Surge Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I guess there is a silver lining, It will be almost half the price! However that is likely a downside to some if not most. Just now, 8fifty said: So when do you guys expect the set to be released alternatively? In the past, Lego didn't hesitate to bring out two Ideas sets in two months in a row so is there a chance we can already get in in September? I believe the Piano was rumored to release November, so I would assume then. Quote

The fact that I have to wait even longer for Sesame Street really bothers me at the moment. A $350 set would have been something we could have expected a lot of... That surprised me as well as they are usually pretty reliable...but ok, they related to a listing on Amazon. Everyone can list products on Amazon so that seems to be another stage of spreading fake news ? So when do you guys expect the set to be released alternatively? In the past, Lego didn't hesitate to bring out two Ideas sets in two months in a row so is there a chance we can already get in in September? Probably in the fall November seems likely since it coincides with its 51st Birthday. Quote
Surge Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 what if Sesame Street has a working piano in it, that's possible right??!??! Quote

Well, that would at least spare my wallet a little bit because major release dates get pulled apart ? 15 minutes ago, Surge said: what if Sesame Street has a working piano in it, that's possible right??!??! 7982Brick2 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 The price point might not be as big as the Playable Piano but I’m sure the designers will do a great job with the set. Quote

Now that I think about it, during this year TLG didn't introduce a single mold that could be reused in this set, right? I wonder if this will be the first IDEAS with new molds.... Technically, that would be the Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie set, which introduced new hat molds for Mickey-as-Willie and Minnie. The molds were created for the second series of Disney Minifigures, but the Ideas set was released first. The first set to introduce any new part shape was the one before that, The Flintstones - the diecut textile element for the roof of the Flintstones’ car - but that doesn’t use a mold (new or otherwise), of course. The release date was set to November which would fit into Lego's usual policy that sets are sold exclusively for three months after which they go to a couple of retailers as well. I haven’t looked at outside info yet, but just following this discussion I can’t help but notice 21233 and 21323 are different numbers. You could both be right, with 21233 being the Piano and 21323 being Sesame Street. Quote
Robert8 Posted July 22, 2020 Posted July 22, 2020 But the CMFs are designed a year in advance So, they already had the molds in the works Quote

That is true, making new cloth parts doesn’t require a mold. The Pirates of Barracuda Bay also used new cloth sails designed exclusively for that set. Quote
8fifty Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 I can imagine that it's much cheaper to cut some fabric into specific shapes than to make new plastic molds by injection molding...but I really can't imagine minifigures of Sesame Street's characters without using specific molds ? I heard that the Winnie Pooh Ideas set will get new molds because a Disney series 3 CMF will follow - do you think it's realistic that it happens the same with Sesame Street? Quote

That is probably just to program the machine into cutting some new shapes and should be no trouble at all. A new mould however is more like inventing a completely new part for the machine from scratch and that cost a lot of money and takes time.. With the low budgets Ideas sets have a few new prints is probably all they can afford and the rest of the new parts they must "steal" from other themes like the designers on the Pirate bay did Quote
Robert8 Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I'm starting to wonder if something happened with this set Next month it will be a whole year since this was announced and we havent seen anything about it. Like nothing at all... Quote

Like minions came with the perfect Bert hairpiece. Do we know of any other upcoming sets or themes that might introduce new molds like that? Quote

However, the molds for the Sesame Street characters are far too unique. That’s if LEGO decides to go that route instead of just printing faces on regular minifigure heads. I think many people are waiting anxiously to see if this will be the first Ideas set with new molds that aren’t introduced before it’s launch or recycled from future products. Quote

Recent years have sometimes had 3 releases, sometimes 5 sets. Sometimes they are released out of order (Voltron being later than Women of NASA). Sometimes IDEAS sets are released close together, sometimes spread out. I imagine they will release when they are ready. Quote

I think many see 123 Sesame Street being the next set in line since the two projects that were approved alongside it are now sets. I still believe my theory about 123 Sesame Street being released in November since the show debuted in that month over 50 years ago. Edited August 12, 2020 by 7982Brick2 Quote

Pulp Detective Posted August 31, 2020 Posted August 31, 2020 It would be a shame if Lego doesn't utilize the medium short legs for the characters in this sets.Bert and Ernie for an example are perfect for those legs. Quote
