Anything space-related is great for me, so rover for 50 is nice. I'm glad it's not a small set, too, judging from the price. The Pirate ship - I don't know. I love pirates, but this set means there will be no Pirates theme coming, and that's kind of sad. I was really hoping for Leaf theme to be the grand return of the pirates. Well, I guess this set (even though I don't like the idea of brick sales) and Pirate Bay is better than nothing. At least my wallet will be happy.

The Caravan set - also on the fence right now. For some reason, these campers/caravans start to seem to come out pretty frequently (especially if Friends are included in the calculation) and to me personally, it starts to remind of the trucks with helicopter/boat-type sets. I mean it could be good and all, but I'd rather see a house (like some of you mentioned above) or something completely different and original than another iteration of a camper.

I wonder if the Rover will be a space car or an off road car; I haven't looked at the original German post so I can't judge the accuracy of the Google translation.

Well shucks, according to @promobricks, their listing of the three summer sets translated from German spells out 31107 as Space Rover Explorer... :oh3:

PromoBricks - LEGO Innovations for the Second Half of 2020

Quote
  • 31107 Space Rover Explorer €49.99
  • 31108 Caravan €79.99

Pirate Ship at that price point sounds extremely promising!!! Unlike the popular opinion, I much prefer brick-built sails (I hate the use of non-Lego things like cloth in general) and at that price point it should be 1200 pcs or so. That's also great, because it means 2 other large pirate-themed sets as part of the 3-in-1 package. Those are going to complete my Pirate-themed amusement park very nicely, as I already have 3 of the old roller coaster sets.

Didn't a Creator Expert-style Fiat 500 make it to 10K on Ideas a couple years ago? I hope the creator of that project gets a free copy.

EDIT: Here's the link.  I don't think Lego needs to bend over backwards to avoid releasing, on its own and entirely of its own accord, sets which happen to be the same subject and same scale as projects that made it to 10K on Ideas, nor sets which happen to be the same subject and same scale as impressive MOCs from the AFOL community.  That would be too limiting creatively: Bob: "Hey Alice, how about we do this for a D2C next year?" Alice (checks notes): "Nope, Caroline did it on Ideas three years ago and Dan did it on Flickr a year and a half ago, that subject is off-limits."  But I do think it would be a nice courtesy in cases where a retail set happens to match a rejected 10K Ideas project for Lego to offer one or two free copies to the Ideas creator; it would be a relatively small increase in their marketing budget given the number of review copies that get sent out to RLFM sites.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that project... :shrug_oh_well:

I'll be interested to see the official images. IMO the 2018 Ideas submission was not up to the Creator Expert standards nor is the image on Brickchannel. So far I cannot locate the box images mentioned in that PromoBricks post.

There are pics if you look for the legoleaks hashtag on Instagram. It looks good, but very small and simple, which I guess makes sense because that's the way the car is.

Overall I like it, but for <1000 pieces, I hope it's not more than 120CAD.

Thanks, I had checked there earlier but it wasn't up yet. Much better than the 2018 Ideas version. It'll be a nice compliment to the Mini and Beetle so long as it's $89US or less.

Promobricks mentions a 79,99 euro price in germany, not sure how that translates to AUD/CAD, im expecting 80-90 EUR list price here in the netherlands, so with a discount 70-80 (looking at the mustang being only 11% below MSRP right now)

Mmmmh... ISS is 70 euro in Germany and 100CAD in Canada. I guess it'll be around the 110CAD mark, then.

I'm having trouble getting a sense of the width of the car. Is it 14 or 12 studs wide? I think I count only 12.

I agree, looks like 12. Windshield appears for be 10 wide with +1 stud on either side for the body panels. Front bumper looks 3 elements wide, 4 studs each.

Looks like the Pirate Ship has also leaked on Instagram. I was worried about the brick sails but they look good enough! Looks roughly Destiny's Bounty sized with less details, and while I would prefer a slightly larger scale, it seems like it will fit into a City/Ocean layout nicely. AND it comes with a shark build too! I foresee at least 2 of these in my future if the B and C models are at least passable.

Just saw the second pic of the Fiat (back of the box). I'm starting to like the model more and more, despite its simplicity.

Is this really an April release? Will we get an early access in mid-March? It feels like a very early leak - box pictures already, two months away from release.

The rear of the car is superb, the vintage suitcase (the irony of printed “stickers”!) is a perfect addition. Then there’s the engine bay, spare wheel in there, and retractable soft top. It’s a step up in quality from the VW Beetle IMO.

There was a quote from another topic:

@danth "Anyway I hope we can get some CLASSIC. THEMED. CREATOR. SETS. out of this. It would totally appeal to AFOLS! Give me SPACE, PIRATES, and CASTLE Creator sets, even if it's just one each per year. Up the price and make them epic. I will pay!"

There is already one with a pirate ship. Not sure for space rover explorer though.

Castle is something I'm looking forward to as a creator set. Lets hope for the best next year for that to happen.

This for sure, if they can't do a theme or wave, a big 3-in-1 Castle set would be very nice way to get figures and still be somewhat of an event.

Even if they had brick-built horses I'd take that over nothing , also the Castle doesn't have to be yellow.

In case of the US it would also be the 40th year since the Knight's Procession / Knights Joust / Yellow Castle in 2021 as they came out in 1981 in US.

Thank you very much for the news! :classic:

For Pirates fans and fans of not-in-City-scale vehicles this is for sure a nice summer wave.

But for someone like me who counted on another smaller fairground ride and mainly another townhouse (to add to the Café & Pet Shop and to the Toy Shop), the summer wave is only a disappointment!

How so? I love the Pirate Ship solely for the reason that I can display it in the pirate section of my amusement park. If you buy 3 of the old pirate coaster set to get 3 different attractions, you can have the new ship as a centerpiece and potentially adapt it as a souvenir shop.

Hey guys! Look what JANGBRICKS did with the burger truck

Saw that vid, loved both versions of the truck, one certainly makes a great toy with the suspension and the one with regular wheels imo still fits in City scale.

It's a Food truck, not a super-car, so 8-wide I can accept in this case.

And Burger Monster is a thing with similar shaped vehicles , it's a real company : http://burgermonster.net/

LEGO must have made it an actual monster-truck to avoid being too similar.

Alternate builds are the weakest part of the set.
