Anyone here knows if this is reliable? I just saw that too. I’ve never heard of the account so I have no idea if they’re reliable or not. If it’s true my wallet will seriously hurt this year between Star Wars and Harry Potter. I’ve wanted an updated 2nd Death Star for a very long time Quote

Terrasher Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 An updated Death Star 2 would be an interesting set to see how TLG tackles, with all the new pieces, techniques and design standards. On one hand, if the rumor is true, it sucks that it's another re-release. On the other hand, if it's false, perhaps the fall UCS will be something new? We just gotta wait until a more reliable source confirms or denies it. Quote

We just gotta wait until a more reliable source confirms or denies it. We just got an all-new UCS set, not yet on shelves, so it's a bit soon to bemoan "another re-release". Not to mention an all-new gunship coming next year, with an all-new TIE Bomber and/or Medical Frigate likely to follow thereafter. That's a lot of potential new sets.... there are bound to be at least as many reissues in between them all, given LEGO's past cadence. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I would love to get that re-release, Death Star II would look incredible with all new techniques and pieces. Quote

Finally having a non-re-release UCS set is awesome, with more on the way even better, so I'm crossing my fingers TLG has another UCS that's not a rehash in the works for this fall. Quote
Gremer2 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I'm very much hoping the DSII rumor is true. With new pieces and building techniques, it should look amazing and it'd be the perfect time for a Moff Jerjerrod figure. I hope for one of the Emperor's advisors as well, but I doubt that. Quote
storskogen Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) A higher quality picture of the May the 4th promo is out now. Nice, but not very impressed by this compared to the previous ones. Interestingly, they chose a mini-scale Death Star II with an A-wing and a TIE Interceptor and at the same time they release a UCS A-wing (and maybe a UCS Death Star II later this year). Now only a new TIE Interceptor (possibly sytem-scale like this one) is missing, the 2006 is rather outdated... Edited April 19, 2020 by storskogen Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Am I the only one who actually prefers those kind of promos instead of minfigure polybags? Don't get me wrong, I love minfigs, but (except for Revan) none of them were really interesting tbh. Those new type of gifts will look so great together, I would love them to keep consistency with those set and release them once or twice a year with the same technique and dimensions. Quote

I have to agree. The dioramas are really nice especially displayed together. This new one looks pretty good, I just wish it was the first Death Star trench run so we could have a scene from each film in the OT. I want them to eventually do one for every film. I can imagine some really cool ones for the PT. Quote

I like the dioramas/mini-models, but also like the mini-figs. This one looks interesting, but I agree that a diorama for ANH would have been preferable to fill in the original trilogy spread. Cheers :) Quote

The DS 2 was phased out and replaced with the DS. The DS was phased out and replaced with a slightly updated version. It's absolutely logical to assume we'll get another DS/DS 2 when 75159 is phased out. Since 10188 and 75159 were almost the same, which basically means today's DS is still the 2008 version, a set using new parts and techniques is a fair bet. Quote

lego_guyon02 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 The GWP is fine, not bad but not great either. Not a necessary little set for me. I hope the DS2-remake rumor is true, although I personally wouldn't be interested in buying it I'd love to see how they pull it off with all the new techniques and pieces at their disposal Quote

I vastly prefer the minifigs, for the most part I'm much more interested in minifigs than display pieces like that. I have to admit they were very hit-or-miss though, Revan, Yularen, and the Shadow ARF Trooper were the best ones in my opinion. TC-14 was okay although not particularly interesting, plus we eventually got U-3PO who's almost identical. Hoth Han didn't need to be a promo at all, he's already been in sets both before and after that release, and the First Order Assault Stormtrooper was way too similar to the one that was already in sets. Sneakguest Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I really hope that the DS 2 is false, really had hopes for a larger playset with tons of minifigs, but all other early rumours on UCS have been true so probably and unfortunately here as well Quote

Luke, Vader and Palpatine would be great tho. Quote

I don't mean to sound rude but this is what I was afraid of. Full-on UCS sets, ESPECIALLY vehicles, rarely have more than one or two figures. Most likely we'll see a clone pilot, maybe a clone, and the "fan choice" figure, and nothing else, and people'll all get mad that it doesn't have an entire company of soldiers. My point's just don't get your hopes up. 7 hours ago, BacktoBricks said: If it's true, some might say that the May 4th GWP is a promo-nition. I agree though that these recent ones are really good, I've only managed to snatch up the endor one but it looks very nice. Best case scenario is a combination, like an exclusive Veers with the hoth, or Nien Numb in the new DS2 one, but since that'll never happen, I do think these recent ones are pretty good. That said, should there ever be a new opportunity for revan I'll take that over these in a heartbeat! Quote

Though intriguing as to how TLG would remake this set, there are a lot more interesting vehicles and locations in the Star Wars movies than the second Death Star. Quote

There are very few things in Star Wars more iconic than the Death Stars and I would very much like to see that set remade soon Quote
