Balrogofmorgoth Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Well I guess that settles that. Diagon Alley is not just a bigger version of the GWP and will include Borgin and Burke per Kingnono

Kind of makes me feel like it will be a bunch of seperate buildings like the 2011 one but he also said before it has pins. I just don't see how B&B that is supposed to be in an entirely different street would fit into that.

But now I start wondering again what the other shops would be and if my favorites are among them

I have a feeling it will just be a bunch of separate buildings. Any decent street would take up a bunch of extra pieces; I'd much rather have as much as possible go into the buildings themselves, and leave it up to the buyer how they want to display the buildings, and if they want to add a street then they can build it themselves.

That's what I would be just fine with! It's the main idea of Lego to go for individual styles. And rather uncreative people like me just need to wait some days until the first fabulous MOCs appear

Borgin and Burkes will undoubtedly turn out great and be fun to buid but I heavily dislike it's inclusion in this set. It's Diagon Alley, not Knockturn Alley so it has no place in this set imo. They already made that mistake in 2011 so I'm sad to see they made the same mistake again. Won't stop me from buying the set though!

It’s not part of Diagon Alley, but it is extremely connected to events in Diagon Alley and makes for more interesting building and play dynamic. I really like its inclusion, however, I sincerely hope it’s not at the cost of other shops from Diagon Alley specifically. If any shop could have stood alone as a set it would be B&B

Agreed, this is why I didn‘t mind its inclusion last time and don‘t mind it now The exterior was already great last time around, but the new versions could really improve upon its interior, which was incredibly lackluster
deskp Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 If it is indeed so expensive, I'd iamgine at least all the shops they go into in the movies are included. That's likely why we get the leaky cauldron. If each building is separate to be connected with pins, then they end up using a lot mroe peices to build all the side walls. Borkin and Burkes doesn't exactly have the most interesting exterior.
sammy_zammy Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Lol the lego_harry_potter_leaks person trying to debunk kingnono in the post comments now.

In set 4840 they indeed used 64647 - but just in a transparent orange for the regular chimney fire. The floo powder flames were represented by two simple stickers (click me). God I really hated that fireplace. I hope the new one is inside the house instead of an separate build.

Zepthire Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 If there was a gap in the buildings for Knockturn alley and then B&B connected sideways to the back of one of the other buildings with pins it could still work as an actual street look. I don't normally make MOC's but I would be inclined to build the buildings onto base plates if they didn't already have them.

Balrogofmorgoth Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) Kingnono hints with such confidence, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s seen them firsthand to be honest. That’s just how his info comes across to me. I would say we’ll find out soon enough but we probably won’t see pics of Diagon Alley for a while 14 minutes ago, Falconfan1414 said: But in this debate the other guy literally dm me and said it’s something he heard from inside Lego I knew he would be one of those Also according to kingnono, the advent calendar is based on OOTP. Probably Christmas at Grimmauld Place? Hopefully an exclusive Sirius Edited April 19, 2020 by Balrogofmorgoth
