and it's not like being released later means they'll be available for a shorter time.

Oh you pampered Americans . . in Australia, there’s almost always massive shelf upheaval every Christmas. As a general rule, by February you can’t find anything from even the previous August. There’s sometimes a couple of exceptions (I’m still seeing the Katana 4x4 everywhere and Harry Potter sets seem to have more longevity than most) but typically if you haven’t bought a set by New Year’s be prepared to pay aftermarket prices. I’m not sure whether it’s LEGO’s fault for not supplying retailers or retailers’ fault for not ordering stock from previous years, and Amazon sometimes has lingering supplies (so happy that Amazon finally came to AUS a couple of years ago), but sets that release in August here or heaven forbid September (remember the TROS Star Wars sets last year? I haven’t seen any of those since January), Australian AFOLs have a very narrow window to get them.

European Toy Market is moving more and more to online retail.

Even before COVID, toy shop companies were closing stores, some were bankrupt, some were taken over, but overall the number of physical stores is shrinking fast.

The opening of 2 LEGO stores won't compensate for that as those were mostly for the experience, and Build-a-Minifigure / Pick a Brick etc, as the regular sets can be bought via Lego.com.

COVID will just push physical toy shops even closer to closing (especially if not part of some large company), while online retail and transport companies are having "Christmas" type busy days, especially during March and April.

I don't remember the last time in 4.5 years (since I came back to LEGO) that I bought a larger set in a physical store.

Back to Ninjago 2020, planning to get this wave of sets for sure.

I never had Ninjago sets before, but just also ordered the Legacy 2019 Monastery + Samurai Mech sets (on discount) to get a ninja home base, a full team of Legacy Ninjas + Wu.

Getting 3 of those Skulkin via those 2 sets is nice, while season 13 has skeletons as well, there aren't a huge amount of them, unless they add a battle pack of some sorts later. (like they did with the Nindroids this year).

And if I wanted more, I could put the 3 heads (1 green) from the Skull Dungeon on the torsos of skeletons from for example Pirates sets.

Gotta say I like the newer Skull design a lot better compared to the original ninjago season 1 (2011), just looks much closer to the actual design they had on the cards artwork.

It's definitely a nice design! The ability to use a wider variety of headgear on it compared to the larger skull from Wyplash in 2011 is quite nice. And the skull you've pictured here from the Skull Dungeon could be particularly appealing for decorative purposes in other themes, considering it lacks the sort of cartoon eyes of the ones from the Legacy sets. I could definitely see it being used as decoration on a pirate ship or an ornament in a wizard's workshop. Thinking about it, i wonder if you could fit any type of "orb" around it for a modernized Alpha Team MOC...

It's probably early to start speculating about, but since there isn't exactly much (if anything) left to release this year we don't know about yet, what are the odds 2021 would be all Legacy sets? Maybe including things that appeared in the show that weren't made before, like that Serpentine Train.

I did hear a rumour about a Nya focused season. Honestly I just want to finally get a water dragon. Please.

As far as Legacy goes? More than anything I want a Legacy NinjaCopter. It was the best Ninja vehicle in Rebooted and it’s the only one they haven’t made from that wave (weird coincidence personally). Plus, as a Zane vehicle, it would mean Legacy Pixal, and/or (dare I say it?) a figure of Dr. Julian? Maybe?

Though I guess if any set was going to contain Dr. Julien it would have been the Legacy Bounty.

Maybe we’ll see a Legacy wave similar to the Day of the Departed line of sets; reimagined vehicles and minifigure designs reappropriated for a new storyline.

They’d have to do something a bit more for the tenth anniversary, seeing as we’ve had Legacy sets for the last couple of years. Just another Legacy wave wouldn’t feel all that remarkable.

I like the idea, but I don’t think Day of the Departed is the best example. Sure, the Ultra Stealth Raider is awesome, but what exactly is the Titanium Ninja Tumbler supposed to be a reimagining of? And you could argue that the Rock Roader is, in a very loose sense, a reimagining of the 2012 Tread Assault, AND I’ll give the Salvage M.E.C. a pass because I know it appeared in that Ninjago video game before it was a set, but I really don’t think DotD is a good example. I’d prefer to see something more akin to the ‘Classic Space Legacy’ sets they made in the TLM/2 line and the Ideas Mech from a while back. Revisiting the old stuff but building on it. The Serpentine Train would be great. (So would finally getting a Pythor with the Anacondrai tribe staff, but I know that’s a long shot.) Maybe even an updated and accurate Garma-Tron? I mean, look at the set, then look at how it was depicted in the show. There are Star Wars sets that could be considered more accurate than what we got in 2013.

Though I think absolutely everything pales next to the idea of finally getting an Overlord Dragon. I sorta hope the Overlord returns for Season 13 just so that we can get an Overlord Dragon.

Just went to my local retail store yesterday, and some of the Summer 2020 were on shelves. The ones they had included the Spinjitzu bursts, Wu's Battle Dragon and Journey to the Skull Dungeons.

So does anyone know if the sets release on August or September (or even later....)?

They have already released in Europe. Not sure about North America, though.

So MoM was referring to 'Master of the Mountain', here's our first trailer:

Not that great a trailer if I'm being honest. And seriously LEGO? Spiders again?!

Well, there are like 7 Spiders across 4 sets, so they certainly make some appearance .

Personally more bad guy figures would've been nicer compared to Spiders, the lack of a monster army builder set is the only flaw of the sets imo.

While it's only a 30 second teaser, I really live the climate here. Feels really unique.

It also looks like Skeletons, Goblins and Trolls are 3 different "tribes" who don't necessarily like each other. Seems like a cool concept.

Also, Skull Sorcerer looks REALLY creepy (as much as a Lego minfigure can be) and I absolutely love it.

Love the Journey set, the new sword just looks really nice , the small skull on the hilt is an excellent detail.

On it's own it's a bit one-sided set, with just an orc and a spider and a lava trap vs 3 Heroes, but certainly loved the build and the orange plates and trans-orange bricks to represent lava flows coming out of the rock.

It's nicely built around the BURP part, and I love the varied rockwork, and the small pieces don't inflate the price via piece count, very good value.

Minifigs are great as well, the shields, weapons, and outfits, set it apart from other Ninjago waves for sure.

The spinner piece/dice looks like good quality, and dual-molded looks great.

Certainly planning to combine it with more sets.

Lmk when the 2021 discussion is up.

It will go up when we get any substantial news about the sets wave; at this point, all we know is approximately how many words the title of the season is because of Tommy's blurred teaser.

It looks like "The ? and The ?" (both ? are small words). Guessing those aren't the actual titles.

Thank god cause I don't think Ninjago needs a CMF

I think they can release like a "people pack" -like those from City- with the characters that are missing
