They are too big, consume too much shelf space and, for me most importantly, they aren't comparable with the Creator Expert cars. Actually unlike the Batmobile this version of Ecto-1 does in fact look to be roughly in scale with the other Creator Expert vehicles. A 1959 Cadillac Ambulance is just a very large car in the first place. For me the Batmobile was an automatic skip because it wasn't to scale to the other cars. Ecto-1 being close (and possibly spot on) is a massive win. Quote

tafkatb Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 I'm honestly kinda surprised there wasn't a DeLorean Time Machine released this year - a lot of new merch was released for BttF's 35th anniversary (no idea why that's considered a momentous occasion, other than Universal trying to keep it relevant after 2015), and I remember seeing an internal document from TLG shortly after the Aston Martin's release discussing possibilities for further film tie-ins for Creator Expert cars, with the DeLorean at the top of the list. As for the Ecto-1 itself, it's an easy pass for me as I'm one of those heretics who prefers the 2016 Ghostbusters over 1984, but it is very well done and looks like a fun build with a lot of interesting techniques. Well, there’s always the franchise’s 40th anniversary in 2025. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted November 1, 2020 Posted November 1, 2020 I am satisfied with my small Ideas Ghostbusters, so I will pass on this bad boy, although it looks amazing. Now, if Lego came up with a UCS DeLorean, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Lego, are you listening? :( Quote

That was sarcasm, TLG already is the number one toy manufacturer and has been for a couple of years The set looks great, but the lack of minifigs is really bothering me more and more, especially since we’re not sure whether there will be regular sets as well. The rumours were always very unspecific in that regard. We only knew that there’d be at least one set, so this might be it Quote

Sure, customer feedback is important, but they don’t have to take EVERYTHING seriously As fans, it’s natural for us to express what we’d like to see, which sometimes leads to sets or themes we requested becoming a reality (e.g. the Harry Potter reboot or the 501st Battle Pack). However, we need to keep in mind that us AFOLs and TFOLs are still a (vocal) minority. A set (or theme) has to appeal to as many potential customers as possible, not just us. That way of thinking is a fatal flaw in many fandoms since a vast majority of the revenue comes from casual fans, not diehards Quote
Boettner Builds Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 So the early VIP release for the Ecto-1 is November 4th, but when are they going to reveal it?! Quote

Kit Figsto Posted November 2, 2020 Posted November 2, 2020 It looks great, although I do agree that it's odd that they don't seem to be including minifigures - I can't think of an example of a license UCS vehicle, minifigure-scale or not, that doesn't include figures (except for ones released under other themes, like the Creator Bond set or the Technic F&F Charger). Especially since the figures from the original Ideas set honestly would hold up really well, I don't even know if they'd have to change any printing. I probably won't be buying it, but it does look really fantastic and I think this bodes well for future movie vehicles at a similar scale (Jurassic Park Ford Explorer/Jeep, DeLorean time machine, Mystery Machine, maybe even KITT or Herbie) since we've now gotten 3 large-scale movie cars just this year. I thought none of the Creator Expert large scale cars included minifigs... So my guess would be that this is part of the Large Scale Vehicle series... Edited November 2, 2020 by JintaiZ Quote

The minifigures with printed arms in the GB HQ are much better than the Ideas set. So if they do ever do GB figures again, I hope they don't use the Ideas ones. Quote

This is part of those, it’s also based on the ghostbusters afterlife design, given the rc car ghost trap, the rust, and the images on the back, so any figs included would likely be spoilers as we still don’t know who or what the movies villain is, and don’t even have names for all 4 of the kids who will be the new ‘busters. So my guess would be that this is part of the Large Scale Vehicle series... They don't, but the box image didn't seem to have any Creator branding on it, was my point. Like, the Batmobile/Batwing were just "18+ Batman" in the same way that the UCS A-Wing was just "18+ Star Wars" or whatever. The Bond car, or even the non-movie branded Creator ones didn't include figures, but my point was that this one doesn't seem to be under the Creator line, unless I overlooked something on the box, which is strange since typically non-Creator UCS stuff does include the figures.
