Hi there,

this the car I have been working on since I finished the NSX, a Mazda RX7 with a complete bodykit from the Rotary Tuner "RE: Amemiya".

This is the first LEGO car I know of which features a rotary engine with rotors moving like the real thing. I developed the engine just so I can build this car, and I am very happy with the result.

I left the front of the engine open, so you can see the rotors moving inside.

This is still very much a WIP, but i think you can get a good idea of where this project is going. I hope y'all like it

It's certainly a great start.  Good shaping on the bodywork already, and looking forward to seeing the rest!

I am sorry to disappoint, but my models will always be manual, to fit my 6 speed manual transmission. I love transmission building 

To be honest trying to move a 3kg Model at reasonable speed with LEGO motors seems almost impossible to me

While the rotors are visible in the engine, they are still almost invisible right now because of their black color. I will change the Rotor color to yellow later. 

Here you can see a single rotor prototype I made a while back :)

All right that's an explanation :) Bad sadly so it's the slightly smaller arches from the smaller Porsche?

I joined the Dark Side of the Brick if ya know what I mean XD

 

These are full sized Wheelarches like you find them on the 911 GT3 RS, to get that out of the way.

I love the RX7 and I love this MOC! The headlights are perfect!

Yeah, I made some huge progress, and I really wanted to do a update before christmas, but I couldn't do it :(

Now I am at my Grandparent's, and the next update will have to wait until my next Bricks&Pieces order arrives. The update will probably be in early/mid January then.

Thx for following the build, Ill try to update more frequently in the future :)

Somewhat, but not quite. My RX7 Bodykit is different at a few places, less flush, and i will have a big wing, and the turbo inlet though the right headlight, and a few other differences. It will be different, but I did see TJ Hunt'S RX7, its really nice 

Please consider TCP Magic, rocket bunny or LBW body kits asntjeyvate some of the nicest ones out there :) looking forward to the next update:)

So, at last it is finally it is time to show some progress 

The Car now has a full rollcage in it, and it's not just for show. It really helped to stiffen up the chassis, and now you can just grab the car at the roof and pick it up! 

I added two small linear actuators to lit up the huge hood, and it works really well, and odens quite far 

Its operated by turning the small gear on the passenger side.

The rear is still very much WIP.
