugh....I don't get why Lego's City division didn't just save those extra 2020 police sets to use for next years police wave. Would've made more sense.

On top of that, you'd assume that Lego would have more sympathy, especially considering the scandal surrounding the police right now. The last thing you'd want to release sould be a new police wave.

I didn't imply that it's not happening. I said that the person who originally posted it, deleted it probably because they didn't want to be fired for leaking confidential stuff.

They probably designed and produced those new sets prior to the scandal.

lego is probably doing a third police wave because the police sets sell well, and they wanted to do a elite police wave. my brother works there, he designs the website. he says that the city fire and police sell very well. maybe farm and harbor and stuff didnt go well with product testing. in my opinion, 2020 is my favorite year of city. i thought the police was nice, and the summer airport was great.

they design sets about a year before. my brother says right now they are designing the summer sets for 2021 most likely

also, in jangbricks words: kids that city is marketed to were not alive when the older police came out, so there just going to keep pumping out city police for new generations, especially if city is marketed to 4 - 5 year olds.

Two police waves in a single year tho?

Why not just do one a year then, like they did the previous years? If they do this ish that they did just now, they might as well discontinue City and call it Lego Police instead. Not that I'd want them to.

But if that happens......Lego will come up with something to benefit town planners who want affordable buildings for their town.

Isn't it a kinda self fullfilling prophecy if all they make is police then obviously police will sell the best. :P

That's what I said one time. Now that they have evolved to two police waves a year, I'm officially withdrawing my funding from City sets. C'mon Lego! Surprise me with some different vehicles. Like you did with the street sweeper, race cars and ice cream truck for this year.

Number of sets is still very comparable compared to the 2014 and 2017 main Police waves, which had 9 cardboard boxed sets each.

If we include the 3 new sets, 2020 will have 8 cardboard boxed 5+ sets, 1 more 4+ set, and the Police Brick Box, so that makes 9 boxed sets + plastic Tub.

I know 2014 and 2017 had €6 cardboard boxes which aren't made anymore, but 2020 has a 4-minifig blister pack instead.

As for Police Polybags, 2014 had 2 , 2017 had 3, 2020 so far has 2.

I don't include Polybags, Promos, or minifig-blister packs, magazine gifts as those are a bit of a different category and usually very small.

You bring up very accurate points there. But in my honest opinion, they could've expanded the airport wave.

Aircrafts are a good seller too. This years airport wave was pretty lame with only two airports (one being 4+) and an air race set. The 2016 Airport wave was way better. More planes, vehicles and only one airport. Like I said, i would've taken the chance to expand on that. Along with adding the helicopter for the Divers wave.

6 sets for police is enough to make enough money for this entire year.

i think 2020 sets are over. other than the big town set 60271 i think everything has been leaked, im hoping for city 2021 maybe more town based sets, and maybe they will do something new. maybe they will do only 3 - 4 police sets in 2021 instead of a new 7 - 9 set wave, and the same with fire. maybe they will also bring back coast guard. it seems like maybe they will bring back these old cargo, farm, ect for the tv show, then doing new sets for those. i really hope there is not a brand new police wave, i hope they just expand on the 2020 police, i really like those sets.

I agree that Airport wave is certainly lacking, I wish the air race set was actual 2 propellor racing planes instead.

Town and Great Vehicles are pretty much the only thing keeping me in City right now. However, if next years coast guard and cargo waves prove to be actually existant, City would be back in business. I'm still begging City for a public transport wave.

It also seems like the automotive industry is a good attention grabber to kids, thus why we got numbers 60255 to 60258 this year. They did well with that tuning shop.

Ikr! I also wish they would've added a limo and private jet with Mayor Freck, Mary Sinclair or the judge from LCA. Or an airport firetruck with Buster Lloyd and Fireman Bob from LCA. How about a cargo plane with those two?

Add those to the other three and we have a good airport wave.

I think the reason the Airport wave is so small this year is because they decided to split it across different themes.  Friends got a medium-sized passenger jet and Minions got a 4+ passenger jet; add that to the large City passenger jet and the 4+ City propeller plane and you've got a normal-sized Airport wave, except with more variety in the minifigures.  Minions and Minidolls instead of only Minifigures.

LOL! Friends is not even canon to City dude. Not even Minions. Nowhere near there.

I agree there, I just see the relation between the sets to be an easter egg, not some official in-universe Canon.

The City 4+ set has a ticket with LCI-HLC on it.

6303507.jpg

HLC (Heartlake City) is listed on the Friends and City Airport schedule, but so is LCI (Lego City International?) , and BLL (Billund Airport, Denmark).

Also BRK (Bricksburg from LEGO Movie?)

Especially Minions is completely unrelated from the releases.

Edited by TeriXeri

I'm not saying that Friends or Minions are in any way "canon" to City, I'm just pointing out that from a perspective of filling out a product line there are just as many minifig/minidoll/minion-compatible passenger airplanes this year as there have been in any other year, they're just a bit more spread out.  I wouldn't even call the situation an Easter egg - it's just a way of providing a bit more variety in essentially the same products as they'd be putting out anyway all under City.

Category 1: 4+ propeller airplane + airport terminal (City)

Category 2: 4+ passenger jet (Minions)

Category 3: 6+ medium-sized passenger jet (Friends)

Category 4: 6+ large passenger jet (City)

Straw Person No. 1 has a kid that likes the Minions movie, isn't otherwise interested in airplanes.  Straw Person No. 1 buys the Minions plane for their kid. TLG sells one 4+ passenger jet that they wouldn't otherwise have sold.

Straw Person No. 2 has a kid that likes Friends sets, is only mildly interested in airplanes.  Straw Person No. 2 wouldn't buy the City airplanes for their kid, but does buy the Friends plane.  TLG sells one 6+ medium-sized passenger jet that they wouldn't otherwise have sold.

Straw Person No. 3 has a kid that really likes airplanes and wants to be an airline pilot, but doesn't like girly stuff and hates the Minions movies.  Straw Person No. 3 would have bought the whole airport line if it had been larger (one set from each of categories 1-4), but only buys the large City jet.  TLG doesn't sell one set from Categories 1-3 that they would otherwise have sold.

I think there are more Straw Persons No. 1 and No. 2 than there are Straw Persons No. 3, so it makes sense to spread out the airport content across multiple lines.

Just my two cents, it's not a big deal.
