Retails for 45€, with 768 pieces. Coming March 2025. That's... An unusually good PPP, especially when it has two minifigs and at least one new mold? Still, I'll take it. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 It's ridiculously good, and I have no idea how this coexists with Marvel sets that have 230 pieces for 50€, but here we are! Can't wait to see the set. Didn't expect it releasing so soon. Quote
Alexandrina Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Yes! Varl! Hopefully this is just a taste of what's to come. At the very least we need Sylens and Erend figures (and Blameless Marad because he has the coolest name in all fiction). I wouldn't be opposed to a Petra figure too but that might be getting a little too into the weeds for Lego themes not called Star Wars Quote
Coryo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Does anyone in Australia know if the Fortnite sets are exclusive to the Lego store or will they show up in stores like Big W or Kmart in a couple of months? Quote

As awesome as the in-game spear is I'm not sure how likely it is to also be in the set. In the BTS video you can glimpse a spear to Aloy's right and aside from an added reddish brown 1x1 it looks pretty much the same as both Aloy's spear in the Tallneck set and Varl's spear in-game sans the new mold. It's certainly possible that this is just an alternate accessory for Aloy herself but in the way it's angled it looks like it's being held by a minifigure. It could also be Varl holding both Aloy's and his own spear but just to be safe and avoid disapointment I wouldn't count on it. Quote
JohnTPT17 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 (edited) Images are now out for the Horizon set. No new spear piece, but Varl's hair is new, and it looks like he also has a new cape. 7 hours ago, Coryo said: Does anyone in Australia know if the Fortnite sets are exclusive to the Lego store or will they show up in stores like Big W or Kmart in a couple of months? BrickBob Studpants Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Now I wonder if there‘ll be more Horizon sets later in the year! There are no rumours yet, right? Also funny to have two gaming themes now that have sets specifically based on the LEGO version of the game! Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 This is quite possibly one of the best sets I've ever seen. Absolutely flawless. The machines look incredible. The sidebuilds are a fantastic addition. The minifigures are detailed, while also having new moulds and arm printing. The price is unbelievably good. And the best thing? They are making this a theme, which means more sets are coming down the line. Depending on how many sets we'll get later on, this might be the first theme where I need to get every single set. Quote
Rumble Strike Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I just started playing Horizon Zero Dawn a month or two ago, loving it! I had to pick up the Tallneck set on eBay. I am really excited for more Horizon sets, the robot dinosaurs are excellent. Quote
Nearlyheadlessbrick Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Wow, this looks fantastic! The machines are incredible, and do a great job of representing the in-game designs despite being simpler in construction. I also love how you can take out certain components just like in the game. The minifigs are also great. I don’t see why Aloy needed new prints, but it’s nothing to complain about. Varl is great, and his new hairpiece is cool. The new bow mold is very cool, and I love the interchangeable parts for it and the spear. The side builds are also fun references to the game, with the tall grass for sneaking about and the campfire for saving your game and fast travel. Overall an incredible set, and it’s designed as a sort of perfect starter pack based on the game. I’ll absolutely be picking it up, especially for that price. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 This looks absolutely great, I'll display these with the tallneck. And the price is pretty decent for 2025! Quote
FinlayTheFaithful Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 On the topic of Horizon Adventures is getting a set, maybe we are one step closer to a Lego Ratchet figure on account of him being a costume in that game Quote

ToaDraco Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Excellent set, great figures and a great price? Impossible! I'm very excited for this set. It'll look great next to the Tallneck on my shelf. I really like the aesthetic of the Horizon games. They give me strong Bionicle 2001-2003 vibes and it helps fill that Kanohi-shaped hole in my heart. Hopefully we'll get more sets based on the games. There are plenty of cool animal mechs we could get and I'd really love to get a special mold of the spear, though if we were going to get one, it probably would have been included in this set. Quote
Agent Kallus Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Look which pair of machines I ran into playing HZD today. HZD Screenshot by Bismuth83, on Flickr Okay technically, that's a Ravenger not a Saw-tooth but the two are very similar, Aloy even mentions it in game "That thing looks like a Sawtooth, but heavily armed. Great." So I say close enough. 6 hours ago, THELEGOBATMAN said: Pretty decent? 45€ for 768 is absolutely insane, one of the best prices for a licensed set in the history of LEGO. Mandalorianknight Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I've never played Horizon and don't feel particularly inclined to, but man, this set not only looks great but has an INSANE PPP and overall value for a licensed set. 11 hours ago, FinlayTheFaithful said: On the topic of Horizon Adventures is getting a set, maybe we are one step closer to a Lego Ratchet figure on account of him being a costume in that game If we got a Ratchet minifigure before Optimus/Megatron/Bumblebee/the Waves/Starscream/etc, I'd be extremely confused. (I know, I know, you're referring to the Ratchet of Clank fame) Quote
MaximillianRebo Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Very happy we're getting more Horizon sets. The designs of the machine animals are perfect for realizing in Lego; fingers crossed there are many more to come (although I already have a Sawtooth moc that I'm pretty happy with - looking forward to placing it next to the official model). The price as mentioned sounds excellent, much better than other licensed IPs. The Tallneck had a great price too - $90 usd for around 1200 pieces. I wonder if Aloy will become the new Mando - a rare and highly sought after fig when first released that ends up appearing in just about every set related to the franchise Quote

Also since Brickset has posted the images I think it's safe to post them here too as it was retailer that revealed them not a leaker https://brickset.com/article/115891/77037-aloy-varl-vs-shell-walker-sawtooth-revealed! Varl is the Lego games player 2 (which makes sense) but I would have preferred Sylens or Rost as out first non-Aloy character. I wonder if Lego Zelda will follow the same direction as Horizon: 18+ set, then a game on both PS and Nintendo and then regular system set(or hopefully sets plural) based on the lego game? Probably not but it would be interesting ( Though I doubt Zelda sets would be a nicely priced, given the comparison between the Tallnecks and PPP and the Deku tree's) I wonder if this is but part of a whole wave. Not sure if I misreading what you mean here, but there is absolutely zero chance of Nintendo allowing any kind of game based on their IP to release on a console that isn't made by them. The Minecraft Mario skin pack is only available on Nintendo platforms (and can't be used in cross-platform multiplayer), and they wouldn't even let Samus appear in Fortnite because it'd mean that you'd be able to play as Samus on a non-Nintendo console. I'm not sure Nintendo would even be interested in a Lego game, but if it happens it (unfortunately) will not be available on any non-Nintendo platforms. On the subject of Horizon, I think the new set looks quite cool. I bounced off the game when I tried it so the sets have never been super interesting to me, but I still think they're pretty cool and I am glad fans seem to be happy with them. Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 (edited) That Horizon set looks really good! I am not familiar with the property, but in addition to an excellent PPP and well-printed Minifigs, the machines seem pretty accurate (and I like the parts usage for them!). That said, is anyone disappointed by Varl? From the images that I have found of him, the majority of his legs are covered by either dark brown boots or a dark brown coat, so the olive green is really just a sliver down the front and across the middle of the legs (between the coat and boots); also, most of his arms are covered by olive green cloth (with blue and white bands and armour over top), with the only exposed skin being at his shoulders. Dark brown legs with olive green printing would have been better, as would olive green arms with the existing print (and a bit of medium brown on the shoulders); also, he really needed the fur collar piece (especially since he does not get any moulded armour!), as without it, his silhouette feels off. Lyichir Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 The Horizon set looks good. I think a similarly sized set would work well for a Breath of the Wild follow-up set (like a Guardian vs. Link on horseback). Quote

It would be really annoying to miss out on getting important Horizon characters in the Horizon sets because we instead get a character from a different IP - I'd be irritated if he turned up in a Horizon set before we get at least the likes of Rost/Sylens Maybe a video-game heroes CMF could be a thing? (Or even limiting it to a single console?) That way they could pop out figs for a lot of desirable characters unlikely to get sets of their own Quote
Kaijumeister Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Wow, that Horizon set looks stunning! I played a bit of Zero Dawn a few years ago but maybe I should revisit the game. Always love it when we get a well priced licensed set with new moulds, great builds, and beautiful package art. Really cool to see they made a specialised mould for Aloy’s bow this time round. @Lyichir I already own the Great Deku Tree but some non-18+ sets based on Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom would make me so happy.
