BrickBob Studpants Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Not sure about that “leak”, doesn’t look real to me and the subject matter is baffling. That’s one of the drawbacks to that survey leak: now people can stamp confidential watermarks over their creations and claim it’s from another survey like that The idea of forging prelims itself is not new, but the survey leak gives them more cover since those are A) unfinished too, B) harder to disprove by actual trusted leakers since they could be from a different year, and C) if the fake set never gets released, the “leakers” can just claim it was cancelled I think that leak opened Pandora’s box in a way Quote

What's the likelihood someone went out of their way to make a fairly accurate and detailed MOC of an object nobody would expect to be a set, then send it to a leaker? I'd be more sceptical if it was something that was already heavily desired by the community (like an Avengers Tower or large Star Wars set) but it seems so bizarre that anyone would do this thing in particular. This looks like a Lego set not aimed at primarily Lego fans, and that's why the subject matter might seem bizarre, but the recent BTS set shows that they're not afraid to push larger sets to specific markets. Spoiler I'm secretly really rooting for it, in the vain hope that it opens the door for real sets based on the universe of the game. Quote

Haha I did exactly that a few times when I was a kid. I learned how to use the old LDD to POV Ray rendering engine, blur it in gimp, add the watermark, then lower the quality and send it off to leakers on Reddit (back when that was allowed). League of Legends already has a comparatively small audience compared to the kinds of licenses Lego usually goes for, and fans of the E-Sports aspect of the series are an even smaller segment. Not saying it's impossible, but I think the more likely scenario is that someone had a fun weekend in stud.io and photoshop then decided to try their hand as a "leaker". Quote

PsychoBuilder Posted March 4, 2023 Posted March 4, 2023 So, potentially good news for those of us who want OW to return and to be able to buy stuff from Blizzard without supporting scumbags, the Microsoft buyout is looking a little more likely again. Apparently it seems to be going through in the EU, which I suppose makes it a little more possible that it'll go through in America as well. Quote

I could see Lego dropping it even after Microsoft has acquired Activision-Blizzard since there's just so much bad press around them. It also doesn't help that the sets never seemed like they were incredibly popular either, though that's just anecdotal so I could be mistaken there. The game (and theme) clearly has some fans though and did make for some cool sets, so I wouldn't mind seeing it return (preferably once the merger is done). Quote

The sets were kind of <insert that tiresome argument>, which was a little odd since I cannot imagine a lot of 6-8 year olds being too interested in the property, and the fact is, the game is just less popular now. I think that if the PVE is good, it could potentially revitalize the game, and it certainly still has a pretty big playerbase, but it may not have the same reach it used to. Quote

I think the biggest thing that might keep it from returning is just that Lego has a lot more options now when it comes to video game themes. There are only so many designers to go around and so much shelf space to be filled, so it may end up being that Lego drops Overwatch because they believe other video game themes will perform better. With Minecraft, Sonic, Mario, and potentially a number of other Nintendo series they may not be wrong either; Overwatch is still popular, but I don't know that it appeals to kids as much as any of those other themes do. Yeah, I think you may be right here, I hadn’t considered that but that seems like it could be possible. I’d personally love to see a more diorama or +18 take on the theme, I can’t imagine that happening. In fact, I feel like best case scenario is that they just put out the last couple sets and kill the theme off for good, and there’s a lot that would have to happen to even get to that. Quote
Alegrispa Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 (edited) Sorry if this has already been talked about, but I looked at the Deku Tree set again, and you can clearly see the fern piece from Rivendell in both pictures! I may be mistaken, but I think it's even there in bright green! Idk if this means anything, I just really want them to release this that set. I reckon if they release it any time soon we'll hear about it around May? Man, I just really want it. EDIT: Yup, I just checked and it's already been talked about. I guess I'm getting a little stir crazy waiting for Tears of the Kingdom. Edited March 12, 2023 by Alegrispa Quote

I would love to see a Zelda set made, as much as I haven't played a ton of the games. Quote

It seems like a very odd decision not to release the set the year that Tears of the Kingdom comes out, given that it's all but guaranteed to be one of the biggest (if not the biggest) game of the year as far as sales and hype go. Then again, it's not like it matters too much; Zelda is one of the biggest game franchises in the world and tie-in products will always be in demand whether or not a new game just came out. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 (edited) I'm still going expect it this year, leakers aren't omniscient they just find out stuff before they are supposed to and sometimes they share that information. Like with the Disney sets, this year would just make a lot more sense. Edited March 12, 2023 by Agent Kallus Quote

Never underestimate Lego’s poor planning! It’s very possible they wanted to release it as a tie in and just weren’t able to get it on shelves in time (I’d be willing to bet this is why the Tallneck release six months after the Horizon sequel). I wouldn't be surprised if it was supposed to release with TotK and got delayed for one reason or another, but it'd be kinda funny if that were the case since the game itself was planned got release last year before getting delayed. Portal Out Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Looks like that rumored Pac-Man set is actually an arcade machine! With 2651 pieces, I’m super excited to see what kind of functionality they’re able to pull off. Fingers crossed we’re not gonna have to deal with giant stickers for the sides though 🤞 Quote

Classic_Spaceman Posted March 20, 2023 Posted March 20, 2023 Screenshots and information about a game called "LEGO 2K Drive" have appeared. From Reddit: "LEGO 2K Drive PVP multiplayer gameplay is a "Mario Kart like" spin on the classic LEGO racing games we all know and love. There are many levels to choose from ranging from 2 to 5 minute races, and include lap races and sprint races, with multiple terrain and vehicle types such as on-road, off-road and water, with the vehicle changing automatically while driving. Items/Powerups include: Jumping, Mines, Teleport, Ghost, Homing Missiles, EMP, Food Blaster, Web Crasher and Brick Wheels. You can also create custom vehicles as in other LEGO racing games." Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 The official announcement and trailer for LEGO 2K Drive will be on March 23rd (per Twitter). Quote
kevkipo Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 The closer we get to May, the more anxious I get about the Zelda set. I'm starting to feel that it will not release this year. No leakers have said anything about it yet Quote

To be fair though, it could absolutely still come out in 2023 somewhere later down the line. TotK will be Nintendo's big game for the rest of the year once it's out so it isn't as though the Lego set wouldn't be relevant in November. Quote

If it's a summer release then we could start hearing about it from leakers as late as Juli. Quote

It's technically not a Direct and only ten minutes long, so I don't expect it'll show up there. TotK comes out in six weeks and we've hardly seen anything from it, so I don't think they'd spend some of that ten minutes showing off merch (for the older games too). That said, this is Nintendo we're talking about so anything is possible. Quote
