Fortnite Battle Bus at $70-$80, like the Hidden Side bus: good idea, if late to the party

Fortnite Battle Bus at $250: bad idea, and still late to the party

Am I the only one who thinks is kinda too late for this?

The fornite popularity is not as high as it was 2/3years ago

I agree they're extremely late, but to be fair, a set takes allegedly 2 years to be made, so I reckon it checks out.

I also think it's an extremely hilarious choice, can't wait to have my Morbius minifigure jump out of the Fortnite bus (I've never actually played Fortnite)

-Fortnite is about as relevant now as Overwatch was when the 2019 sets released

-$250 is further out of the price range of the game's largest demographic than the $80 Sonic set is

-Not being minifigure-focused is the same flub that consistently lands Mario course builder sets on the clearance shelf

-Being a single large set like the Horizon Tallneck ruins any momentum a potential theme could've had and generally leaves fans disappointed

I'm sure this set will end up having a wonderful build and will certainly make a lot of Fortnite fans very happy (assuming it's real), but with all this in mind it's looking like it'll be just another example of Lego not learning from their mistakes.

LMAO, so it's actually happening?

That's hilarious. I have no idea why it's 250€. If it was 50€, it would've been a bestseller among children.

I have no idea why they are targeting a Fortnite bus for adult collectors :jollyroger:

I'm not surprised that Lego are making a Fortnite set given the Lego/Epic partnership that was announced earlier this year.

The price really doesn't fit the average age of the playerbase, surely something in the €80-100 range like the Tallneck would be much more popular? Small enough to be relatively affordable, big enough to be a good looking display piece.

The Tallneck was really a set that ticked all the boxes: fantastic build, good display piece and playability and a reasonable price/value. Couple that with a Horizon player base that is generally older than the average Fortnite player and it's no surprise it's sold out everywhere. Price wise several hundred dollars equals a lot of birthday and Christmas money that needs to be saved up. Keep it under $80 and it will be filling stockings around the world (and throw in an Emperor Palpatine figure for good measure )

Neither have I, is Morbius in fortnite? I know every other fictional character is.

This might be bias, because I am NOT fond of fortnite, but I can't see this doing well. Not as popular as it used to be, aimed at adults (who seem to be past it now) rather than kids, and one minifigure? I thought the appeal of fortnite was all the crazy characters, not the architectural marvel that is "bus with a balloon on top"

It's a BLUE bus with a balloon on top, liberal!

So according to JJP, the Fortnite set is not real. Hmmm, this makes some sense, Greekbricks has been a little on the suspicious side for a while...

Despite how inherently negative it is to specifically wish NOT for a set to come out given the several hundred that we get each year, I hope the Fortnite sets are not real. While still a huge deal, the Fortnite "craze" isn't as hot as it was even last year when Lego first partnered with Epic.

I have to say, when there were listings for a Lego "Gaming" theme in 2022, I was incredibly excited, but so far it's been one cancelled Overwatch set, a Horizon Zero Dawn set, and the Atari set I almost forgot about typing this. Almost nothing has come out of this, really. My intense, since-5-years-old desire for Lego to fully dive in to Video Game IPs continues to elude me. How is it that still only two characters on the Smash Bros Ultimate roster have minifigures? Shameful. Shameful and disdainful.

Sonic and who else?

It's nuts.

Semi-related, I tried to get a smash bros ideas set made back in may/june, but apparently it's not allowed because nintendo doesn't own every involved IP. I asked support if a set would work if it only contained first-party nintendo characters (No pokemon, for instance), and they kinda just left a non-answer. Might be that they didn't want to look into it...but it could mean something.

Smash Bros will always be something people ask for, but as a hardcore (VERY hardcore) fan, it's not something we can ever expect. Its characters are from a multitude of companies, including Nintendo-associated developers that are not actually Nintendo (HAL Laboratory for Kirby, Game Freak / TPC for Pokemon), but additionally, the game is actually developed by Bandai Namco and Sora Ltd.

But don't worry about getting official sets... there may be a good alternative coming soon.

CM4SCI seems to have shown an image of a minifigure scale Fortnite Battle Bus on his story from the Walmart app. I guess it is happening, just not in the way Greekbricks made it seem.

Pretty sure it’s a custom set

Is it April Fools? Why is CM4SCI punking everybody? There's also a message in his story about Lego removing a Fortnite-related Instagram post. :drunk:

What a surprise, it was just a ploy to advertise the MOC

It‘s admittedly a nice MOC (despite my utter indifference towards the game), but I don’t get the fake leak angle
