Lasse D Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 (edited) This was my first Moon Base module to begin building and last to finish. I began already in January and it took me a day just to find out how to build the wheels, then another day to make the wheel assemblies. When it was put on display, the Spyrius module blocked the view for these details, so here they are unobstructed. It is a supply module for both power, food and replacement parts. The transports can connect the crates to the special end connection. There is also a reskin of the MM Trike. It has a power core so it can work outside the power sphere of the Zebra. I have tried to give the greeble a purpose (is that not an oxymoron?). The power core sparks are made using transparent orange robot hands. The mandatory landing platform is a removable end connection. Use the ladders to crawl inside. The radiation is the least of your worries Brickshelf gallery. Edited August 11, 2008 by Sinner Quote
Asuka Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Amazing. Original and very creative in shape and design, smart and ingeniously in its execution. The wheeled piles´re simply great, the sail-like structure looks plain beautiful and the small landing platform´s a nice additional detail. The black greeble looks very organic, and all these nifty little vehicles look fine and functional as well. A great work indeed. Quote
KDog Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I'm breathless. That's phenomenal. I love the huge, church-like arch. Quote
MacK Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Thats amazing , you've made a very orginal moon base. Its big yet very detailed as you've thrown in so many greebles and other details . The giant sail or whatever it is looks great, and makes this model unique. The little vehicles you've built for it are also good the MM trike is my favorite of them. Is there an interior for this beast? In short great work, I eagurally await another MOC from you. Quote
DJ Force Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Can´t tell how much I like this! It´s a beautiful masterpiece! Quote
Lasse D Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 Thanks for the positive remarks guys. I was actually quite skeptic about how this creation would be received, being all white and black and stressing the bricks in, what has to be, illegal ways. Is there an interior for this beast? In short great work, I eagurally await another MOC from you. I wanted to make an interior, but there are no big doors or entrances, so I sufficed with a couple of boat weights: I'm a huge Sci-fi fan and watch a lot of it, but the inspiration for this module is actually from Spiderman 2 now that I think of it. There is a power core suspended between metallic arches and the smaller arms keep it in check. I expect my next Space creation to be a mothership with focus on playability, but it might end up looking good enough to post as well. I have been planning it for the last year, but there isn't much free time to build in. Quote
Clonecommando007 Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I've been browsing around at the builders lounge all day, but this is the best thing I've seen so far! I've also seen this in a picture or two next to a ginormous moon base; I couldn't find other pictures of the base in your folders. Is there another folder with lots of pictures of the huge moon base? Please PM me with the link if you have it. Quote
Lasse D Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 It is hard to find someone who has taken a lot of pictures of the moon base layout, but there are some scattered around if you search for "Klodsfest" (2008) on Brickshelf. There are a couple in this gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery....314831&n=48 We are gathering pictures at the moment. Quote
I Scream Clone Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) That is a very well designed base! How did you achieve the sail look with the angled bricks, is it black plates between the white to wedge it out? I remember having Futuron when i was a kid, and it was such a cool step up from the original plain minifigs. Keep up the cool work! Edited May 8, 2008 by I Scream Clone Quote
Plural Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 This one really dumbfounded me. I really can't express in words how awesome it is. But I'll try: It is very, very awesome. Quote
Quarryman Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 This left me speechless, well done! I've been considering building a moon base module or two myself for some time.. maybe this is the kick/inspiration I need to get started And don't worry about the "illegal" techniques, we all use them at one time or another Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Wow this is a truly amazing MOC, I love it! The curved design is fantastic even if it is un-orthodox! The greebles and wheels are also very good. Overall you get an 11 out of 10! Quote
