2. As far as I know (I could be dead wrong, so take it with a grain of salt) a new mold means setting up another line of production (machine), which is super expensive, in case they don’t replace another mold. I will look this up, as I’m pretty much ignorant of this process.

The base they use to produce the molds in is really expensive, they don't buy new machines for every new piece they create. That would be really cost-inefficient

I finally found one from the scene with Slughorn and Aragog, but he wears like 3 layers  Dark grey jacket > striped shirt > red shirt. Haven’t found a still of him using the exact one from the CMF in HBP..

they swap the mold out in the machine when they need to produce something else. they do this a lot to like fill up their stock of various things.

That actually works really well. I just wish the piece had some printing like the Filch piece. I remember in 2018 someone said Slughorn looked more like the one from the flashbacks, which is kinda true. Especially with the unprinted hair in the AT.

I kind of agree. If they did use the more bald piece, I would definitely want a bit of printing. I think it might still look odd, as it might look a bit slicked down like Filch's did. Guess he's just a tricky character to Lego-afy. Same with Umbridge's hair in my opinion, I'm not sure it quite fits, or it could be the face printing.

Not a 2020 set, but I'm starting to worry that I've missed the couple of very short windows to get the 75954 Hogwarts Great Hall at a discount. I assume it's going to retire this year, and now suspect that a lot of sets are going to be out of stock much earlier than normal for retiring sets because of the weird distribution issues and surge in set buying thanks to covid-19. It's been out of stock everywhere in the US for at least 2-3 weeks now. I'm hoping maybe it's such a popular set, and that Lego considers it so integral to the line that they make sure it's around and in stock in a little longer. Thankfully the Great Hall is the only 2018 set I don't have yet. I'm in good shape on the 2019 sets, needing just Hagrid's Hut and the Clock Tower.

Anybody with an inside scoop on future restocks, retirement expectations, etc.? I assume all of the 2018 sets that haven't retired yet will in 2020? But will the Great Hall be restocked most places, or is it likely already done for? I'm worrying over nothing, probably, right?

The other sets I'm a little worried about are some Ideas sets and the Roller Coaster. I still need Assembly Square also, but I can't imagine that one being done already. Yes, I can't help it, I'm constantly behind a year! It usually works out ok though because I get many of my large sets on discount on May 4 and Black Friday! :)

I hope that the Astronomy tower and the Private drive set looks good and it's have a nice buildingsexperience and easy can inspire me for my MOCs. I'm really curios on the buildable Hedwig set. How it would look with the other hp lego.

I'm happy thats the minifigures we have seen, patronus and especially the centatures looks really good! My hope is that Graup will look ok.. I want to use him for a "Troll in the bathroom" moc..

We discussed this extensively last week so if you want to read the full discussion you should go back a few pages. Long story short the 2018 sets are most likely all going to retire in late 2020 with a possible exception for the Great Hall considering how important it is (not counting the D2C, which will obviously stick around a little longer).

its using the same torso as the normal set.

The only new thing about that figure is a SLIGHTY different face print.

Such a waste of a cmf.

Ah I see, thank you.

1. I don’t know, but many of the CMF’s printing looks cheaper in quality, I imagine the bricktober pack was made where the CMFs are usually made. By cheaper I don’t mean awful, but the prints are smudgier/thicker as opposed to set quality, where prints come out much finer (this is NOT in every case though)

2. As far as I know (I could be dead wrong, so take it with a grain of salt) a new mold means setting up another line of production (machine), which is super expensive, in case they don’t replace another mold. I will look this up, as I’m pretty much ignorant of this process.

1. I see, for some reason I assumed set minifigs were more cheaply made!

2. As said by

this sounds correct. I worked in a plastics factory over the summer and they changed the colours and then also changed the molds in the machines.

I offer no inside scoops on how they make Lego bricks - I was sat at the end of a conveyor packing bottles into boxes for 8 hours. As you can imagine I had the time of my life. But I can tell you all about the different types of faults plastics can get! ;)

Anyone can give a list of things we know about the Diagon Alley?

It will retail for $400 and has setnumber 75978, that's it. All the other info are guesses based on hints from kingnono but it's not concrete info

I would look at this site, it predicts what will be listed as "retiring soon" on the Lego website https://retiringsets.com/lego-retiring-soon/

I wouldn't worry about the Great Hall, as Guyon said. It's out of stock due to covid yes, but I assume it's as the factories are closed. It's still a popular set. But like the other 2018 sets, it will retire like all Lego sets do, and we can expect this to be in 2020 just based on other sets/themes (I'm not sure why it's listed on the above site when other sets in the theme aren't). But you'll have plenty of time - it will be listed as "retiring soon", then will retire on Lego Shop, then will retire elsewhere. It will also be on discount again - sign up to price alerts, and also deals websites and you'll almost certainly be able to nab it. Also keep an eye on other countries' Amazons - I normally order from Amazon UK obviously but Amazon DE is often cheaper. And also, when it's in the final phase of retiring elsewhere, they'll all probably put some clearance offers on if you're lucky. But I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

Put it this way - Aragog's Lair retired months ago and it's still available at one or two shops here.

Roller Coaster is also listed as at risk of retirement, as it's nearly two years old. I'm not sure what you mean by "already" for Assembly Square - it's over 3 years old now, and they've got 4 modulars on the go right now - so I'd hurry if you want that one. But again, it's not even listed as retiring soon on lego S@H so no need to panic.

Also I'm a year behind too lol, although trying to catch up so I can get some awesome new stuff!

I'm a new collector and i'm worried to. Especially of the Hogwarts castle that i don't have. Great hall and Hogwarts express is the another two i miss.

I really want the treehouse and i've seen other speculated it probably will be retired (and the assembly square to, luckily i'm not interest).. I'm little stressed to.

I think many of the smaller sets will be retired, maybe some of the from 2019 to. My guess is that the great hall don't get retired this year.

Then what is the rumoured set number for the burrow?

I missed out on a lot of the 2019 sets and the Hogwarts express. Which sets are most worth to get? Or should I just wait for the 2020 sets?

I mean if you're worried about missing out it's worth getting the Hogwarts Express since it's a year older. The 2019 sets will be around for a while. Up to you, depends what you want!

Is this accurate? I'm new so I don't know who's reliable and who's not.

Nice to be getting concrete details now! A Lupin from HBP would have been great (gotta nitpick something) but this set is going to be a day one purchase for sure. I’m interested if Ginny will be in her bathrobe or if they’ll pick an outfit from another scene
