Balrogofmorgoth Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 So begins the slow drip of information. At least it’s something. I’m hoping there are more than just four sets and an advent calendar though Here’s some speculation about what these sets are: $20 The Horcrux Cave $30 Ministry Battle $70 The Burrow $100 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower Obviously these are only guesses and not in any way confirmation of anything solid (I feel like I have to say that for some people).

RandomSniper109 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 I’m going to post a list from the old 2020 chat (that was closed for no logical reason), it’s my hopes for the minifigs that would come in the cmf, same numbers as the 1st one (I made this in April last year so most of them have probably been said) Harry Potter figures ⁃ Parvati ⁃ Padma ⁃ Cedric in quidditch robes ⁃ Cho in quidditch robes ⁃ Neville with mimbulous mimbletonia ⁃ Lockhart with a Cornish pixie ⁃ Dudley with pig tail ⁃ Vernon ⁃ Petunia ⁃ Myrtle with toilet seat ⁃ Fleur in beaxbaton uniform ⁃ Draco with potter stinks badge and ferret ⁃ Tonks with pink, tan and magenta hair pieces ⁃ Hermione as a cat ⁃ Ron as Crabbe (with two flasks) ⁃ Harry as Goyle (with cauldron) Fantastic beasts ⁃ Theseus Scamander ⁃ Young newt in hufflepuff robes with bowtruckel ⁃ Leta lestrange ⁃ Nicolas flamel ⁃ Nagini with legs as the ninjago snake legs piece (transforming) ⁃ Young Dumbledore with card and floating hand maybe

A couple things to point out, however, are Fleur obviously already happened in the Carriage set so that leaves a slot open. And as cool as they would be, Cho and Cedric never appear in Quidditch robes in the movies and I don’t see them making two unique variants that are exclusive to the books

I know this idea probably comes from j2g's video, but I don't think they'll do it in Lego. And we basically already got Fleur in her uniform. Besides that it's a reasonable list. Fantastic Beast choices are exactly what I would expect from the series. 4 minutes ago, Balrogofmorgoth said: I’m honestly shocked we still haven’t gotten a BS list, which I’m kind of bummed about, they’re usually very entertaining. The Hufflepuff quidditch uniforms do appear in the movie, you just never get a good look at them. That said, the designs for the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw uniforms have existed in supplemental media for ages, and I think we’d all love to get some sort of quidditch battle pack with a couple of players from each of those two teams. It seems unfair that the Quidditch Match set from 2018 has what you need to put Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff on the scoreboard but no players to play those games :/

With Cedric in the CMF and Harry in the Graveyard I really don't see them returning to the Third Task anytime soon. And if they do make the Second Task they probably won't include Fleur as she and Cedric are probably the least important characters in such a set. The Fleur variant I want most is Second Task, possibly with a Baby Groot-like Grindylow

Even though we've gotten her sister, but really that's maybe just some generosity on Lego's behalf. Besides she would work with just Harry for obvious reasons.

I think the best way to do it would be to include Third Task Fleur and Krum in the CMF since they wouldn’t likely appear in a set. And then eventually there should be a second task set since we don’t have any of those variants

At least with the ST they could include something like a Grindylow, which is mostly linked to Fleur because they're the reason she failed that task. Unless they give them some random non-TT accesories ofcourse
Accio Lego Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 I can’t help but worry that the people speculating about Drumstrang ship/Second task sets and Champion variant CMFs are setting themselves up for disappointment the same way that people talking about Chamber of Secrets and Lockhart defense classroom sets were last year. It might happen eventually but I wouldn’t count on it this year.

I know all of them at once is very unlikely but a few might happen. I think characters like Karkaroff and Rita Skeeter are likely Edited January 29, 2020 by Balrogofmorgoth

The later movies (5-8) have been largely ignored during the many iterations and waves of LEGO Harry Potter

It’ll be the first time we get proper waves of sets from movies 5-8
RandomSniper109 Posted January 29, 2020 Posted January 29, 2020 the main reason I want more goblet of fire minifigs in the cmf is just for a Potter stinks badge, I don’t know why but I am overly desperate for one

Still would be nice of course. 53 minutes ago, Accio Lego said: I can’t help but worry that the people speculating about Drumstrang ship/Second task sets and Champion variant CMFs are setting themselves up for disappointment the same way that people talking about Chamber of Secrets and Lockhart defense classroom sets were last year. Well, because of Rita we learned about Albus and Gellert's story, so I would say she is important (it would be cool to get a Godric's hollow set with Bathilda Bagshot), and as far as I've seen she is one of the most requested characters, if we got Dean, which isn't very important, why not Rita?

Aesthetic value matters as well. Rita has a distinct color scheme and look that would translate well to a memorable minifigure, and while of course that doesn't cinch a spot for her, it does help with the odds. Also, CMF provides the avenue for them to push out figures that won't appear in actual sets, and since she wouldn't really be a must-include for any set, I do think LEGO would see CMF as a likely path for her. If you look at it that way literally every single background/sidecharacter is important because he/she does something. LEGO doesn't care about who does what in the books, they look at a character's relevancy in the movies and wether or not one of their costumes fits the CMF well enough and will sell well to their primary audience: children
Balrogofmorgoth Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I also think we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment if we think that only extremely important characters will be in the CMF series. That wasn’t the case the first time and it likely won’t be this time. I’m actually perfectly fine with that because it means we could get minor characters that wouldn’t appear in sets. I think someone like Rita Skeeter would be a prime candidate honestly. There will probably be some “filler” minifigures that people generally may not be shouting for joy over, but over time that’s how we get so much variety
Lionbear8 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I'm really hoping for 2 x sets that can connect to Hogwarts. That would then give us 5 connections and 1 great display!
Huigberts Builds Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I was just thinking about how we haven't gotten a proper Gryffindor Common room since set 4722. It included a chair, table, bedroom, printed cardboard fireplace and most importantly the portrait of the fat lady. Which we really haven't gotten since the yellow faced times (not including the damaged version without her from 2004). After that we've only gotten a few fireplaces and now with the new wave 2 beds that could only fit figures with small legs. I really hope we'll be getting a set which at least includes the fat lady portrait since no common room has felt like a real common room without it. Of course I want rooms for the other houses as well, but they wouldn't really require any new prints like that. Finnish it of with a fireplace and 1 or 2 armchairs and it will at least look somewhat like a complete common room next to the bedroom from the whomping willow set (even though some bigger beds would be nice.) 6 hours ago, MysteriousSir said: Relevance is only part of the motivation for making a figure, though. I know, but there are many more figures that have a distinct look but with a more important role. Think about Kingsley, Tonks, Percy, Bill, Lavender. Which are pretty likely to be sidelined in sets for other characters, since they mostly appeared in scenes with many characters on screen (since there's only a limited amount of figures in each set.) I have no doubt we'll see Rita eventually, especially since we've already gotten the one set in which her scene takes place, but I see her as more of a series 3 figure. Especially as the focus is now on order of the phoenix and half blood prince. Just now, Lionbear8 said: I'm really hoping for 2 x sets that can connect to Hogwarts. That would be nice, but I think Lego only gave us 2 hogwarts sets in wave 1 to show the connection feature and because the theme's future was uncertain. They'll probably go with a more diverse combination of sets with 1 big Hogwarts part for each year.
