That new episode was FILLED with lore and references.

It would seem that this new mando episode gave us a confirmation on what we long suspected, that they will try to to connect everything together, including the sequel trilogy. Thoughts? Were the 'droids' or rather suits at the end of the episode Sith Eternal clones or something else entirely? Many people seem to think they were some iteration of dark troopers. Do they somehow tie in to Palpatine's resurrection program or athere own thing? Was blown away by this episode tbh. We also saw Aqualish, Mimbanese, TCW references and much more.

Indeed it was!

Spoiler

Dark Troopers is my initial theory as well. And I agree that this project they're working on -which I believe is cloning- will be related to Palpatine's return in TROS.
Aside from the Arquitens, did you see any more TCW/Rebels references? :sweet:

This latest episode was the best of the season so far. So much excitement.

Spoiler

He finally has a name! I loved his response to hearing Mando say it. Adorable. Ahsoka was brilliant, Dawson looks perfect  I loved all the history told there, about Grogu. And bringing Rebels into it with Thrawn, that was a bit of a shock...I thought for sure Moff Gideon. I wonder who the Jedi Snips sending them to is...

And to a minor thing from last week that I’ll put in spoilers as well, just in case...

Spoiler

Blue macaroons. Seeing them for sale...for $50. Nice to see the LEGO Star Wars tax isn’t just for LEGO anymore...

I fully agree! Dawson performed Ahsoka perfectly.
Not sure how I feel about Thrawn being mentioned, but in-universe wise, my guess is she only pretends to look for Thrawn 'cause he was last seen with Ezra and that she's actually still looking for him instead.
Loved the mention of Tython as well. Hope to see that soon, and I'm curious too as to who the other Jedi (possible plural?) we might end up seeing. I'm cautiously hopeful for Luke

I’m not too well versed on Thrawn(haven’t watched that season of Rebels....yet. No books either. But I know he’s a bit of a fan favorite though. I kinda think this Jedi, if it’s one, could be Ezra as that would further expand the connection of the different shows. Having it be Luke woulda be awesome. I’d love to see that interaction.

I really enjoyed last weeks episode but this episode just takes the cake as my favourite chapter this season.

Spoiler

Boba was awesome! I loved that they had him using the gaderffii and the shot of him when he put on the armour again. Temeura Morrison nailed it in this episode. I liked the design of the dark troopers. Hopefully we’ll see them in action later in the season.

About the Razor Crest (RIP)..... I’ve heard some people theorising Boba might die at the end of the season and Mando would use Slave I as his new signature ship.

Aaauugh!! What an episode *oh2*

Spoiler

Boba Fett appearing at this moment was an interesting surprise, but a fantastic one, indeed! Glad to see him in his armor again.
The nod to the sequels with the dropships was nice, too.
Razor Crest getting shot to pieces was the bigger tragedy for me, than The Child being taken, actually  :innocent:
Loved seeing the Dark Troopers as well. Hope to see them in action, in a following episode. There's only two more to go, though. Right?
Guess the next few episodes will be about gathering allies and rescuing Grogu.
Speaking of, the scene of Grogo in his cell, messing with the stormtroopers and Moff Gideon wielding the Darksaber was very nicely done.

If they do, I hope it gets a repaint, to be honest. Something black and gray or something, I dunno. Would make a cool LEGO version :sweet:

Is it really necessary to use spoiler tags all the time? It makes reading the posts pretty annoying, and the spoiler-tag is already included in the name of the thread. So people may and should be well aware of possible spoilers.

Edited by Brickadeer

I've been wondering that too, every time I visit this topic, and I can't seem to decide :')
So, let's just give it a try without tags :innocent2:

Today's episode was another great one. I wasn't looking forward to Mayfeld's reappearance when it was strongly implied in the previous episode, 'cause he's such an a-hole, but I'm glad he displayed some redeeming behavior in this episode. I even laughed occasionally because of him.

Loved the look of the Juggernaut Transport (or whatever it's official name is). Would be nice to get a LEGO set of that, but it's not likely
Otherwise, it was a thrilling episode with good story and some well-placed humor every now and then. Nothing major, though, but I guess that'll be saved for next week, haha.

Regards,
Mitch

I liked that episode as well. I kind've thought it would be filler at first but they revaled some cool stuff about Mayfield's past. I got some Indiana Jones vibes on the juggernaught chase scene.

I'd love to see that in LEGO form. I am a little dissappointed at the lack of Mando sets this year but I guess certain spoilers like the return of Boba restrict what LEGO can and can't do.

I dunno, I'm quite satisfied actually. I mean, every LEGO set based on this show is or contains something purely from the show. The ship, the characters. And 2021's set will add the Beskar version of Mando.
Things like the Juggernaut and Arquitens Cruiser are very cool, and, though originated in this show, can still be used for more general use.

Anyway, what I wanted to say as well...
Regarding Din Djarin taking off his helmet; at first I was like, "nooo, don't do it!", because I kinda felt it would take away the magic of it.
But then I realized Bo-Katan mentioning his branch of Mandalorians is an off-shoot of the Death Watch, so 'The Way' may have been somewhat indoctrinated by the Vizlas.
Therefore I'm actually glad to see he's becoming a bit more open to adapting a less strict lifestyle.
I mean, as frequently posted on social media, every other Mandalorian in previous shows take their helmets off all the time...

Mitch

I don't think Disney will waste this character so soon after he was brought back from the dead and made quite an impression on the audience :) He's good for marketing and the franchise, so he will live.

Yes :) Together with the fighting on the juggernaut, it reminded me of Ventress in TCW s04 e20.

Holy crap what an amazing episode!!
Definitely the best one if you ask me. If only because of the inclusion of the Jedi

When that single X-Wing arrived and all the Dark Troopers stopped moving, I had my suspicions as to who it was, and I started giggling which became fullout laughter as the possibility of it being him became more and more real.
Ohmygod, fantastic scenes with him
Too bad it wasn't Sebastian Stan (at least, I don't think so), as a lot of people thought would make a good version, but this was still genius.

Ugh. Love it, love it, love it :purrr:

Also, that mid-credit scene!

Fat Bib Fortuna

Great stuff as well, excited to find out where this will lead!

Forgot to mention someting.

I have some mixed feelings about the season finale.

I think that they found Moff Gideon and his cruiser too easily, and that they captured Gideon too easily, and that they rushed through the cruiser and the troopers too easily. At the end, I expected Ahsoka to come, so it was a surprise to me. But still, the finale lacked too much plausibility.

In chapter 13, Ahsoka should have sensed the presence of Grogu, and she should have sensed that the Mandalorian didn't pose a threat to her. But I think the makers of the series wanted them to fight so people could learn that even a light sabre cannot cut through Beskar. But for the mentioned reasons, that scene lacked plausibility as well.

Other than that, I liked the season and the cameos, e. g. in chapters 15 (Richard Brake) and 16 (Luke Baines and Thomas E. Sullivan).

The Jedi was definitely CGI look at the mouth when it talks.  Nice episode although it felt a bit rushed to me.  I thought they were going to flesh out the rescue of Grogu until next season.  But good season in all.  Can't wait for season 3.

Yeah, no, it was a different actor with a bit of CGI-ing of the original actor's face. Like they did with his sister in Rogue One
They did use the voice of the original actor

@Brickadeer I agree about Gideon being captured somewhat too easily. I didn't expect that to actually happen already. But I'm sure he'll escape at some point or something.

Also, what do you guys think will happen, generally, in the next season? Since Grogu left with the Jedi (and his astromech buddy ) I was thinking we'd see a lot less of him, or maybe not at all. But considering his popularity he might still be present a lot after all.
I do hope, however, we'll find out more about Mandalorian culture and history and such.

Mitch

Well, first of all, I think that Grogu's destiny will be further explored in the animated "droids" film since it was hinted that it'll be about R2-D2, C-3PO and a "mysterious new hero".

As for "The Mandalorian", we know that there will be three series that will have an overarching and integrating theme. We can speculate and assume that Gideon and Pershing's research is somehow related to the creation of Snoke, the Emperor, or both. We don't know, however, how this relates to Mandalore and the fates of Bo Katan, Ahsoka, Grand Admiral Thrawn, and possibly Ezra Bridger. And I think they are aiming at creating a new side story that go beyond Episode 9 and prepare the stage for films after that time.

I imagine we'll definitly some more about the Darksaber. Although Didn't Sabine give it willingly to Bo Katan in Rebels though. I hope we see Mandalore in the next season.

On a slightly related note "The Book of Boba Fett" looks quite interesting. Looks like it's going to explore the underworld/crime syndicate stuff.

Yeah - maybe Gideon's explanation stems precisely from this experience. In that case, she should be happy that it was stolen, though ^^ The question remains why he didn't claim Mandalore for himself.

Oh, cool! Didn't know that yet :sweet:
Interesting theory about setting things up for movies after TROS. I would like to find out more about what Pershing was up to.
@Tariq j I assume the Darksaber will be fleshed out more as well. Especially if, as I indicated I hope even more, they go focus more on Mandalore.

So many fantastic prospects! :purrr:

The show continues to be... okay.

*spoilers*

I don't care for cameos. I really don't. They tend to add nothing except your ability to look at something and say "LOOK! It'S STAR WARS! THAT IS STAR WARS! I KNOW THAT! AMAZING!"

Their strategy for getting the kid back was to freakin' just storm in and kill a few hundred Stormtroopers? There's absolutely ZERO tenseness. There's no risk. I'm 100% certain if I lived in that universe I could go in there and kill all the storm troopers and the emperor himself, myself. All you have to do is stand confidentely with zero cover and shoot a lot. Don't worry, they'll miss. Oh wait, they hit? Don't worrry, the Buscar makes him invulnerable so it doesn't matter.

The show has zero character. The characters are all boring and stoic. The show has zero tenseness or risk. The show isn't as bad as the 7 or 8 (which at least had character though) but it's not that great either. The show has no heart, if you think baby Yoda and Mando's bond is heart you've fallen for the trick and now have to go buy baby yoda products, w00t materialism and capitalism has won by designing a character purely for merchandise! (Luke also looked god-awful with his horrible CGI face).

What a finale. First....Mandalorian Fighter!:moar: The fight between between Gideon & Mando was pretty good. I kept yelling “grab the spear!” Seeing that X-Wing...I didn’t know who to expect...until I saw the glove. I was in tears when the hood came down. And Grogu’s reaction to seeing him on the screen was cool...can’t wait to see that relationship develop. I love that that species trained him to become a Jedi, now he’s returning the favor.

The teaser for The Book, that was awesome. Bib looking like he’s eating well.

There's no chance you'll really see that IMO outside of comics/books/the new expanded universe. Dealing with fake-CGI luke would probably be both ineffective and horribly expensive.

I think so too. It'd be great to see more of that, but not in The Mandolorian or any of the upcoming live-action series.
Like Brickadeer suggested, if Grogu & Luke will be further explored onscreen, it'll probably be in the Droids series.

Mitch
