Someone’s posted pictures of what the D2C diagon alley could look like (in their eyes), made on LDD- it’s clearly still a work in progress. It’s on #legoleaks or @legocinematics

Eh that's not my cup of tea.

Wow, it's super cool. This would be the perfect approach, although perhaps a little larger to make it less cramped and allow the shops to be a bit bigger. I was instantly drawn to the cobblestones more than the shops lol, a pavement like that would be really cool. And I like the diagonal Gringotts.

There’s no point me trying to be mysterious lol, I made it but I’d love to hear your thoughts, this is how I’d like it to look personally!

Thanks! And yeah as large as it can be would certainly be ideal- also yeah the pavement is actually really important :))

haha very modest of you. (I deleted my IG comment as I don't want people here seeing a photter of me lol, I should probably set up an alt.) It's a fantastic MOC you've done - it's hard to do big MOCs imo so you've done a great job with lots of interesting techniques!

Thanks so much! And yeah I get you, I’m personally afraid of judgement for my love of Lego, and I have to have an alternative Lego account because I know people my age will judge me for heavily liking and collecting Lego lol, gotta keep my Lego addiction private and contained haha.

How many parts did you use?

Oop my bad! Been fixed now- At the moment it’s 4367 bricks- and I still haven’t done the roofs, second floor of QQS or completed gringotts, nor are there minifigures or accessories- so it’ll likely come to 6,000 in the end, which is almost definitely bigger than what we’ll get

Might want to remove the quote from your post too since it shows the original content.

I really like the MOC too. It's the sort of style I'd imagined as far as being a big connected street. I think that's really crucial for the official set to have.

Well it depends on how small the pieces are! The bigger a set is, the botter its value; Hogwarts had alot of tiny pieces yes but it also had a lot of BURPs and large wall/tower pieces. So I think 6000 is reasonable for a $400 set? I don't know though, maybe 5000 is a safer bet.

Is there anotter person whos most anticipated summer set is Privet Drive?

Maybe itll change, but for owl that's my most anticipated.

The amount of sets this year is staggering. Nearly $1000

I’m very excited about the privet drive set!

On a slightly different note - who do we think might be the designer for Diagon Alley? I'm hoping Wes Talbott, who did the Pop-Up Book, Bookshop, and a good chunk of the Elves theme, and who has said he'd like to do something for Harry Potter in the future.

I don't know many designers but it would be cool if it was Justin Ramsden or Mark Stafford, really like their sets

Good job, an upscaled GWP would definetely be the way to go imo

That‘s a very cool looking model, can‘t wait to see its finalised form :sweet: I definitely wouldn‘t mind if TLG approached it the way you did by basically upscaling the GWP set

And I know it‘s hard to have a hobby like that when you‘re a teenager from personal experience, but you should never feel ashamed of what you love! And once you‘re older, people usually get less judgmental again, it‘s just those awkward couple of years  I also always kept my passion a secret during my teenage years, but have since opened up about it

Edit: Ninja‘d on both accounts

It can be hard but I can tell from my own experience that it feels a lot better if you're open about it. I never tried to hide my passion for LEGO and don't see a reason why I would, as my favorite thing to do and my passion it's literally part of who I am. Just like you shouldn't feel ashamed of a big nose or weird ears you shouldn't be afraid to show your passion to people.

Sure, some people thought I was a weirdo but just being open about it and owning it earned me enough respect not to get bullied. I did get the occasional joke but just role with it, they can be quite funny.

Thank you all so much for the support and encouragement guys, it really means a lot and it really helps, I feel good now. You’re all great people, and whilst we may argue a lot about stuff it all comes from a collective love of Lego and in this case Harry Potter. I’m grateful to be a part of this thread :)

To be fair on the Expecto Patronum set, the trees were a really interesting build, just the set was small so it naturally feels a bit undharewhelming. I do agree that since this is a small set of the same value, it won't be the most interesting, especially as it's part of Hogwarts so will probably have just some wall. I'm hareping it'll connect but we really can't be sure. At least, since it's a small set, it will probably have an ironically large room (otherwise it just wouldn't make sense as the RoR, and they're not going to be able to put a wall between two rooms - so hopefully if it does connect it'll give us a decently sized space in Hogwarts, unlike the otter rooms (obviously excluding the Great Hall). I'd like a simple wall that's maybe 6x18ish studs, which I don't feel would take too many pieces for a set this price, and it could have some interesting decorations/artifacts too. Regardless, the patronus molds are gonna be really cool.

When it's revealed I'll probably be like "eh", then realise it'll cost £20 and if I wait I'll be able to get it for £15 or less and actually quite like it as a cute little build. This is kinda how I felt with Expecto Patronum - I'd like to make the lake a bit bigger and I think it'll look really cool. I'm seriously considering getting anotter Expecto Patronum for some more trees and could see myself doing the same with this Room of Requirement set.

It was fun to build, but I don't like the cheap look smaller sets often have. But I like the dementors and the patronus and want to collect all of the hp sets under this wave. I will rebuild the trees for a forbidden forest MOC in the future.

I hope that RoR looks good, otterwise I think that kind of set will give good pieces of my Hogwarts MOC.

Wow! This is really well done! Almost exactly how I imagined it after reviewing the Creator city sets last night. And I love how you’ve incorporated the brick walls at the beginning and end of the block to make it feel like a tight alley. With all this talk about who the official designer of this set is going to be, I’d be perfectly happy if it was you! Can’t wait to see the finished product (and any other Harey POtter mock-ups you are working on ). Keep up the great work.

Come on kingnono. Now would be a great time for another hint to discuss. One or two more should hold us over until the reveal. I’m not really counting on anymore minifig leaks at this point

*huh* that many, maybe we only get one side of the street after all  Sure a lot of your pieces can easily be removed, but the build is not finished either..

That is right, but with more minifigs there is less pieces

I wouldn't worry counting the sides of the street. It's not going to impact the number of buildings, just their arrangement. I'd imagine they'll be default be in one line but easily arrangeable into two lines on a street.

Good point abotter the minifigs, they do bring the value up. But there's a range of seemingly small factors that can make a big difference in the number of pieces; simply making the buildings 2 studs less deep results in {no. of bricks height x 2 (as there's 2 walls) x no. of buildings} fewer pieces.

But that could potentially also compromise the amount of detail in the buildings themselves

Yeah, I know, it was just an example really, that it's difficult to predict how many pieces there are per building and hence the number of buildings, even if the total part count could be roughly predicted. I wasn't clear, sorry :sweet:

My compliments to @Legoniche, I have to agree to everyone who already said that your design would be a phenomenal one to pick for the final product! I'm a big fan of setting buildings to baseplates in that Creator Expert modular style that @sebastian666 suggested as well. A big D2C which is that expensive feels like a much bigger value if everything is altogether instead of having several separate parts imo. I wouldn't mind as well if they were fully enclosed with each single floor to come off. But I guess that's not what we get for "just" (strong word in that context) $400.

We’re a month and a half away from release date, it’s basically nothing yet it feels like too long  Come on, LEGO!

I think the AT, forbidden forest and RoR will be day one purchase for me, as for privet drive I’m skeptical about just the thought of it, but we’ll see.
