obijon Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 (edited) NEW Models will appear in replies later in this thread Models in this thread: RAZOR CREST RIOT MAR'S STARFIGHTER NEW REPUBLIC PRISON SHIP OUTLAND TIE FIGHTER IMPERIAL DROPSHIP JUGGERNAUGHT TREXLER MARAUDER COBB VANTH'S SPEEDER 546-CLASS CRUISER (ARQUITENS) RAZOR CREST Hello everybody I thought I would take a short break from building stuff from the animated series and build something “real”. Also what better way to celebrate the launch of the first live action Star Wars TV series than by building something out of LEGO?! Unfortunately being in the UK I might have to wait to actually watch it. ☹ Anyway I present my MINI version of the Mando’s starship ‘The Razor Crest’. And I must say I am really pleased with how this little model turned out. I am especially pleased with how the engines have turned out. At first I was not sure how to attach them and keep them at the right level but in the end I settled on the minifigure neck brackets. The engines themselves are built around a 1x1 brick with studs on the sides and the two ends of the engines are connected with a 4L Bar. I also think those grey ingot pieces give the shape perfectly. The ship also goes from 1 stud wide to 2 and back again so I could use those new triangle tiles for the rear ramp section. I have also made the usual ‘Planets’ style display with the new Mandalorian minifigure. I could go on but I will let the model speak for itself. Let me know what you think. Jon PS. Is it just me or does this ship remind anyone else of the ‘Serenity’ from Firefly? Edited August 24, 2022 by obijon Quote
GilbertoAguilera101 Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 That looks really incredible! I’d love to get a parts list and instructions somehow. I wouldn’t post it anywhere but would still give you credit if I did! Quote
obijon Posted November 15, 2019 Author Posted November 15, 2019 Thanks very much. I don't have the free time to do instructions I'm afraid but I will try and post some exploded pictures in the next week or so to show how it was built. Quote
neonic Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 I like this one. Looks great. Always cool, those tiny creations. So tiny and so detailed. Quote
Gomek Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 I find interesting that your not using the gun from the set. In the show I absolutely loved the fact that the Mandalorian uses the gun from the Christmas Special. In the set though, the gun is mailed in (IMHO) and really deserves a mold. Quote

He does have more than one gun after all! Edited November 16, 2019 by obijon Quote
Retro Posted November 18, 2019 Posted November 18, 2019 Really nice. The quality of the photos make it look like a little work of art. Quote
obijon Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Thanks very much. Not had compliments about photography before. Credit goes to the iPhone and arctic filter on windows photo editor! Quote
roadstermatt Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 looks great and yes there is a resemblance to Serenity / Firefly Quote

obijon Posted November 21, 2019 Author Posted November 21, 2019 Thanks again everyone. 16 hours ago, Gomek said: oh, I see it now. Hide contents I like the ship and was worried it had met it's end in episode 2 Yes it is a very nice design. There is definitely Something about being built as a model rathe than CGI. Quote

Not to turn this into a thread about the show.. but.. Perhaps one of the reasons I like the Mandalorian is because it feels more like the original Star Wars. This is sort of a funny way to look at it, but I wonder if having a TV budget (albeit a big TV budget) helped force the producers to shy away from too much CGI. Quote
qertzie Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Hello, I would pay good money for the instructions and brick list, please contact Me at Jmlapeyre67@gmail.com I love this ship design and personally think its the best out of all the mini razor crests I have seen Quote

Hello i know you haven't yet complete instructions for this tiny build, but I would pay you for an instruction manual and a part list, I would pay anything from £5 - £20 just email Me at Jmlapeyre67@gmail.com Thank you :) Quote
obijon Posted November 23, 2019 Author Posted November 23, 2019 Thanks for the interest and nice comments but as I have previously said I will not be preparing instructions as I do not have the time with work and family commitments. i have also been ill the last week so not got around to taking and posting the exploded pictures yet. It is not that complicated a build so those pictures should give you what you need as and when I get round to them. Quote
obijon Posted November 25, 2019 Author Posted November 25, 2019 Hello everyone, as promised here are some pictures of the build in various stages of completion and taken apart. This should allow anyone who so wishes to build this little model. If anyone requires any further help with the build just reply below. Happy building. Quote
roadstermatt Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 many thanks but some of the pictures don't seem to be working for me at least Quote
roadstermatt Posted November 25, 2019 Posted November 25, 2019 its fine now could have been my p.c having a wobble Quote
JoeChu1980 Posted December 2, 2019 Posted December 2, 2019 thank you very much for sharing the MOC idea, and even better the instruction step by step, BTW, the way you display mini ship and MF and label are very impressive Quote
obijon Posted December 3, 2019 Author Posted December 3, 2019 Thanks again. I must admit I can’t take all the credit for the displays. The LEGO planets sets were a favourite of mine after all! Quote
native1 Posted December 20, 2019 Posted December 20, 2019 @obijon First off great job on your moc! I went ahead and recreated it in Studio 2.0. Would you mind if I shared the digital model file on in this thread? Quote

It is the sort of thing I would have done myself before my son took away most of my free time. Edited December 20, 2019 by obijon Quote
obijon Posted April 13, 2020 Author Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) RIOT MAR'S STARFIGHTER Hello again everyone The Lockdown has given me the chance to watch this excellent series. There aren't too many new ships to build from it (after the Razor Crest) but the Bounty Hunter Riot Mar's Starfighter is one of them. It does fly accross the screen really fast though! This is quite a simple build. The long nose is only 2 studs wide so I have used a few plates/tiles to try and give it the illusion of being tapered. The engines attached to the wings have been built using 1 x 1 brackets and plates/ingots at either side of the wing to hold them in place. I have added this to the thread for Razor Crest as I did not think this ship deserved its own thread. I have also had to make a custom Riot Mar minifig - all with official parts. The flight suit is the old Bossk torso if anyone is interested. More new stuff soon. Jon Edited August 14, 2020 by obijon Quote
