Still< I really like that CMF idea, pack set, etc. Same, what about Lego sets that just sell 1 dinosaur for like $5-10 ($15 probably real price if that happened though)?

Why do you think LEGO would completely make up 3 sets? I originally didn't like the 2019 sets, THEN I watched the Isla of Nublar series with my son and it made me want to purchased all of them. For another Owen, another Raptor, and another Sinjin? This set doesn't make much sense to me other than it being for juniors/4+. I'm going to wait until its on discount eventually. I don't really like the Gallimimus set, $50 for a small Dinosaur and the 5th Pteranodon from the Jurassic World sets. I think the removable mini-lab is kind of cool but I don't really like the research vehicle. I love your Dr. Wu's Lab + Stygi lab combination. I don't have the skills or parts to mirror your build. I'd love to see a photo(s) of what you've built! My son would probably like that too and maybe we can re-create. I didn't even know about the Lab in the Lockwood Estate. My son is almost 5, and I didn't get that set because it feels more of like a display than something he can play with at his age. And, again, another Owen and Blue raptor that we already have. I just bought the Indoraptor individual figure off eBay. I watched the Lockwood Estate on youtube, didn't even know about that Lab section! Looks really sweet though. Maybe it will be on sale somewhere and I'll grab it. I also really like the I-Rex Breakout (2015) just seems really expensive off eBay, where is the lab for that in the top watch tower? So the set that I like the most is probably the Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase (2018) but surprisingly, my son NEVER touches this set, as hes never seen the movies yet. I'm considering breaking this set-up completely as you said. Use the Embyro Cold Storage section as part of Wu's Lab maybe. 75932 is such a cool set but it doesn't seem like it flows/plays well? Maybe you can take that middle triangle section with the door that locks and merge it with another set.

It's not really a proper playset but it's not really a display set either, it could be used really well for both things really! It's also very mod-ready, if you want to turn it more into a display or playset it's pretty easy to do. The lab in 2015's Indominus Rex set is indeed located in the watch tower, it's very small but I guess it's something. I don't think you've missed much if you missed out on that set (especially with the Indominus' rerelease last wave), I'm a massive fan of the Jurassic franchise and I don't have any of the 2015 sets (it wasn't a particularly good year for me). The only thing really noticeable when it comes to those sets is how ridiculously expensive they've become. The Velociraptor Chase never really struck me as a playset either, more like a ''we'll give this to the JP fans so they can stop moaning about the lack of sets'' thing
mon-o-mat Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Talking about combining different sets: Am i the only one, that finds it weird, how we had about half a dozen sets containing fences but all with different styles and not two of them designed to be combined? And I don't know if selling the Dinos on their own or at least in sets that would contain much less additional bricks would be really that bad for buisness. Just think about it: How many kids would like to have a T. Rex but can't afford the 70-100+€ a set containg one would cost. But at 20€ or even 30€? Despite being much more expensive then the "Dino price" you have to pay extra on the larger sets. The same with smaller Dinos. I could even think of a large variety of very unique Dinos as collectible items. Each one prominent visible in a clear plastic container with a bit of landscape or a single figure.

It's definetely weird and it's been annoying me for quite some time. Just pick one style and go for it, only deviate from it if absolutely necessary. One thing you'd also have to consider when it comes to single dinosaurs is Mattel. I don't know how it's all handled legally but just assuming Mattel doesn't have an ''all-inclusive'' deal like Hasbro has/had for Marvel and Star Wars I definetely think it would get to similar to their products. And that would also bring the problem of ''pointless'' competition. If LEGO starts selling their T-Rex's (for example) seperately they'd still cost about 20-25 euro, for that same price you can also purchase a Mattel dinosaur which (admittedly) has a ton more playvalue than LEGO's dinosaurs and are also bigger. Just some thoughts

I could see taking apart the Lockwood Estate and making something else with like, like a Dinosaur Vet hospital or something. Maybe taking the triceratops skull and putting it with the Triceratops rampage set or something like that. 2015 - I agree about these sets, they seem REALLY COOL for 2015, but I think new sets have replaced their need. T-Rex Tracker (2015) --> T-Rex Transport (2018) // Raptor Rampage (2015) --> I like the truck from the Carnotaurus Gyrosphere (2018) much better. The only 2015 set I have is the Raptor Escape because of the gate/fence is kind of cool, but I had to pay 150% retail for the set off eBay. *EDIT* - I also think the 2015 sets are cool because they appear in the Indominus Escape Lego short film. Have you broken up or used the velociraptor set in any MODs/MOCs? Thanks, -Nizzy Edited July 16, 2020 by Nizzy adding details.

I've been thinking about that all the time. I just ran and took these Photos of our current play set-up. My son takes all the gates/fences from all the sets and makes a perimeter first. Combination of the Stygimoch lab, Triceratops rampage, Raptor escape, and the Dilophosaurus gates. Unintended, some of them do physically connect with each other quite nice. https://ibb.co/DLmrKtQhttps://ibb.co/TYC6SMNhttps://ibb.co/P48K9qx I don't have a problem if the yearly sets are different but I think if they release 4 sets per yearly wave, then those sets should be designed to be combined somehow. I really agree with your thoughts about the kids and playing with these Legos. My son wanted the Triceratops so bad, but he never touches that merry-go-round ride. He just wants the dinosaurs and the fences/minifigures. This is why I really like the Jurassic World Junior/4+ sets. They're decently prized, easy to them to build without much supervision. My son literally just wants the Indoraptor because of all of the custom MOC/MOD videos of it on youtube. His favorite sets are the Blue helicopter and T-Rex Transport. He flys/transports dinosaurs all over the house and into/out of the cages.
Lion King Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 I just got Galliminus and Pteranodon Breakout a fewq days ago and I am personally pleased with Gallimimus figure! vstat05 Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 Either way new molds aren’t cheap and I doubt they’d ever let new dinosaurs be available in anything cheaper outside of normal sets, they’re the whole reason they get marked up.

The sets would be able to connect (Similar to the Lego trains how they had sort of expansion packs for your train tracks etc), for example: -Maybe a small $15 set that has a fence and 2 army builder Procompsognathus. -Then maybe a $20 set that has a gate, some trees and a Struthiomimus (using Gallimimus parts obviously) -Also maybe a $50 set that has a Hammond Creation Lab and a Ceratosaurus. -Maybe a $100 set that has a small Fence, a viewing Gallery, a feeder, a single broken fence and an ACU helicopter with a Tyrannosaurus Rex. -Maybe a $50 set with a transport helicopter and a Stegosaurus. BrickBob Studpants Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 I‘m not opposed to discussing new ideas, far from it, but they have to be at least somewhat plausible TLG will never release dinosaurs separately since removing one of the major selling points from the sets is definitely not what I would call a smart business idea. That‘s if they started to sell minifigs included in the larger Star Wars sets for 3$ or suddely made the CMF bags transparent And next year will in all likelihood be dominated by Dominion sets, there‘s no way around that. If the theme continues into 2022, we might see sets based on other parts of the franchise.

It wasn’t my idea and no, it probably isn’t realistic, but I still don’t think we should be calling each other’s ideas “dumb” regardless of the context. There are other ways to express an opinion (as you just did so well) that aren’t so rude and argumentative. Anyway, the point has been made. Back to LEGO! I also agree that it’s clear next year’s sets will largely be based on JW Dominion. But this movie will be the first to fully take place in the “real world” - not in the fun park environment that the previous Jurassic films have been... I wonder if LEGO is worried about how this will translate into sets that kids will want to buy. Could we possibly be getting another season of LEGO’s Legend of Isla Nublar so there can be a few more age-appropriate sets based in the park? My dream would be for JW Dominion (or one of the future JW films) to feature Jurassic World Europe and Jurassic World Japan, which were mentioned in the original Jurassic Park novel. Ultimately, as long as the sets feature cool new dinos, I don’t think it will matter much to kids. Speaking of cool new dinos, what dinos are folks hoping we get in the new wave? My list is below! - Stegosaurus - Parasaurolophus - Mosasaur - Spinosaurus - Brachiosaurus 6 hours ago, AxolotlPlays said: The sets would be able to connect (Similar to the Lego trains how they had sort of expansion packs for your train tracks etc), for example: -Maybe a small $15 set that has a fence and 2 army builder Procompsognathus. BrickBob Studpants Posted July 17, 2020 Posted July 17, 2020 JW:D might have resumed filming (and the set images definitely look interesting, no spoilers ), but there are rumours that No Time to Die could be pushed back from November to next summer, which would endanger JW:D‘s slated release date, seeing how both are Universal productions. All things considered, JW:D is not guaranteed to be released next summer, which would have repercussions for the sets too. Allegedly, Universal will decide about NTTD soon, so if JW:D does get pushed back too, there should be enough time for TLG to come up with a replacement wave. After all, they surely don‘t want another Minions situation on their hands
