[GoC - FB - COR] Spirdkirk Forward Outpost

Follow the recent attack by the Loti on the budding settlement of Spudkirk, a forward outpost has been set up overlooking the harbor.

Located not far from the newly erected Fort Nithsdale, this watchtower will serve as a more effective way to monitor the new harbor until more defenses can be set up in the lower portions of the settlement.

The Marines stationed here are wearing the better suited jungle attire with wide brimmed hats to help with the sun. One of the sergeants has walked up to check on the men and make sure there is nothing unusual to report.

As this was hastily constructed, the men stationed here are currently living out of a tent until more permanent housing can be built for them. Most of the time was spent on the watchtower and cannon defenses.

My first entry for the GoC Strategic Outposts for Task #3. Ownership is forthwith transferred to the faction as per the task requirements. I believe either a military residence or a small fort would best suit this build. C&C are welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking!

Nice little outpost! It mixes well the style of a classic lego pirates build and a certain "Canadian Mounties" feel :classic:

Thank you! Yes, they do have a Canadian Mounties feel to it! I'm keeping it close to the style we created for the AMRCA of the Royal Marines stationed here. I'm glad you like my little build though!

A nice little scene, the wood-masonry tower looks quite good and the simple and effective use of parts reminds those sets I used to play with 30 years ago.

Thanks! I've got a good deal of olderish pieces as well as some newer stuff, so I just use what I got.

 from me. The bottom of the tower does reflect a classic pirate feel, though the top is more of a unique design. Good job at blending the two together. The fortifications look hastily contructed per the storyline, but I like that you have included some firepower with the watchtower. It would be a great first line of defense and warning. My favorite part of this build is the tent. Great job on its shaping. I also like the palm tree posing.

Areas for improvement. I know you are using the foliage to create the look of a new building in a formerly wild area. However, if a watchtower had just been constructed and with feet tramping through the area, there would be more dirt and less foliage right around the new constructions. The foliage works great farther away from the new construction, but not right in front where the soldiers are walking. So maybe include more pathway right under foot and use the foliage farther out. Also, I am not sure how well the modern hat works in the setting, though I think you were creative in your story to try and blend it in.

Thank you for the !

I went with the foliage to add some texture, but I see your point on why dirt would be a better option around the new construction. My original goal was to not make it just boring plates, but feel more like a jungle atmosphere. As for the 'modern hats', this was something that the RSND has incorporated a few times already in their first exploration builds for the AMRCA, so I was just extending that story thread in a way.
