You’re right, it would make a perfect Hogsmeade! Link to my setup last year - super proud of it! I know it’s off topic but thought it’d bring some cheer given the current world situation. Dammit! I was never bothered by City much but my favourite was the Construction. I still love the 7905 Building Crane That’s a brilliant Christmas display! Always loved those Christmas sets, they all feel so comforting and merry and just warm and happy despite their snowy setting, always wanted the Santa’s grotto and winter village train sets- which you could swap out the train for and put the hogwarts express in, using he station as hogsmeade station! Looks brilliant tho!

I’m a bit of a perfectionist though so always changing things. Studio is really good for a lot of things like parts lists and instructions, but there always has to be some element of free build with actual bricks! how do we know that the Burrow is likely to be a retail exclusive? The Dutch retailer brickshop.nl has listed it as coming out in June under 75980 for 100 euros. It is most likely a retail exclusive as we have not seen as much info on it apart from a couple minifigure leaks compared to other sets releasing at the same time.

It’s really well built and accurate- I could definitely see something like this in a large hogsmeade set with a couple extra buildings and some benches and lamps etc. keep up the good work!

It does make you appreciate it when you come back though. I find it funny that I don't think of it as a toy any more, rather a model to display. Sometimes I'm reminded that it is a toy (due to e.g. the Mario theme, which I'm glad didn't capture my interest like I might've hoped, as it means I can collect HP!) and I surprise myself lol You're absolutely right! As an adult, I focus on different things so it isn't really a toy any more. I see more of the collector's value and try to figure out how I can display them in a pleasing way. Using minifigures to set up scenes with some funny captures is quite fun as well.

And that's a really good idea with the Hogsmeade Station. This would also get me some use out of my Winter Village sets outside of Christmastime. I'll have to see what I have space to do!

A retail exclusive is a set that can only be bought at a specific store in the US. In the rest of the world most of these exclusives are available everywhere

I had the same problem when I first tried to upload pictures here, its not a picture hosting site so the upload limit is tiny. You need to host them somewhere else like flickr and then just paste in the link and the picture will come up here. Love you moc, well done. I created a Harry Potter moc page here for anyone who has made or altered their Hogwarts sets. Upload it there when you get the higher quality version uploaded on flickr.

UCS Star Wars sets, playscale Millennium Falcons (usually more than 1 if any), microscale Hogwarts, disney castle, large car sets, NASA sets, and of course the eternal modular buildings. All lovely sets but it gets a bit boring after awhile. I suppose it makes you appreciate more unique collections like this though. I totally agree. Although I am guilty of wanting to collect a lot of the Harry Potter sets and keep them as close to the instructions as possible, I find joy and creativity in setting the up together and placing minifigures in interesting places. I especially don't understand when I see people who have dozens or hundreds of minifigures standing static in a glass case - where is the joy in that? I made one general minifigure display that is a house where I can at least pose them all. For my Harry Potter CMF I tricked out one of those display frames to look like a flat Hogwarts. 3 hours ago, sammy_zammy said: Thank you! And yeah, I can see what you mean about "boring" collections, but of course anyone can collect what they enjoy. I think a big factor for me is whether you can create a scene with the minifigs, arguably my favourite part of having a Lego set. It makes it go from a dust-collector on a shelf to a diaroma. So UCS Star Wars you can't do that, and that's the thing that puts me off microscale Hogwarts, as awesome as it is - I haven't got space, and it would be cool by all means but not terribly interesting to display for me. I agree but I have found some joy in placing the microfigures in various places around Hogwarts. I only wish I had more microfigures so they could belong in multiple scenes. And of course, you can't really tell where many are since I have the front of the castle on display... but I know. And it has inspired me to build some microscale additions that weren't in the set, like Hogwarts Express, Fluffy, and a thestral.

I don't think keeping close to the instructions is boring - some people prefer making custom stuff, some people prefer offical stuff. I think it's definitely how you display it that's important. And yeah although I can understand why people want to have them displayed in a case in a line, I feel that's not what minifigures are for! Your HP CMF sounds really cool. I often set up minifigs on a Lego calendar I've got (when I remember to change the month). And yeah, the castle is definitely really cool, and I really like it, but I almost need a reason to not get it as ther's stuff I prefer. I think I was a bit harsh in my judgement of the microfigs and I really like how they can go much more to scale (i.e. the gigantic tower) with that scale, but I think the huge size of it and the fact it's not easy to integrate with the minifig-scale sets has made me choose one or the other. I like the sound of your microscale additions too!

But I do see the $400 thing happening, as it seems the best way to get a good representation of all of DA. Having said that, splitting it into two $200 sets over two years could work - but I don't think selling each building individually would, as we discussed a couple of pages back. I'm excited for the Forbidden Forest too. Although it's small, it sounds like otter'll make a really great scene with lots of creatures. But one diagon alley set for about 200 USD is ok for me, as it have gringotts. I think i'm not that into diagon alley. But i have time to think about it :) 11 hours ago, Guyon2002 said: I'm pretty sure there was never a rumored price other than 400 I have seen some posts on instagram and have read "from 200 USD", one of them was from the account prizyplasticproduct, but I don't know if the person is a legit leaker or not. Bugbot20082 Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) It’s not been said yet I think but my guess is that the accessory for Moaning Myrtle is the action-pose bar and a jumper plate so that she can be posed ‘floating’. But I would love an undamaged Diary as well. Also on the subject of skipping sets for the sake of my money/shelf space I decided to limit myself to just the castle sections, Hagrid’s Hut, and a few sets with desirable Minifigures such as the rise of Voldemort. But I have found myself giving in to temptation and picking up more of them 2nd hand and now I’m only missing the train, quidditch and the bus ? I plan to get all the sets this year eventually except the Dursley House Edited April 17, 2020 by Bugbot20082

It would definitely be cool if Myrtle came with the new posing piece, but given that the 18 cmf figures that have come with it already have also come with other accessories, I don’t think that will prevent us from getting an intact diary or something else - especially since Myrtle won’t automatically come with a wand like nearly all the other characters. Now that you mention it, I should see what kind of prices the posing pieces go for - it would be great to have some for Nearly Headless Nick and the Quidditch players, and even Peeves and the lake task set if I could get my hands on enough.

Hopefully she comes with the Diary too (maybe with one of Riddle's messages to Harry printed on the inside) as I really need more of the new Lego books, I really love that piece!

Crookshanks Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 I'm thinking to get a box with the cmf figs and keep mostly of them. I love many of theirs asscessor. Like the monsterbook, portion book, fawks. And it's good to have duplicates of some minifigs to display a moc later. I hope the other cmf figures will have some awesome accessoar to. I don't feel to stress to get all of the new sets diretcly, first I most get the sets i still miss. But the cmf serie I will get diretctly and if we get the rumored brickheadz.
sammy_zammy Posted April 17, 2020 Posted April 17, 2020 (edited) People posting their MOCs has inspired me to post the start of mine. It's ta modern equivalent of The Final Challenge from Philosopher's Stone; I had started with The Forbidden Corridor and then Devil's Snare, working down, but decided it's easier to work backwards and build up. Imgur link to photo It's a work in progress (very tan at the moment, I'll be sure to add in some different colours and textures for variety, especially as not all the pieces are available in tan and it looks kinda bland right now!) so I will make quite a few small alterations. I wanted to have black flames like the books (and then purple flames before the potion challenge that's cut from the films) but don't think the flame exists in that colour so had to settle with orange. It's got pins to context with the rest of the sections (Potion Riddle, Wizard's Chess, Winged Keys, Devil's Snare and Fluffy in the Forbidden Corridor - don't think I'll do the empty troll room!) The curves were a pain to get on the steps - I had to use a complicated SNOT technique to get the top steps to line up, and I'm pleased how it turned out but not sure how stable/legal it'd be in real life! I'd like to add pillars going round (they're very decorative in the movie) but don't want to hinder accessibility. Of course the Mirror of Erised is ripped straight out of the Great Hall set - which is awkwardly placed in there! Currently at 189 pieces. Think the whole thing's going to bigger than I expected! Edit: ooh looks like trans purple flames do exist - I was using 6126b instead of 6126! Edited April 18, 2020 by sammy_zammy
