jedisquidward Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 Horizon Zero Dawn's set is proof that more of my Lego dreams are coming true. There was an idea I dreaded that the "Lego Gaming" theme would simply be Lego-themed game controllers or a new way to catalogue their video games, but cooler heads have thankfully prevailed. I think Overwatch as a Lego theme is a living embodiment of how Lego has shifted from everything needing a full "theme" to relying more on IPs with one large set. I would be surprised if there are many more Overwatch sets after this, but this is definitely a launching point for more gaming themes in general. Horizon Zero Dawn is not exactly "obscure", but it certainly isn't the biggest franchise in gaming. The fact that it ISN'T the biggest thing in the world gives me a lot of hope that some stuff isn't completely out of the question. In fact, I have a few predictions / hopes that I think are good possibilities, given that I think most of the franchises will be a bit more "realistic" (as in stuff with a focus on large vehicles / structures and more normal character designs, aka probably not Kirby / Pokemon / etc) Final Fantasy - Likely VII; I don't remember the age ratings for these but they're definitely not TOO crazy inappropriate and it's in the same ballpark of Sci-Fi type design as Horizon Zero Dawn. It appeals to the same demographic, and it's definitely a lot larger. Mega Man - This was reportedly going to be a Dimensions pack before it was cancelled. Family friendly, a large franchise, current with kids today thanks to a new TV show and apparently Netflix movie, with a large focus on big machines and most characters having a similar body type makes this an ideal fit. I can already imagine Mega Man 2's Wily Castle, which you can turn around to see lots of rooms and traps on the inside. Personally I like this idea a lot more than having thin 2D spaces like the Sonic set and lots of Ideas projects. Metal Gear - My personal dream, though definitely less likely. I argue that the series' anti-nuclear, pacifist themes make this less of a crazy idea than one would think. An Ultra Agents set had a deliberate Metal Gear reference, and series creator Hideo Kojima had his Twitter icon of him as a minifi gure officially made by the people behind The Lego Movie. Ideas lists Metal Gear as "Too Mature" as a franchise, but that system is generally a mess and is wrought with strange choices. Death Stranding - A smaller game like Horizon Zero Dawn, also made by Kojima and using the same engine. The two development teams are pretty close, both being in-house Sony developers. A lot of PlayStation-exclusive franchises fit the mold here. Zelda - At some point, it is inevitable. Quote
Mr No Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I actually think Lego will release all the 6 Overwatch sets that were supposed to release a long time ago with this theme, they wouldn't do overwatch again if it didn't sell. Quote
Mr No Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 I was thinking of another license that could happen and I would love it... Lego Destroy all humans sets. Quote
Natant16 Posted December 26, 2021 Posted December 26, 2021 League of Legends could have some pretty cool minifig designs, but I'm not sure what sets you could get out of it. A CMF series, perhaps? Ratchet and Clank would also be fun. Quote

Mr No Posted December 27, 2021 Posted December 27, 2021 (edited) Exabrickslegogo said long ago on instagram that the gaming theme could see 11 sets, the list made on what we know is 12, so perhaps it is 12 sets. 76978 Overwatch 2 Orisa & Efi 76979 Overwatch 2 Battle for Rio 76980 Overwatch 2 Null Sector Omnic Titan 76981 Overwatch 2 Talon Dropship 76982 Overwatch 2 set 76983 Overwatch 2 set 76984 Unknown 76985 Unknown 76986 Unknown 76987 Unknown 76988 Unknown 76989 Horizon Zero Dawn Tallneck According to https://www.brickmerge.de/?find=overwatch set numbers 76982 and 76983 are also Overwatch sets, this would make it to 6 Overwatch sets. Keep in mind the Overwatch list is old, so maybe some got replaced by other sets and might not come out like they were intended, but who knows. Edited December 27, 2021 by Mr No Quote
Nearlyheadlessbrick Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I would love it (in contrast to my wallet) if sets 76985-76988 were also Horizon Zero Dawn sets with various machines and maybe some small structures. Quote
Mr No Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 (edited) I actually wish we get a few other viseogames properties, who knows if those overwatch sets having been replaced by other sets for this theme. Edited December 29, 2021 by Mr No Quote

Metal Gear would also be my personal dream Lego IP (I’ve got a Metal Gear Rex MOC sitting on my shelf as I write this). Kojima even used Lego to model out the levels for MGS 1 and 2 and there’s a ton of vehicles and scenes that would make cool 18+ display sets. The only thing is that Metal Gear definitely falls under the umbrella of modern military stuff, which seems to be one of the only lines Lego won’t cross these days. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 Funny that the Italian catalogue seems to be the only one thus far to advertise it I wonder why this is the only set scheduled for February Quote

Mr No Posted January 5, 2022 Posted January 5, 2022 Do you guys think the Titan set will feature other sets on the instructions? or we might get our first look at them before that. Quote

It’s arguably the biggest scandal in videogame history 3 hours ago, Moon_Knight said: With all the allegations Activision has received, I'm surprised Lego is even releasing the Titan set and would be extremely surprised if we get more. I’m no expert, but releasing a set and people boycotting is probably preferable to breaking a contract Quote

We discuss Lego here, if the sets sell then they should continue making them,if they don't then cancel them. I don't see Lego fans boycot Harry Potter because of JKR either, and that's worse because it's a big IP. Also, it's not like Disney didn't do things like this. Quote
