So long as it's in a set devoted to that IP. It would be really annoying to miss out on getting important Horizon characters in the Horizon sets because we instead get a character from a different IP - I'd be irritated if he turned up in a Horizon set before we get at least the likes of Rost/Sylens

Maybe a video-game heroes CMF could be a thing? (Or even limiting it to a single console?) That way they could pop out figs for a lot of desirable characters unlikely to get sets of their own

Trust me, I see where you're getting at, but most people nowadays are more familiar with Horizon over R&C, so having a Horizon Adventures CMF with Ratchet as a bonus could be justified

See I like Horizon and it's characters but I don't really think it's suited for a CMF seeing as the machines are a big focus. It'd be like doing a Jurassic park CMFs so no big Dino's or How to train your dragon CMF so no big Dragons.

Yeah, I'll have to agree on this one.

As much as I'd love a CMF series as a huge fan of the Horizon series, it's not a good idea. The minifigures don't have much draw and variety to regular LEGO fans or kids that aren't specifically fans of this series.

The sets focus on the machines, and there's a reason for this. The minifugures and the original character designs are incredible, but they aren't enough to support a whole CMF series.

I'm beginning to feel like I'm the only person who saw the machines as an added distraction in the game, and a necessity for gameplay purposes, rather than the main draw. I was much more invested in the characters and the post-Zero Dawn world

I don't think so. Actually, I'm sure most people are playing the video games for the lore, the characters, and the gameplay. The machines are amazing, sure, but they are more of a backdrop for everything that's happening.

But the thing is, when making LEGO sets or merchandise in general, the draw is completely different than what you're playing the game for. The machines have incredible designs, and they look amazing as collectibles—that's why people want to buy them.

Let me put it this way—people watch Jurassic World movies for the dinosaurs, but they don't play Horizon games for the machines. They are just a small element of an otherwise very complex, engaging experience.

When it comes to merchandise though, a machine is instantly more iconic, marketable, and full of possibilities by design.

Maybe that's where I'm standing out then. I'm honestly not super-fussed about the machines, it's the minifigures (and the potential for locations) that appeal to me. When I got my Tallneck set, I cracked it open straight away to get Aloy built. It's been nearly two years and I still haven't finished the Tallneck itself.

Fair enough.

I do hope they make even a small part of one of the villages as a set. Obviously they'd add a machine there, but I think it would be a super attractive set. I love the climate of each location and exploring it.

If we’re talking about location sets, something for the cauldrons could be fun. Dunno if they’d lean into the playset or display aspect more, but it would be cool if it came with the gate, the final chamber and perhaps one or two of the more recognisable platforming bits. Maybe include one of the smaller boss machines so they can recreate a version of the energy field/construction area.

Having some ruined buildings as a side-build is a must as well.

The bulwark could be a neat centrepiece for a Frozen Wilds inspired set, though that would depend on if a potential theme would cover elements not covered in Adventures.

I’d also really like to see Aloy in her shield-weaver armour, be it in its charged form from Zero Dawn or the powerless one from Forbidden West.

Please TLG, make the Klombo a minifig based set instead of another Peely Bone style one

…how exactly would a Klombo minifig-scale set work? If a set is named after a character, expect it to be a buildable figure.

I mean, lots of buildable figures or statues include minifigs, even if it's not in scale. The Sorting Hat and the micro Hogwarts Castles come to mind. At a $100 price point, I think Klombo could actually be roughly in scale to a minifigure, so that could increase its chances it gets a few. Based on the first wave, though, I don't think the chance it high - but I'm not going to rule it out jsut yet.

I mean, a Klombo is a large, dinosaur-like creature. It would probably work the same way any Ninjago dragon or similar works.

Oh, it is? I've seen images of it, but never in-game in context with anything else :laugh_hard: So I assumed it was a pet-sized creature! If it's that large, it could actually be a mini fig-scale set after all! That said, I'm not counting on that until we hear more details.

Recently built the Deku Tree, and absolutely loved it - I can't speak for the BotW build (that game doesn't really vibe with me) but the OoT model is so much fun with all its features, the door, the Skultula, the hidden elements in the sides of the tree - it's awesome

It's also HUGE. Wayyyy bigger than I expected it to be. It made me rethink some of my complaints about the pricing.

The OoT model does feel a little plain, but with the extra parts it was super easy to just make some sakura trees to fill out the forest a little.

And the figures! The Links are perfect, totally CMF quality - the Master Sword is probably the coolest new piece they've introduced in a long time.

I really hope it's sold well enough to justify the theme continuing, this set is an absolute dream, and having more stuff like Hyrule Castle (which I'm honestly surprised wasn't the first set?), the King of Red Lions, etc. would be awesome

I'm not surprised. I think I've brought this up earlier in the thread, but I don't think Hyrule Castle is an ideal pick for a LEGO set at all, for a few reasons. The main one is that it's not, in itself, an iconic structure. Not only does it look like a fairly generic medieval castle (unlike Princess Peach's castle, which has unique features like the red roofs and stained-glass window which make it instantly recognizable), but it's not even the same generic medieval castle from one game to the next! It gets redesigned for every game, to a degree that makes even something like a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 set unfeasible.

What it boils down to is that as important as Hyrule Castle is to the franchise, on a visual level it doesn't scream "Legend of Zelda." The Great Deku Tree, in any incarnation, arguably does (especially with the Master Sword pedestal out in front).

Yeah, I can agree with a lot of that!

I would say that I think the Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild castles are probably close enough to make a 2 in 1 possible, if that's a big concern of LEGO and Nintendo, but I also don't think it's the end of the world.

For another OoT/BotW 2 in 1 they probably also could've done the Temple of Time? It's SUPER similar across those games

Agreed about the Temple of Time--if you want an iconic building that has appeared in multiple games, that's the one to use!

I think part of the reason there has been such a struggle get any Legend of Zelda LEGO sets is that most of the pressure is coming from the AFOL side, but the most memorable aspects of the series aren't really things that AFOLs usually value. For all its history, LoZ is pretty light on really iconic, recognizable structures that you can enjoy having on display. The meat of the series is in the monsters and puzzles, which are things kids love to play with...but kids aren't, as a rule, the ones going "LEGO Zelda please?"

I might just be weird, but as a kid I wanted a Zelda theme SO badly - given the sales of BotW, I'd think (hope) that it's fair to assume that plenty of kids would have interest

Too bad LEGO Overwatch is off the table for a theme revisit forever.

I mean, I'd love Apex Legends sets as much as the next guy, but I'd only see it happening if it was an 18+ set of the Trident with all 8 of the original legends (Plus Octane and Wattson cuz I think they're cool)

I'm not too sure if they'd include guns, but if they make them similar to the guns they made for the Overwatch theme and made them all blocky with no details, they could get away with it

I'm sure there are plenty of kids who are interested, but it mostly seems to be something the grown-ups are after.
