Mandalorianknight Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 I wonder what the interior of that smaller building looks like. The taller part appears to be a sort of pawn shop the jawas have from what I can see, which is pretty funny. I wonder if that's the entire thing, or if the part of the building with the sliding door is something different. Quote
2lazeetomakeaname Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 So I guess theres a "hilarious hidden surprise" in the Cantina set Quote

I bet they'd go down a storm on Pawn Stars/Storage Wars. Initially I thought it was what others had suggested that it was where R2-D2 and C-3PO hide away, but there's not really any defining features on that so it's hard to tell. 3 minutes ago, starwarslotrluvva said: From the starwars.com designer interview: StarWars.com: Finally, who shot first? If the "hilarious hidden surprise" is ejector-type seats like the previous cantinas, why do they even say it like that? The "surprise" of a play feature from smaller versions being in the larger version isn't all that impressive, and while it doesn't bother me that much it's probably pretty annoying to people who just want a display piece without play features extruding. starwarslotrluvva Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 Is there any place to sit down Luke, Han, Chewie, and Obi-Wan to have their cantina meeting? That's a pretty critical part of the cantina sequence, and I'm not seeing space to recreate that anywhere... Quote

They say it for the benefit of new customers who haven't heard of any of the previous versions and who may therefore think it is a hilarious hidden surprise instead of a bog-standard simple play feature. They say it because it's a very expensive set so it has to have excessively long ad copy and they need something to say. Quote

The corner booth closer to the door does appear large enough to fit 4 figures, even if that wasn't technically the one where they actually were sitting. Quote

The clips at the bottom of Obi-Wan's Hut aren't compatible with the other Mos Eisley buildings. The only other place I thought it could attach was the back of the open building but even that doesn't look to be the case based on the lifestyle photos of the set. 7 hours ago, doclord said: Honestly one of the best Star Wars sets to come out in a long time. A few more unique aliens like the Scream one would've been great but the figs are excellent. The scream guy (Elis Helrot) would have been cool but understandable why they didn't select him. The line up of alien patrons is still a lot better than I was expecting it to be. Didn't think they'd go into the randoms like Labria, Kabe and Hrchek Kal Fas. Although now that the social media push for a 501st Battlepack is finished, maybe it's time to start up a Mos Eisley Battlepack for the patrons that didn't make it? 3 hours ago, starwarslotrluvva said: Is there any place to sit down Luke, Han, Chewie, and Obi-Wan to have their cantina meeting? In the movie Luke and Obi-Wan were sitting outside the alcove rather than inside it so it should be a matter of just moving the small gray stools there. Quote
PreVizsla Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 I just saw michaelbricksf0rever post on IG saying that gift with purchase for UCS Mos Eisley will be Yodas lightsaber in 1:1 scale with exclusive tile. Is this legit? Quote

TheWineNut Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Any idea the dimensions of the model when closed? The official description only gives measurements 'when open'. Quote
jpipes7261 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 @Renown Do you know if it is Exclusive when buying Mis Eisley, or will it be a GWP for all lego star wars ( like spending $99)? Quote

Brikkyy13 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 LEGO FINALLY releases a scale lightsaber model and it’s a goddamn GWP I’m glad the price for the cantina is only $530 AUD but that’s far too much. I’m no Harry Potter fan but Diagon Alley offers much better value for $70 more with 2000 more pieces and architecture that goes beyond being a beige box. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the cantina didn’t need this type of treatment. The cantina itself, as iconic of a scene that it is, not much happens there. Luke gets into a bar fight, some stuff goes down in Han’s booth and that’s it. This set achieves nothing that the 2014 set didn’t except for more figures. Great to see all the new figures but they could’ve turned up in a battle pack, landspeeder set, a smaller cantina etc. I would’ve liked to see a duros or some other figures that could be done with existing parts over Kabe, because let’s be honest here, this Kabe figure is terrible. But one dud figure out of 20 isn’t a reason to not buy a set and at least it’s something new. Happy for those who will be getting this set but unless I can find a considerable discount on it I will be passing. Quote

When they enter the cantina with all those aliens, the universe feels legit, like a real thing. Not only humanoids and robots like your regular sci-fi movie ( i thought stormtroopers were robots when i was a kid) but yoda’s saber. Hmm why not Snaggletooth (or a different cantina alien) or something else cantina related? Quote

lego_guyon02 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Eh, the GWP isn't that special. It looks nice but I really don't see why anyone would want to go out of their way to get it, should be incredibly easy to bricklink if need be. Quote
wesker Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Yoda's lightsaber looks nice. After the helmet busts it only seemed like a matter of time before they started releasing lightsaber replicas. Still I do miss the exclusive character polybags, especially when they came with the display stands and cardboard backdrops. Quote
Tariq j Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 It’s a shame the GWP isn’t related to the Cantina but it’s still a really good one. I actually wouldn’t mind if they did more brickbuilt lightsaber handles like this one. Quote

They could have done with a micro scale Tatooine or Yavin 4. Or gone back to minifigs of course. Anyway, is this GWP limited to those purchasing the cantina? Or will it be a GWP for any SW set (like in previous Force Friday)? Quote
