While expensive it would be cool to have a blue version of the Gyrosphere as that water ball, I don't know if they could do it in another way. Voldemort's firesnake shouldn't be hard to do

I love this idea! It would allow kids to throw their Voldy minifig inside of the blue gyrosphere and abuse him a bit in there just like Dumbledore did.

If they wanted to cheap out on the snake, to not waste pieces, they could do the nagini mould in trans red, or glittery like the patroni, but I don’t think that would be a very good choice, a basilisk sized one would be good but they would have to make the mixel joints in a new colour and I don’t think they would ever do that, especially not trans red or orange.

the water sphere could be made out of the tri fighter canopy pieces (StarWars) and have them printed with a water pattern so it is easier to open and close

harry could have a duel sided face if he was included, possessed and normal

Call me impatient, but this wait is really killing me now. I know images will come when they come. I’m just dying to see them, and knowing it could be any time now makes it so much worse when it doesn’t happen

It wouldn’t be so bad if we weren’t under quarantine with almost nothing to distract us

Trans red Nagini as the firesnake would almost be on the same level of bad as the GH's Basilisk so it better not be that :laugh_hard: (in terms of representing the in-universe spell, I'd love to have a trans red Nagini). I think using blue cockpits for the waterball could work but the hinges sticking out would look really weird.

The wait is killing me too, I'm dying to know what the Astronomy Tower and Grawp are going to look like. But patience is key, they'll come when they come (like you said)

You just described me lmao. Exactly one year ago we got the pictures for the 2019 wave and I looked at the old discussion forum to see at what time they were released ?

Yeah I think I’m most curious about those two builds as well. And yeah finding ways to distract myself is key to being patient. There’s only so much Tolkien I can read to pass the time though lol

? I get it, any way to try to predict it. I don’t think there’s really any rhyme or reason to when it happens though

I think I might go watch ootp and hbp, get myself in the mood for the reveals, whenever they may be, also try and find major scenes or things they have missed in this wave for future waves

Posted (edited)

Since CoS mentioned here. I just hope in the future they will shift to an "underground" set,

that will connect to Hogwarts current build to make a complete castle display like D2C set

We can have CoS under the Great hall, Philosopher stone challenge under the Clock tower of example

another set could be Slytherin common room, Snape's classrom

but the problem is the display side of the set will be an only stone wall and hill,

seem to be a hard sell for kids.

I’m watching OotP right now for the same reason! More than anything, it is making me realize how badly I want a Grimmauld Place set... It could be so good!

That would be great

Woah, I’m annoyed that the best HP wave and the virus will coexist the same year! Mr. Day-one-purchase no mo’ (Not trying to sound like a little brat here )

I’m excited to see what this other set will be. I thought that a MoM set was automatically discarded when kingnono posted his “expectations” and said we’re not getting everything, but he was probably just talking about the minifigures (CMF, burrow, diagon alley)

If it is indeed the MoM, I guess Percy would be the only interesting figure... if he’s included, that is.

This was discussed a while ago and the problem would be that you would need all of the underground sets to hold up the other ones, you couldn’t just get one of them and put it underneath because nothing would hold up the rest

The worst thing about it is that I have a presentiment that there could be almost a whole week between now and (even) the (partial) reveal :hmpf_bad:

Agreed, it also hard for lego to advertise when the old set above them is retired too ...

Just wishful thinking :iamded_lol:

I'm re-reading the series and I'm currently on number 5. It makes me so excited knowing how many loved characters we're getting this year. 2020 is like a dream come true for Lego HP fans. :pir-love:

Y'know, I bet the pics ARE out there on the web, but nobody has looked at every random Asian or European toy shop yet.

I tried searching the set numbers via Google Images with some time filters - no result unfortunaltely, but I agree with you

I'm a bit on the fence about this one, the only scenario I definetely don't think will happen is D2C + CoS. It just doesn't make much sense to put another set based on the second movie in a wave focused on movies 5 and 6. And given I personally don't think the Chamber could be done justice with a budget under $80 and I doubt they'll have 3 ~$100 sets in just one year (excluding the D2C) I think a ~$50 set based off the MoM's Atrium makes the most sense. In the end there is both evidence for and against getting another set but if it happens there is no doubt in my mind it will turn out as you predicted (maybe not 100% though as minifigure predictions always tend to be a bit off).

Can you think of any other scenes that could make a good small-medium sized set in OotP? I feel there's a lot of storytelling in OotP and not many scenes left that actually translate well into Lego. Just curious if it could be something we haven't even considered.

A ~$20 set based of Dumbeldore and Voldemorts duel would be fantastic imo

I agree (although I'd resent that fake leak guy on IG being correct lol), personally I like smaller sets just as much as big ones as I feel it means they focus on the key parts of a scene. And it also allows you to buy more than one of the set to make it feel more substantial if you really want, without repetition being forced on you by making it more expensive. I like that about Lego - they know how much to add to a scene and don't overdo it.

Hopefully we'd get some spell/energy pieces that can connect onto the new wands, or just the same ones that are used for the superhero set, but with a connector to the wands

1 hour ago, Guyon2002 said:

I think the base idea works really well but you'd run into problems when it comes to wand colors, especially with characters like Voldemort and Picquery who are the only ones with white and purple wands

Lol I tried balancing the patronus satellite dish in Expecto Patronum on Harry's wand, needless to say it didn't go particularly well. I never liked the fact it comes from the tree for the sake of a play feature.

It's interesting how all we were talking about was DA a few days ago, and now in anticipation we've moved onto the normal sets. I've never experienced this before (well I guess I have with Nintendo Directs but it's not as friendly a community lol) and it's really exciting. I think it's just imagining what scenes we can create that hypes me up, even though I've told myself to collect all the 2018/19 ones first!

The waiting is incredibly annoying, but at least we‘re now almost past last year‘s reveal date, so leaks could drop any day now :moar:

What annoys me more though is what @jdubbs has pointed out in the Star Wars thread: we already could have pictures of various themes by now, if it weren‘t for some would-be leakers on IG that just had to betray the Monkie Kid source, causing TLG to drop the hammer on them :hmpf_bad:

I have sympathy for them. People want to have complete collections and I don't blame them. This year we're getting a 6 set wave, 2 Brickheads sets, an expensive D2C, a minifigure wave (now with the new higher price in the US), a polybag, a book with exclusive minifigure, and an advent Calendar. That's enough. Even people who just want the minifigure stuff still have a lot to collect more than the last two years since now they have to spend $400 on a D2C. Also while these sets may be out for awhile there will also be another wave in a year.

This year we're already getting 2 $100 sets and a $70 set so I think we're good on large sets. We also have a $20 and $30 set so I think we're good with small sets. There is a bit of a gap for a mid-range set though even when you include the buildable owl.  I'd be down for an-otter $50 set but not the Chamber of Secrets. This wave is meant to represent OOTP/HBP and we already have 1 COS set. COS already uses more of the budget than OOTP and I feel it would a bit overboard to give it as many sets as OOTP and HBP. If anything I think we should get a midrange ministry set like Kingnono mentioned awhile ago.

We know LEGO planned for HP to be an evergreen theme when they were bringing it back and with how successful it has been it probably will be. There will be plenty of time for them to release a Chamber if Secrets set and sets from other previously covered films later. One of the best things about the HP reboot is that LEGO uses it sparingly. It's reasonably manageable for your average kid or collector to get the whole line (when excluding the things that aren't minifigure scale) this then encourages kids and collectors to attempt to do so.

Some others lego themes have even more sets released than hp, like friends, star wars.. I don't see another hp set for $80-100 is unrealistic. I don't think hp will be a theme that will stay (even if i want), probably 1-3 year more.

I want a complete collection to and started in the end of last year. I still missing some sets and have to wait to get all of them (and often buying on sale). It's not necessery to buy everything on the first day of release. Even if it come more sets next year it's probably not includes another D2C set.

I hope that we will get an CoS set for $80-100 even if I will wait to buy it until I have all the set from 2018-2019 first.

No need to get your wands in a knot,  @Guyon2002 & @sammy_zammy . I value and appreciate your opinions, even when I disagree with them.

I’m curious about what the general consensus is now on 75978...

Who thinks it will be a Ministry of Magic set? Who thinks it will be the Chamber of Secrets? Who still thinks it is the D2C or something else entirely?

I think it would be an CoS set, for me it's the most logical. Even if a MoM set isn't impossible. If it would be an CoS set I hope it includes a castle section.

Yeah it would have to be huge! And also there's the fact that you can arrange the Hogwarts sections however you like which would be an issue. And also I question how they could make an underground section stable enough without wasting loads of pieces on technic beams simply to hold stuff above up, sets that many people may not even have and so would be pointless for those people and reduce the amount of other stuff they can put in.

I think it's safe to say this modular design is staying side-to-side not top-to-bottom, even if it causes continuity issues with underground which should be clear by now isn't important to Lego.

I've said before and I'll say it again - Lego really went all out on minifigs. Heck, I wasn't planning on buying the Hungarian Horntail set as I didn't like the dragon, but bought it anyway yesterday almost solely for the minifigs.

This is a very important thing to remember - there's no need to immediately buy, and next year could be much less expensive to allow you to catch up. And most of these will probably be easily gotten for 30% off if you're patient (at least in the UK I find that achievable most of the time, don't know about elsewhere) and nab any deals, maybe more around November/December.
