5150 Lego Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 Not the most exciting race, but not bad either! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time hoping something dumb wouldn't happen to Hamiltion (like a flat that Henki got). He drove like a champ, and hopfully he will repeat that in 2 weeks in Brazil. He only needs 4th to claim the championship,(Thats if Massa wins) so we'll see what happens. Go Lewis! Go Hinki! Go McLaren!!!!! Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 YESSSS! Go Hamilton! What a fantastic drive, Lewis was on top for all the weekend and deserved the win, I ma just glad that he did not make any stupid mistakes this time. let's hope their are no mess ups in Brazil. BTW who is Hinki? Did you mean Heikki? Quote
KimT Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 BTW who is Hinki? Did you mean Heikki? Does it really matter? Whoever he is, he surely needs to find the speeder in that McLaren racer. It's embarassing having one go so extremely fast and the other is continously stuck behind Quote
KimT Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Seems to be very similar at renault No that's a lie Quote

BTW who is Hinki? Did you mean Heikki? Yes, sorry. I always seem to miss spell Heikki's, as well as Kimi's last name wrong. To be honest, i kinda agree with KimT. Heikki's performance as oflate hasn't really been up to McLaren's standards. I really hope he starts to show improvment. His teammate will have Ferrari, and now Renault gunning for him, and he as well as LH need podiem finishes to claim the consrtuctors championship. Com'on Heikki! Your team really needs you! I know you can do it!!! I have faith!! Quote
KimT Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Taken from Formula1.com Formula One racing’s governing body, the FIA, has set a November 7th deadline for applications to supply the standardised engine and transmission system it plans to introduce for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 world championships. The FIA is accepting tender bids to supply engine only, engine and transmission, or transmission only. Bids for the first two options must be made by November 7, while those parties considering transmission only will be given at least a further three weeks to apply. Should the FIA decide its preliminary preference is to opt for an engine-only bid, it will reveal its preliminary choice of supplier on November 28. It will then work with the supplier to make available the technical details needed by those parties interested in making a transmission-only bid. The move to a standardised engine and transmission is one of several ideas being proposed by the FIA as a means of further reducing costs and increasing competitiveness in the sport, which already has a freeze on engine development. Under the proposals, teams would be free to build their own engines (in full or in part) to the specifications laid out by the appointed engine provider. The provider would work with the FIA to ensure that all engines meet their design and prescribed power output, hence guaranteeing performance equality across teams. And now Ferrari threatens to stop in 2010 if FIA decides to go for a single engine provider for all teams. That would be awfull and ruin the sport. Quote
fugglewyg Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 KimT, i saw this story too and i have to say i am not suprised by ferrari's stance. I would be amazed if they were the only manufacturer to feel this way. Most of the engine makers are in it for research and also advertising the brand. Take away that and you take away one of the reasons for them taking part. I hope the fia realise this and stop this stupid idea now.. Quote

Sorry to say, but if ferrari pulls out like they are threatening too, F1 as a sport will be dead. Manufactuers like Ferrari are key players in the sport. They just have to huge a following for them to leave and F1 not take a hit. I understand the point is to help feep cost down, but having your own engine is the main reason for competing in a sport like this. Manufactuers like ferrari use there race cars to test upcoming technology in there road cars. Standardized engines not only hurts the sport, but the manufacers as well. Quote

I think Mr Ecclestone (or however you spell it) just wants more money. He wanted to have a 12th team soon, but when Super Aguri quit, he suddenly had two open team spots that noone wants. How to fix? he thinks. Make it cheaper for all and that'll do the trick. Sadly it'll also kill the sport. Quote

I can see how this might be in favor of the underdog teams, but sadly, they don't bring in the fans like Ferrari, McLaren, BMW, and even Renault. Take away even one of these big hitters, and you'd see a drastic change in the sport, not for the better. Quote
KimT Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Tomorrow is the day for qualifying. Bear in mind when sitting anxiously in your living rooms, that the following seven drivers' engines are on their 2nd GP Lewis Hamilton, McLarenNick Heidfeld, BMW Sauber David Coulthard, Red Bull Mark Webber, Red Bull Nico Rosberg, Williams Kazuki Nakajima, Williams Adrian Sutil, Force India Everybody else is running on fresh engines. Hopefully this wont change anything for Hamilton. It would be a darn shame to see the championship being all about not breaking down in the last GP rather than a duel between contenders. Race ON!. PS Alonso was fastest in the 2nd training today Quote
5150 Lego Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 Ya,i would hate to see somone either get taken out the first corner, or breaking down and that deciding the championship. Right now Hamiltion is 9th in practice sesion and hienkki is 15th i beilieve?? Keepin mind this is practice, so who knows what Mclaren has planned. (hopfully they have somthing planned! ) Also keep inmind that techincly Hamiltion can still use his joker engine change. (though the rules on egine change on the last GP are a bit sketchy) Quote
KimT Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Also keep inmind that techincly Hamiltion can still use his joker engine change. (though the rules on egine change on the last GP are a bit sketchy) I actually think the rules on the joker card are: "No engine change in the last GP" Only a few hours to go 'till the final GP of this season. I hope it's going to be a blast. Go Alonso Go Go Go Quote
KimT Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Rain...10 minutes delay..... This is going to be awesome. What tyre to pick? Rain, extreme, regular? Quote
The Cobra Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) both Toyotas didn't change to slick tyres, Glock slowed down in the last lap and Massa got ... framed / punked / (bad word). Still, Hamilton would have won the Championship if Glock had changed tyres too, because Timo would have obviously lost his place. Hats off to Hamilton, but Ferrari needs to think about all the mistakes they did throughout the year. Edited November 2, 2008 by The Cobra Quote
KimT Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 BAH! Hamilton didn't win today, he got lucky. Massa's the real Champion the way I see it. Nice going by Alonso by the way Quote
fugglewyg Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Talk about last second, Ferrari were celebrating the championship when massa crossed the line only to see it go to it's rightfull (as in not helped by fia and stewards ferrari bias) owner. Did you see the look on their faces in the ferrari garage when they realised. Not a massive lewis fan myself but really glad to see him win it after all the bad sportmanship and booing from the crowds and the awful racist rubbish that was on the spanish website the press talked about earlier in the week. Nice going by Alonso by the way If thats your frame of mind, then Alonso didn't win Valincia.. He got lucky right? Winnings winning. You really need to understand that at some point luck does come inot play. Also, concidering that Massa was pretty much handed 5 points this year, (3 by the FIA) then Hamilton would have been the champion by long ago. Have to admit, that was pretty sad, but that goes to show you that its not over till its over. They should have waited to celabrate till Hamilton crossed the line. i too heard about all the crap the Brazilian news was saying. Unbelievable. I can understand chearing for your country men,but booing like everone did was rediculous. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Yes! +1 to Great Britain!! Congrats to Lewis Hamilton! What an exciting race, overtaking Glock on the last corner. And Fisico was running in fifth at one point until a clutch problem buggered up his race. Sigh..... Quote

I can understand chearing for your country men,but booing like everone did was rediculous. Yep that was a little over the edge. I think we can all agree that some of the best drivers right now are: Kubica, Hamilton & Massa. (Listed in no particular order). They've got the cars and the skills, now let's hope the suspense from this year's season will be there again next year. Hopefully with the good ol' dark horse Renault meddling again BTW: Didn't Alonso finish as number 4 in the driver standings? Quote
5150 Lego Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 Alonso finished 5th in the points behind kubica. He was 6th going in, but just edged out either nick Hietfield, or Hienki. Next year should be very exciting. New cars, all sort of new rules permant stewarts (hopfully ). Sad that this season is over though. Quote
