Lion King Posted May 12, 2020 Posted May 12, 2020 Hello folks! I just joined here so I am super new to the forum. I am sorry if I sound dumb to ask some quesitons but i am way behind to catch up with this Harry Potter discussion. What is D2C, exactly? I know it’s Diagon Alley stuff but I really have no idea what D2C means... Anyway, i am super excited about CMF Harry Potter sereis 2! A Students pack sounds actually great! I doubt we would get some characters, such as Angelina Johnson, Katie Bell, MIllicnet (?), etc. BUT I do hope they will come in minifigure form!

D2C means "direct to consumer" which generally are the biggest sets leo has to offer and are exlusively sold by them the first 2-3 months

Since there’s no need to bring up fan theories unless at least one of the required two isn’t canonically confirmed I suspect that Rita Skeeter will be the only ‘true Slytherin’ other than Bellatrix to be in the CMF, with the slot you have Lucius in going to the second Hufflepuff (probably OotP Tonks). Kingnono has stated Lucius will appear but taking into account his other hints it will probably be in the D2C or possibly the as yet unknown retailer exclusive. (Likewise, Lockhart has been outright stated to appear but also has a chance of showing up in the D2C, putting that slot of the CMF into question, although unlike Lucius he has a chance at showing up in both).

I see what you are getting at. I didn't forget what Kingono said tho, but because they are rumored everyone's guess is as good as mine. All of the rumored figures on my list could be wrong or all of them right, there is just no way of knowing for sure. (apart from rita skeeter, I believe Kingnono outright stated she'd come in the CMF

(apart from rita skeeter, I believe Kingnono outright stated she'd come in the CMF Kingnono actually hasn’t outright stated any characters will specifically appear in the CMF. He’s just hinted that a bunch of characters will appear this year - specifically: the polyjuiced trio (specifically Harry as Goyle), Sirius Black, Ollivander, Madam Pomfrey, Lockhart, Rita Skeeter, Lucius Malfoy, and ‘another Tom’, plus Molly, Ginny, and Tonks who all showed up in the Burrow but could easily all appear in other places as well. Obviously some of these characters are expected to show up in the CMF because they simply wouldn’t fit anywhere else, but the only hint that kingnono has specifically given about the characters in the CMF is that there will be at least two members from each house, which is why no list of theories can claim to be a proper compilation of the current rumors without taking that into account.

Okay, well these were just some of the figures talked about on here, it could very well be, without rita skeeter or anything because as you say, kingnono hasn't specifically stated any figure will appear. for the record this was just a list for a member asking about confirmed and rumored figures, so i compiled one of all the confirmed and some of the rumored/spoken about figures

His posts have been reposted by other trusted Instagram lego leakers and the characters he hinted at which appeared in the Burrow have proven that his information is at the very least mostly accurate

Because it didn’t include all the rumored figures to appear and ignored the two per house hint (which is the most concrete clue we’ve gotten so far) it would be rather misleading to someone who wasn’t keeping track of this thread and the #legoleaks tag on Instagram. I was simply trying to clarify and help provide more complete information.

I used the Room of Requirements to form one of the quad walls. It's a bit of a wonky "square" but at least now the Great Hall is at the correct 45-degree angle from the rest of the Castle. This looks really great! Am I the only one who doesn't want to set up a screen-accurate Hogwarts though, or even a Hogwarts using the pins that seem to create a straight line? I'd rather just have the sets in a cluster, all facing forwards, maybe with the Whomping Willow wall for some depth at the back and the GH, CT and AT altogether at the front?

But I also love seeing how people are arranging them and setting up something "movie accurate" - which of course has a degree of futility given the inconsistencies in the films. @Ferder's looks both fantastic and easily achievable, and if I had the space (and the Whomping Willow set ) I'd definitely try it out.

That’s definitely true, I really love seeing such a range of layouts and proposed layouts. To be fair I don’t have enough space or parts to MOC a proper Hogwarts layout. I’ve only got the GH out of the Hogwarts sets so far so I’ll probably have a play around when I get more.

I just have them as intended on the box. Where I have them though, they already hang over a bit on the edges so I doubt I’ll be able to put the AT in it’s “proper” place & may have to rearrange. I do enjoy seeing all of these different layouts. Gives me ideas just in case. Edited May 13, 2020 by Vindicare

I don't care much about the screen-accuracy of my castle either. I just try to work with the space I have available and move things around untill I've found a natural shape that looks good and also leaves some space for other sets.

What I've been putting together is a mix of both. I've had a lot of fun trying to make the front part accurate to the main look of the castle from the front in the films, with the Great Hall, Gryffindor Tower and an MOC Viaduct with space for the parts of the Astronomy Tower to complete the front look. But I do like having some depth to my castle as well so behind that I've created a green courtyard space and a few other bits of castle I've either made myself or adapted from the 2010 Hogwarts.
Legoniche Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 If this hogwarts students set really is a minifigure, a-a-and it really is including 4 minifigures from each house- personally I’d like each house figure to be in robes and not jumper, seeing as we have each house in jumpers, and we don’t have slytherin or Hufflepuff in robes, and we see hogwarts students in robes more frequently than JUST in a jumper, which is actually seen quite rarely in the films, the majority of the time they’re in robes which is something I haven’t been able to grasp as to why for YEARS, this whole time Lego have been putting them in JUST jumpers, I imagine the black capes were supposed to represent the robes, but it was just inn-accurate to the main appearances for hogwarts uniforms, so when 2018 rolled around and we got more jumpers, I was sort of like, okay, fine. But then we got picture of the CMF And I died and went to heaven, those torso’s and legs are beautiful and more accurate to the common appearance. Now of course we have the slytherin robes as well.
Willsy Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I pre-ordered the AT through Amazon UK and they're saying they don't have a delivering date, and it looks like this is the case for all of the new Potter sets. Is this normal when pre-ordering Lego through them or is it pandemic-related (since they're focusing on essentials first and foremost)?
hagridshut Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Not a Harry Potter set, but is anyone considering converting this into Malfoy Manor? It's supposed to be an amusement park attraction, but the architecture and "dark artifacts" make it a compelling candidate for the lair of Lucius Malfoy & family. https://brickset.com/article/51362/this-year-s-fairground-set-revealed!

Based on one's own perception of what Malfoy Manor looks like it could work but this looks nothing like the movie version. And given this set isn't interesting at all imo it's an incredibly easy skip for me, I'll spend that 230 euro on DA Edited May 13, 2020 by Guyon2002

It has a super detailed interior, and looks impressive, but perhaps a little plain and boxy from the outside. Also the fairground theming feels a bit awkwardly tacked on, when it could be used for more interesting interiors, and also makes the minifigures included just random people rather than spooky monsters. There's stuff I'd rather buy, put it that way. Also the marketing is a mess with the whole 18+/non-Creator Expert thing. That set, interestingly does give me hope for the price of Diagon Alley in Europe and the UK. Hogwarts Great Hall was $400, €400 and £350, so I was expecting it to be the same as that in € and £. But the Haunted House is $250, yet €230 and £210. Which is already 20/40 difference, at a set just over half the price of DA in $. Maybe we could expect £3350/€370? That would be nice. It's also the super detailed approach I want Lego to take for DA shop interiors to do them justice, albeit with a little more room for minifigs, and not the dollhouse style as that'd essentially halve the number of shops. That was definetely nice to see, especially considering it's quite rare for Dutchies to get a big set at the same price as Germany (the Hogwarts D2C and UCS Falcon for example were both 50 euro more expensive here)
