goatman461 Posted September 2, 2019 Posted September 2, 2019 (edited) With the fall of the Empire, non-human sentiments are reappearing in the Core Worlds. Some are disgusted by the migrants, many are profiting, more are sympathetic, few actually help. Contest Specifics: Build a non-human minifigure out of bricks. Must be in minifigure scale. Build a scene showing them traveling to the Core Worlds, arriving somewhere in the Core Worlds, or being visited by New Republic diplomats on their home world. Include a picture of the non-human you are portraying and a link to their Wookieepedia page. If you and Wookieepedia don't know where a species is from, you can use the planet on which they are seen in the canonical or expanded universe material. Please provide enough information for judges and other builders to find pictures or descriptions of the species. The Rules: Must be minifigure-scale. May not be a non-human as produced by LEGO. That means don't throw a molded Ewok head on a torso and call it an Ewok. The idea is to make unique, brick-built minifigures. Minifigure parts can be used (for example, the title pic has droid arms for legs and a helmet for a head), but use them in a unique way, ideally to create a non-human that they were not intended to represent. Droids are okay, as long as it is original (not produced by LEGO). So probe droids and battle droids wouldn't be original, but L3-37 or AZI-3 would be fine. Ideally these are droids with some personality, but if it is a unique representation without relying on LEGO molds, it should be okay. Feel free to check with Faction Leaders. All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Factions subforum, the title prefixed by [Factions Ep. 3] [Species - Home Sector - Home Planet] [Build Sector - Build Planet - Faction]. For example, “[Factions Ep. 3] [Skakoan - L9 - Skako] [M12 - Hosnian Prime - CFS] Techno Union Reformed”. You may post as many entries as you want. However, please be mindful of the quality of your builds. Judges reserve the right to award 0 points to exceedingly poor entries that seem to be taking advantage of this allowance. All entries must be entered using this form: Link to Submittal Form (When submitting the form, use the Home Sector and Home Planet for the non-human entry) All rules in the Core Rules topic apply unless otherwise stated in this explanation or the rules above. There are no restrictions on the size/form/content of the builds, as long as they follow the above described goals. The Episode will run from September 4th to October 31st. As long as it is still Oct 31st somewhere in the world, you can still enter. Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the episode and will not be eligible to receive points or XP. Entries will be judged according to the following rules: Your build can earn up to 50 points. The amount of points you earn is also the amount of XP your character earns. IP will be earned on the non-human’s home planet (not the location of your actual build), regardless of accessibility, IF YOU HAVE THE HIGHEST SCORING BUILD FOR THAT NON-HUMAN. This episode/contest is open to all players of Factions, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the episode has begun, with the exception of the Star Wars staff, who are not eligible to win XP or prizes; the EB admins and moderators, who are not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP; and the episode host, who is not eligible to win prizes but may earn XP. All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to the start date of this episode. You can use creations for this contest in other forums or contests, but it should not have been displayed before the start date for this contest. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation. All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer. No third-party molds may be used for the subject non-human. Post pictures no larger than 1024x768, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines. You may do a 'full-blown photo edit' with all the text, effects, background compositing, support erasing, and other effects on ANY picture. For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited,. All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC. The Prizes: You will receive XP equal to the number of points you are awarded from the judges. Your faction will receive IP on your non-human's home planet if you have the highest scoring build for that non-human. If more than one person builds a Quarren, only the best build will get the IP. If there is a tie, both builders will get IP. Your faction will not receive IP on the planet you are building. If you earn IP for a non-human from a planet containing a Holocron, you will be told at the end of the contest of the Holocron's presence on that planet, regardless of how much IP you receive on that planet. Darth Bjorn Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 What planet would be considered a 'home' planet if you build a droid? Quote
Moff Wibbles Posted September 14, 2019 Posted September 14, 2019 Mechis III might be a good bet. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Mechis_III/Legends Quote

Depends on the droid, but any planet that manufactures that type of droid would be fine. I have a bunny droid in the works for Coachelle. Quote
goatman461 Posted September 18, 2019 Author Posted September 18, 2019 When posting your build, be sure to post it to the planet you are earning IP for: the home world of the non-human. Quote
Darth Bjorn Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 So brick-built does not mean 'use bricks instead of minifig parts'? E.g. Instead of building a really creative alien of special bricks I could just pick a red minifig and call it a Zeltron? Quote

The point is to use your LEGO creatively to represent species of non-humans that LEGO hasn’t done well, using any parts at your disposal (except those LEGO has designed for the species). Hopefully we’ll get a nice catalog of non-humans out of this that others can use in their builds to make them more unique. Sorry for the confusion about “Brick-built.” I’m a sucker for alliteration and technically all minifigure parts are still bricks. Quote
Darth Bjorn Posted September 26, 2019 Posted September 26, 2019 @goatman461 In order to support faction story lines would it be ok to have faction diplomats (e.g. Imperial Emissaries of the Triumvirate) visit a species homeworld, rather than 'being visited by New Republic diplomats'? Quote

Absolutely. Important thing is a good build and a good representation of the species. Quote

Darth Bjorn Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 @Professor Thaum @MKJoshA Well scores will be scores...There doesn't seem to be a 'winning' faction in this episode... Quote
goatman461 Posted November 1, 2019 Author Posted November 1, 2019 It’s November 1st on Baker island, times up. It’ll probably take the judges longer than usual. Please be patient. Thank you for all the entries Quote
