I think a Hogwarts section that has figures based on Flashbacks would be great. Young Mauraders, Lily, Snape, and a spectating token Harry. Was that scene even in the HBP movie?

Well there was this one in ootp:

It looks great and the scale is spot on from what I can see, but wonder if the same is the case with the hare :shrug_oh_well:

Yeah I really want to see it next to a figure, he looks kinda big.

These books have lots of design experiments. I remember seeing the mold and printing of the buckbeak in one of these books before there was even a rumor on the set. There is a sticker of hermion's patronus in one of last year's books. Hedwig with open wings is another example.

Furthermore, it would not be surprised that the 2018 DA microset is a small-scale prototype for DA minifigurescale.

This is 100% accurate.

I also agree that the Diagon Alley GWP microset could offer a template for the D2C set, but I have a feeling the D2C set will be V shaped and include another street across from the one featured in the microset.

I also think it is possible that TLG may save WWW (or possibly Gringott’s) as a separate release to increase profitability, but we will have to wait and see.

The version of Buckbeak appearing in books was the old pre-reboot version, Hermione's patronus being on a page full of patronusses is hardly suprising and last time I checked birds needed to open their wings to allow themselves to fly.

These books aren't hinting at future stuff

If anyone's interested:

0:41 Buckbeak, owl

1:25 Hermione's patronus

1:33 Buckbeak again

But I still fail to believe these mean anything. As Guyon2002 said. It's no different to the Lego Ideas T-Rex Rampage controversy - Harry Potter is a licenced theme and there are bound to be some similarities, especially as these things are obvious things to include in the Harry Potter universe (especially Buckbeak). Just because there's Hogsmeade at 1:08 doesn't mean we're getting Hogsmeade - it's just because Hogsmeade is important in Harry Potter, and they thought they'd add the Winter Toy Shop Christmas Tree. But if we do get a Hogsmeade set, that doesn't mean it was hinted at in a 2018 sticker book - it just means that they drew on the same source material.

Furthermore, you can see all these are artwork, rather than renders of existing Lego sets (like there are scattered throughout the book). Because the people who made these books are... artists... and they drew what they thought a Lego buckbeak probably looks like in lego form. And unsurprisingly, it looks fairly similar to the actual Lego because they both had the same old Buckbeak to draw off of and it's pretty easy to predict what a Lego Buckbeak looks like.

No. Any similarities to upcoming figures or sets are just because they share the same source material.

The people working the books are not the same people designing the sets. They do not know what LEGO is planning to release.

Wrong.

The version of Buckbeak featured in that book (which predated the Hagrid’s Hut announcement) is the brand new version of Buckbeak, complete with new headmold and wings. There’s video of the book in this thread if you want to check.

What is so difficult to understand here?

These books are designed to sell more LEGO sets and generate excitement in new sets. Of course they are made with input from TLG’s marketing team. They are not generating significant income off $5 activity books.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this year’s Advent Calendar features nearly identical artwork as that Hogsmeade winter village scene.

The fact that they look similar because they are from the same source material...

But let's say you're right about Buckbeak and it's a hint. But the fact there's the owl with wings spread out and Hermione's debunks that more than proves your point - there's no way they'd hint about something like that almost 2 years in advance.

Let's just move back to current Lego Harry Potter leaks, there's nothing more to say here anyway...

Wrong. The Buckbeak in the book has a similar head to the 2019 figure- because they based it on the 2018 Thunderbird, just as LEGO did. The front legs and wings are very clearly taken directly from the 2004 design.

These books have existed for ages. By know we know how they work and we at least have an idea of how they're made. These books don't give us hints at what's to come, those are just accidental ''hints'' because these books and the sets are based off the same sourcematerial (as a lot of other people here have said).

Is it really that hard to just swallow your pride for a second and admit you're wrong?

So, um, how do you all feel about the new exciting angles of the otter...?

Wrong again. Take a closer look. New wings, new legs.

No need to get personal, guy. We’re just talking about little plastic toys here. Chill out.

And while you “may have an idea how they work”, I am explaining to you as someone with a business degree and a long history in print marketing and licensed publishing that these activity books are designed to sell more sets and generate excitement about new sets.

They are 100% made with the guidance and direction of TLG’s marketing department, which provides the artists with names and concept sketches of characters and sets that will be important from a sales perspective in the fiscal year to come.

@sebastian666 You can go ahead an believe whatever false information you want, nothing we can do about that.

However, if you should decide to instead educate yourself with some accurate information you can read this nice article as a primer on how they work with those books: New LEGO Star Wars Build Your Own Adventure book — exclusive first look and interview [Feature]

I attended an interview/talkshow with the very same Rod Gilles at Skærbæk Fan Weekend last year where he touched on some of the same subjects. He specifically mentioned coming with up his own ideas, eventually building them and having them go through model review, and after some years of working on these books he had a fair sense of what they wanted which made it a little easier. We are not making this stuff up as we go you know... Plenty of people on here sharing insight on some of the inner workings of LEGO, as long as you choose to listen.

It's actually really interesting learning about this coming from someone who's relatively new to this. I didn't even know Lego leaks existed until recently.

Thanks for the link. Great article. And it makes total sense that the Build Your Own Adventure books have a bit of a different process than the low-dollar activity books which are mainly illustration-based.

No need to tell me to chill out, I'm perfectly chill. But instead of continously going against everyone saying ''they're wrong and I'm right'' you might want to consider reading what @LegoFjotten had to say
