Nizzy Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Thoughts on part 1 of Double Trouble: Spoiler I ended finding a stream online to watch Nick. I wouldn't mind paying a monthly subscription (like Disney+) for Nickelodeon but I do not want to pay for full cable. Anyways, I thought the episode started off really slow. It's a kid show, and I noticed it took a while before Dinosaurs got involved. My son kept asking questions about wheres the dinosaurs, whats happening, he didn't understand the A.I. take over concept, etc. He seemed disinterested until the end. Also, the commercials did not help. I bought all of the Jurassic World Lego episodes on Vudu so he's not used to the commercials. I didn't really enjoy the episode. I know that Dinosaurs breaking out is played out, but I'm also tired of the evil A.I. plots. I do not plan on buying the 75940 Gallimimus set, but I felt like they purposely tried to show off the research vehicle in this episode but kind of failed. It's a research vehicle, not an ACU capture dinosaur tank. Looks like Vic Hoskins gets back on his drone in the next episode. Good thing they gave us Owen in that baby Dilpo set instead of the only guy in the show that rides it! So I hope the next episode is better. Looks like the 2 baby I-Rex and the adult T-Rex end up causing a lot of ruckus. Still wondering whats up with this Bi-plane raptor set. Seems completely made up and won't be in any shows, so whats the point?

As for the Biplane set: it's a 4+ set, those (and Juniors before them) have never really been based on movies or shows. Just look at the 2 we got for Fallen Kingdom They're really designed to be standalone sets for the kids who are transitioning from Duplo to LEGO

Question: Do kids really like that complete goofing around Lego media mostly portraits (And I assume from the trailer this does to)? The problem i see with the Gallimimus vehicle I still have is, that it doesn't know what it wants to be. Of course it has that mobile lab in the back. (That can't completely open by the way). But it is also equiped with a net launcher. And of course two drones. And it's large tires make it really big. And Owen being in every set is also really annoying as I cannot say often enough. On a side note, using the "Drone" as an actual drone makes it much less stupid xD Edited August 27, 2020 by mon-o-mat

On a side note, using the "Drone" as an actual drone makes it much less stupid xD Well said, I agree with almost every point. I also don't like how there's a 5th pteradon of the series in the set as well. Feels like a cheap throw-in. The research vehicle is first used by Vic Hoskins in the episode. The flying drone from Isla of Nublar ending is first and only used by Vic Hoskins. But instead Owen is the main figure of those sets. One of my favorite sets from the JW Lego series is 75931 Dilpo Outpost Attack because it has 3 Guards/ACU Minifigures. There's also a Pteradon 4+ set with a Helicopter and 2 ACU Minifigures. Those are fun sets that my son loves. But again I agree, they tried too hard with the research vehicle. My son gets so much play from the T-Rex Transport and the Blue Helicopters pursuit. I think we have like 8 Owens and 6 Clares. They left so much out of the show that they could have put in the sets. I'm going to wait and see how the movie and round of Dominion Lego sets go. I'm kind of hoping he gets into Star Wars or something because I don't have high hopes for future JW Lego Sets. They need to offer more sets at lower prices IMO. Blues Helicopter, Dilpo Outpost, Dr. Wus Lab, the 4+ sets, all around $20-$50 and they play the best from what I've seen. @MrActae don't know if you deleted your post(s) or got banned, but here's my 2 cents. I did check out the Dino Attack sets wiki page on the web. Looks really cool and fun. I know my son would love that helicopter, and huge gated dinosaur set. The thing you might not be in touch with us the Lego sets and Lego show combinations. All of my sons sets are Jurassic World, CITY, or Train sets. He loves watching the island of nublar TV series and any Lego City video on YouTube. Then he wants to play with them and do what they did in the show. Last, i think you could just take the JW dinosaurs and make custom sets for them similar to Dino Attack sets. As we discussed before here, they didnt give any effort of being able to combine JW sets into 1 big park or big play set. (Good example is Monkie Kid) those sets can attach together. I think they make more money from the JW branding than making more Dino Attacks sets. We prob won't see those again. Plus the Trex transport is a way better upgrade over that older triceratops transport.

Because I still think it makes the Helicopter look tail-heavy. since the Rotor has to be so far at the front (and there is clearly a space for a classical plate/brick with vertical pin for rotors a bit further back) so the axle can go through the body. Lion King Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 (edited) Ok folks! I just finished built Indominus vs Ankylosaurus set! I got this set for my birhday last month (July) and I finished building it today. Honestly, I really like this set out of other sets in this 2020’s JW sets! Here is my review on this: I never bought I-Rex set from 2015 but I heard some people complained about it being too white. Lucky for me, because I got the most accurate I-Rex figure from this year. And I have to say I really like this I-Rex’s new color (silver spots are really nice). And Club the Ankylosaurus (yes, I nicknamed the dinosaur, lol) is really really neat! It made me exited when I swung its tail around. I really like Ike the armored body. It’s Definitley giving me an impression. However, it is hollow from but I will gladly give it a pass. The build is pretty clever to have Gyrosphere path! I am super happy to see this set more playable along with falling trees and Club’s swinging tail. And I just a very small problem - Claire really needs to have printed legs like @Guyon2002 said in his post. I guess I will give it a pass for now. The price is kinda reasonable for this set because of new molds for Club and new arms and new colors for Snowball (I-Rex, yup I nicknamed it too, lol), maybe? And this set has about 550ish pieces to build a good-sized park ride. I can imagine using Galimimus), Triceratops, Pterandons, and T-Rex figures roaming around the gyro sphere station. Anyway, I am fine with the price. My rate for this? It’s 5/5! I highly recommend this to dino lovers and Lego fans! Edited September 1, 2020 by DBlegonerd7

No he doesn't. But he did find out that you can fit 2 seats in the front cockpit so he puts 2 characters in there which I think is really cool. I just like to factor in playability + cost and I think its one of the better sets. I bought a bunch of extra lego chain/rope pieces off brick link and he makes all these big transport cages and moves the dinosaurs around everywhere. I really think JW Lego sets would do better if they made more sets $40 and under. These $50-$60 sets are just blah to me.

I think it’s a cool place and that set is only based on Jurassic World film’s scene. Also, I agree with you on other $50 and up. Just like research vehicle with ridulously big tires.

First: how do you fit two seats into that cockpit when the axle is still there? Second: It seems very logical for me that those a bit more expenisve sets aren't worth it for you. In the end they most of them only contain a single dino, just like the smaller sets. And the builds don't offer more fun than the vehicles of the smaller sets. And I really dislike action features when they make the overall look clearly worse, while not offering much play value. And to be fair in my eyes most action features seem to be fun for like two minutes. Edited September 5, 2020 by mon-o-mat
