It would be interesting to see that revived; I think it would suit the Master Sword very well. They had several in the past, one of the more recent/common being Royal Blue (which was used in Knights' Kingdom II). That said, none of them saw all that much use and all of them are retired. I'm fairly sure the sword in this set just uses Medium Lilac/Dark Purple.
May 29, 2024May 29 "The Deku Tree was the first element from The Legend of Zelda we wanted to represent using LEGO bricks." - Eiji Aonuma, Producer of the Legend of Zelda series in the press release for the set. Hopefully that means there will be upcoming additional elements from more Zelda stuff! That and it having it's own section on lego.com means there's a chance... Slim, but I'll take it for now!
May 29, 2024May 29 If it's going to be an actual multi-set theme, should it get its own thread? Should we wait until further sets are confirmed? Am I just looking for more places to geek out about Zelda and LEGO joining forces?
May 29, 2024May 29 I think a Lego Legend of Zelda thread would be a good call, even if there aren't more sets (and I think there will be, eventually) we can still discuss this set there and not overwhelm discussion of other rumors/games in this topic.

Only Zelda looks weird to me, I think she'll look better in person but it's probably the lack of outlines on her torso. I suspect the reason is that LotR also has the brickheadz, but I agree that it means we're getting more and hopefully soon. Another thing to look out for is if Transformers gets its own page when Bumblebee is revealed, but if not, I do think it's likely we'll get some general retail TLoZ products. Hopefully not brickheadz though. I meant in terms of branding in the box, the lego.com sub divisions are overlapping. LotR (new not old) has 3 sets ( as Brickheadz is it's own theme) but not it's own branding but Zelda has only one set so far and it's own branding. Combined with things from interviews and such it makes me optimistic about the future of this collaboration. Though talking about Brickheadz I think a Zelda and Link 2 pack is a likely thing for next year?
May 30, 2024May 30 On non-Zelda stuff, play station are doing a 'nintendo direct but not' later today ( Thursday) I think we might see the fabled Lego Horizon Zero Dawn game

I thought you meant either Brickset's theme list or the lego.com pages, not the box itself. That's an even stronger point then, we have to get something else soon, right?
May 30, 2024May 30 I don't think there's quite enough evidence to get a dedicated Zelda thread yet. I mean, now that we have set photos, there's probably not much more to say about the Deku Tree until we get reviews/people get it in-hand, which won't be for another couple of months. If we ever get wind of any more Zelda, though - Let's do it!
May 30, 2024May 30 Just found out, that LEGO was used to make concepts for a very old video game , Populous, released back in 1989. Later , they even added brickland as a tileset for the expansion version. Not Zelda, but still 80s video game LEGO related. Edited May 30, 2024May 30 by TeriXeri
May 30, 2024May 30 I think we should crate a new thread for GENERAl Nintendo such as Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, etc…?
May 30, 2024May 30 Mario and Animal Crossing have their own threads already. Unless there are starting to be rumors of more...?

Oh, Lego has a long history of being used for video game development/prototyping. Hideo Kojima (creator/director of many of the Metal Gear games) used Lego to prototype some of the spaces for the first 3D game in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid. And he continues to be a Lego fan to this day, recently posting pics of one of the UCS Lego Star Wars sets he purchased. Edited May 30, 2024May 30 by Lyichir

I'll be commuting home from work at that time but I don't intend to watch the whole thing anyway, just see what interesting headlines come out of it.
May 30, 2024May 30 The pre-order link appears to be gone for me on lego.com. Is that typical for preorders? Or some glitch on my end?

I just checked, and I no longer see a button to pre-order either (on the USA site, at least). The button sometimes will go away a little bit before the set releases for general sale, but not after one day of preorders... My guess is it's a bug of some kind, and it will be back up at some point - unless they've sold out of preorders, which I doubt would have happened for a general release set in just one day.
May 30, 2024May 30 Quote unless they've sold out of preorders, which I doubt would have happened for a general release set in just one day. Especially at a $300 price point. But who knows?

May 31, 2024May 31 Is this legend of Zelda set going to be excelusive to Lego stores only? Or avaaible in Target or Walmart?
June 3, 2024Jun 3 In case anyone didn't see it, BrickFanatics is reporting that Lego is indeed sold out of preorders for the Zelda set and you will have to wait until September.

Wow! If LEGO / Nintendo doesn't make a theme after this type of hype / frenzy, both companies are equally stupid / blind. Then again, it should have been a hint when the third Zelda IDEAS project reached 10,000 votes... not to mention the other five that never got made after that! Edited June 3, 2024Jun 3 by Murdoch17
June 3, 2024Jun 3 I should specify that the article just says it is only the US out of pre-orders. Article below, as I didn't link in my original post: https://www.brickfanatics.com/us-lego-zelda-fans-sell-out-deku-pre-orders
June 3, 2024Jun 3 Wait that's actually crazy! Either they didn't anticipate this or THAT many people just bought the set? I'm personally holding out for a set that's easier on the wallet, but if that's gonna be a ways away I might bricklink Link and Zelda, so cool to finally have this after all these years...
June 4, 2024Jun 4 Is there a lot of demand for Mario in minifigure form? I always felt the digi-figures were pretty gimmicky but they did kind of give the crossover a reason to exist--they made the theme LEGO Mario and not just LEGO that looks like Mario. Not that "LEGO that looks like <choice of IP>" is a bad thing in itself...but LEGO has its strengths and I think licensed themes work better when they manage to play to those strengths along with the strengths of the licensed IP. That's why I'm really hoping we get more Zelda...dungeon sets with Technic functions to create puzzles, etc.
