Changing the subject slightly...

Here is another one of my small complimentary builds: an addition to the Great Hall; the Headmasters Tower.

They may do. That's partly my point; we don't yet know this year's full lineup. But if not and they come in the CMF then at least we get them.

I'm willing to buy the Ministry of Magic even if it costs $ 250+, include all the main characters, and be the size of a Death Star

But they will make an owl

Very nice, I started to do something like this then stopped because the D2C came out so I got less picky about the other sets. Your design is much more thought out than mine, I like it a lot

Interesting. Did you get the inspiration from the Hogwarts Castle's towers? I've always found it cute how they construct the towers on that build.

Nothing I said comes even remotely close to this. I'm just saying LEGO decides what does or doesn't get made, if they think the Astronomy Tower sells better than the CoS they'll produce and sell the Astronomy Tower. They are a business so their first priority is gaining a good profit, not catering to fans

They know it will sell. That’s why they’re waiting. If they release all the best sets that will sell instantly right away, they’re shooting themselves in the foot because then later all they will have to release are less desirable sets. They’re saving some of the best ones to keep the theme going longer

I’m sure it will happen down the line, don’t let that stop you from enjoying the things we are getting which is a lot more than we ever had before

I completely agree with this, the theme doesn't seem to be going anywhere especially with more potential Fantastic Beasts tie-ins from next year. Also now they've included Privet Drive in a wave mostly centred on later films they've showed that we can maybe start getting 1 or 2 fill-in sets instead of having to wait for a whole new wave on the first films.

Also this isn't like Star Wars where there's 20 sets a year, Lego are showing that they want to take their time with this theme. I say lets be patient and enjoy what we're getting at the moment, instead of worrying that other sets might not be made in the future.

Buildable Hedwig (What for?

To get something different, it’s boring getting castle after castle after castle, something like this is good, if it sells well we will get more and the theme will continue longer, if it doesn’t then we won’t get more creatures and you have nothing to worry about, also I would argue that the first wave was probably the worst if this wave lives up to my expectations

Why make all these characters in CMF if LEGO can make Grimmauld Place and the Ministry of Magic?

I need a Chamber of Secrets. I doubt that there are those who do not agree.

Well we still need many sets, we can't get everything at once. Barely anyone would be able to afford that. There would be very few 'true fans' left if Lego did that.

Why should I take a character with a yellow face?

Why do I have to wait several years for LEGO to make skipped sets?

Well the examples I gave, being Ginny and the death eaters like Lucius or Bellatrix definitely don't have have yellow face. The only characters that are left without flesh colours would be Vernon (who we're getting this year in this 'very disappointing' wave*oh2*) Lockhart and Tom Riddle. The latter would be very easy to create with the parts Lego gave us in case you really can't wait and Lockhart still has plenty of chance to appear in this wave (so does Tom Actually). All the others, which are really just animal molds or creatures, would still work next to the flesh figures.

And no, you don't have to wait several years for Lego to make skipped sets. We got the whomping willow in wave 1. The yule ball, waiting tent, Beauxbaton Carriage and forbidden forest lake in wave 2. And in this wave we're getting the Astronomy Tower, Grawp in the Forbidden Forest and Room of Requirements. All sets that we never got so we could technically say they were skipped. But again Lego can't just give us everything at once, that would be a terrible move as barely anyone would be able to buy that.

Great that you have the money lying around to afford that. Most people don't. Besides this theme would be done rather quickly if Lego made a set with all main characters in one set.

Lego is doing what will be sold, they've been doing so for 2 waves now and by the look of the youtube videos, Instagram posts and anyone's comments here they will be bought, a lot. That's except for maybe your comment, not sure if you'll buy them, but going by your 'true fans buy everything' comment I assume it will even be sold to you.

The Cos won't be a failed set, but that doesn't mean others will be, nor that they should make it right away.

You should be ashamed

Just a quick reminder not everyone here is English, in fact most people probably aren't, so they might have read the books or seen the movies in their own language, thus not knowing the precise English way to write things. This is Eurobricks after all, not Englishbricks. It's hard enough for us to check the English names every time as it is, small mistakes are easily made.

That's amazing, I will definitely be using this. I really don't get why Lego didn't do this themselves considering they paid so much detail to everything else in this revived theme.

I kind of agree with you but I do t think anyone is “unhappy” with them, I have every set so far (all of them not just the new waves) and I’m ecstatic they are being new sets out but would prefer it if the had of included more new thing in the first wave

Loving what I'm hearing about this year's new Potter sets. In fact I'm so excited I've gone on a bit of a spending spree and have started to re-buy a ton of the older sets I stupidly sold before my kids were born. I'm most excited for Privet drive as that was one of my favourite of the original run, although like many I'd love a new Burrow, (hoping to get the original very soon). Any more new on the rumours of new Potter Brickheadz or has that been disproved? thanks everyone.

I really hope Fred and George are included in the Privet Drive set (or some other set eventually) as I missed the Diagon Alley set which is currently the only time they were featured in a set.

I am looking forward to this next wave though, sounds like they'll be awesome additions to my collection of the recent waves that started in 2018. :)

I think the new sets all sound good. If we get a good centaur mold that would be fantastic. Not super excited about the patronuses. Would prefer Fred & George over Ron & Dobby in the Privet drive set. Getting the Dursleys is great.

This wave does feel a little light on new characters though, especially for those of us that already have Umbridge & Horace Slughorn. I must admit I was hoping for a Burrow set with Bellatrix, Fenrir and some of the other Weasleys.

Hopefully the CMF will bring a lot of the characters we are missing.

Regardless, Harry Potter is still my favourite theme for the past few years. The number of great minifigures we have gotten so far is amazing... One can only imagine how it will look after one more CMF and next years wave...

I think Hedwig and Owls in general are huge in Asia. The China Market might be the target for a buildable Hedwig.

Or much simpler than that: Hedwig is one of the first ''magical'' characters we get introduced to (at least in the movies) who sticks around for the majority of the story

Very true.

It’s much like Privat Dr . The appeal of Harry Potter is leaving a normal house and home, getting a letter telling you that you’re special and going someplace magical. Privat Dr is an essential part of the fantasy. I hope it has all the classic parts like his bed under the stairs and letters from the fireplace.

We already know the cupboard under the stairs and fireplace are included. If you didn't you might want to read the last few pages of discussion/info

Well an Owl has the appeal to people outside the usual LEGO fan base (Harry Potter fans) as well as ourselves. I can imagine lots of people having this as a desk/shelf ornament or the like.

LEGO does make what is sold. The fact that Harry Potter has been one of the highest selling themes last year proved this.

That looks very good . One of the few flaws from the Great Hall set was that it didn't have that addition.

Lego is actually making what will be sold. You're saying a 20€ classroom with two new Patronuses and three students won't sell well? Or a 30€ set with 5 minfigures and a Grawp build? Or a Privet Drive set with three Dursleys for the 1st time in Lego form? Or an Anstronomy Tower with 8 minfigs based on Half-Blood Prince? I love the sound of every single one of them, and if I could, I would immediately buy all of them, cause they sound fantastic.

Every single time wave info is released, we have these self anointed “true” fans come out of the woodwork. LEGO isn’t forcing you to buy these sets, if you don’t like something then don’t buy it. Well constructed critiques are fine but petty entitlement is unacceptable. We don’t even have all the details or images to make a proper assessment.
Be happy we are even getting sets again because there was a long ten year drought where we got nothing. By the sounds of it the overwhelming response has been positive to the details of this wave this far and rightfully so. Getting Privet Drive is a very pleasant surprise and you call Privet Drive an unimportant location yet you want Grimmauld Place? Come on, Privet Drive appears in almost all the films where Grimmauld Place is really only in OoTP. It’s the home of the main protagonist, literally the start of his adventure. We learn what Harry was like before he became a wizard and it shows him at his most sympathetic as a loner child. Yeas we all want a Chamber of Secrets but I have heard that sentiment a thousand times and echoing won’t make it come true. Heck they might be more sets in August. Enjoy what we are getting because this by and far the greatest Lego theme running rn.

It really is isn't it? I kinda feel bad for the fans of the other themes, they really don't get the same amount of detail, care and variety in the sets as we do. It really doesn't get much better than this. We really get everything, System Scale sets cmf series (unlike Marvel and Star Wars), advent calendars (unlike Marvel and DC), micro/nanoscale (or whatever the right name for it is) sets (unlike star wars and DC), 'statues' (unlike DC and Jurassic World?) Sets with almost only exclusive figures, many with full detail. Tons of new molds. Vehicles, locations, creatures, buildings with interiors in every single wave so far.

Boy do I love Lego Harry Potter, we really get what we're paying for, value for money or however the saying goes.

Posted (edited)

I'm not saying the designers don't try with other themes, but I just get the feeling with Harry Potter that the designers are loving creating the sets as much as we are enjoying getting them. I hope the theme continues for a good while and stays feeling as fresh and high quality as it has done so far. :classic:
