I’ve certainly got nostalgia for the old line, but the sets we’ve gotten in the last three years have been pretty awesome. I truly believe it’s one of the best themes LEGO’s ever done. Also, cool display!

In this case, it might look like: 1. Privet Drive (minus the Ford Anglia) 2. Diagon Alley 3. Viaduct Entrance from Astronomy Tower 4. Hedwig (if I buy that one) 5. Ford Anglia from Privet Drive 6. The Burrow 7. Greenhouse from Astronomy Tower 8. Advent Calendar 9. Room of Requirement 10. Forbidden Forest 11. Astronomy Tower I find it more fun to do it this way if I have the money at the time (and watching the accompanying scenes while building, naturally). And I won’t even get into assembling minifigures in order. Clearly, I have issues. If I have the money I like to buy the entire wave at once and build smallest to largest, but I’ve never done it chronologically! 1 hour ago, 8fifty said: Looking at three waves meanwhile, I would definitely not hold my breath about that ? Holy moly, how many Lego sets do you order per year? ?? Btw, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who can get very impatient about things like Lego and who sometimes does freaky things just to get the stuff as early as possible ? Haha, I’m a college student and all of my spending money basically goes to LEGO, and I’ve been saving the points up for a couple years now. I never want to use them but this seems like the perfect time to! I also try to take advantage of double points whenever possible, and I mostly buy my sets directly from LEGO unless they’re ridiculously overpriced, in which case I seek out Amazon or eBay.

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 (edited) @Holden Brickfield: Thanks! I agree, it's really one of the best themes out there @Balrogofmorgoth: I knew you'd catch that 1 hour ago, SuperChris said: That display case is beaut and the sets look great together! This specific display case is quite tricky to find since the manufacturer (a German company named Fredriks) don't sell it themselves, but rather sell it to different furniture stores, who then all proceed to give it a different name, probably to prevent people from finding the same piece of furniture at their competitors Google reverse image search to the rescue!! As far as I know, both stores I've found it at don't exist in the UK, which might complicate things. At Conforama, it's known as "Optima" while home24 calls it "Exhibit IV" (https://www.home24.ch/produkt/vitrinenschrank-exhibit-iv-inkl-beleuchtung-weiss). Maybe a Google reverse image search might yield some results for you too? Edited June 10, 2020 by Lego-Freak

Yeah, I built last year's sets "chronologically." I didn't wait for the Advent Calendar, though, so basically I just bought the Prisoner of Azkaban/Goblet of Fire in July and August. It was actually pretty enjoyable that way!
lego_guyon02 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Bricks and Pieces has reopened it's doors in even more countries today. I checked the database for all the new Harry Potter sets and these are all the pieces currently available: - Greybacks torso - Vernons torso - Harry's torso - Ginny's torso - Arthurs torso - Dobby's legs - Brown owl - Lavenders torso Act quick if you want some of this stuff, it won't be there for long
2lazeetomakeaname Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 I think the Hogwarts expansion in 2022 (next years will surely be a Battle of Hogwarts set) should be a flashback Hogwarts with young Mauraders, Snape and Lily. That is, if theres any sections left to do...

Given how small a part the flashbacks have in the movies (and even in the books) I think it’s far more likely that 2022 will see them start going back and do things like the Forbidden Corridor and the Chamber of Secrets. The Chamber especially has been talked about and coveted since the theme’s reboot and 2022 will be the 20th anniversary of the original set too.
sebastian666 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 This is a totally random and relatively unimportant question, but I’m curious what other folks on here think... If we get minifigs of Harry, Draco, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny in the rumored D2C Diagon Alley set, what are the chances that they will include their black capes? Those little black capes are so iconic in that scene from Chamber of Secrets, and they were one of my favorite aspects of the old school LEGO Harry Potter minifigs as a kid. All of them came with a little black cape! If they are included, I hope they are the same length and material they used for the capes in the Quidditch set - they were perfect.

No offense, but how could we know? It's all up to the designers of the set. And that's a big if, because we don't know if we'll get those minfigures in the first place.

Those black star spangled capes from the 2001-02 waves really are a nostalgia trip aren’t they? And the material they made them out of back then must have had a tendency to stick to itself because I have a nice little handful of extra capes from the sets I got back then. I think whether or not we get CoS versions of the trio + Draco and Ginny depends a lot on whether Lego decides to give us older and younger variations in the same set. If we’re only getting one version of each character I suspect they’ll stick to HBP, (although perhaps with Lockhart and Lucius still hang out in Flourish and Blotts) just because WWW will be such a strong presence if it’s there and the casual clothes are more interesting. For that matter, even if we do get the Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and Draco from CoS I could see us getting PS/SS Harry to go with them, because he’s only wearing a solid colored shirt and pants under his cloak and his oversized hand me downs are much more iconic since they appeared in the Ollivander’s scene (on a related note, Ron is wearing his Weasley Christmas jumper under his cloak, the same one from last year’s advent calendar).

Yes!!! Haha exactly. I will have to dig through my storage bins to find those old star spangled capes again. Major nostalgia trip. I also love the old LEGO Harry Potter video game with all of the students running around and their black capes (solid black - not star spangled) floating behind them. Love it. I do think there’s a pretty good possibility that we will get both younger and older versions of some characters. There is precedent for it with the D2C Millennium Falcon set. Now that it sounds like we won’t be getting Borgin & Burke (I’m just inferring this from falconfan’s recent comment), I have a feeling the set will be less HBP focused than I originally imagined. And I agree ? - I think if we get some younger COS students, the only younger Harry we will get will probably be the PS Harry since that outfit is so much more iconic. Thanks for your thoughts. If you haven’t noticed, the wait for some more info on this set is killing me. Can’t wait to see the first leaked photos.

Ha, thank you! I put Hedwig toward the end of year one because the included minifigure is Harry with his blue "falconry" gloves, as seen toward the end of winter, after Dumbledore tells him "it does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." But technically, you're right, Hedwig wasn't carrying a letter in that particular scene, so she could be built right after Diagon Alley...so the whole chronological building order starts to collapse pretty quickly.

Just the fact that there is absolutely no concrete and reliable information about the D2C or the remaining CMFs drives me crazy. There is so much going on in my thoughts ?
joeee Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Does anyone recall if the last year's wave (Clock Tower, Hagrid's Hut, etc.) was released BEFORE the announcement or leak of the Beauxbaton Carriage? I forget if I already was building the clock tower and hearing the news of more sets was SO exciting.

I definitely agree that there’s a decent chance of getting multiple versions of some characters, especially the main trio. The main problem is that the more ‘doubles’ you have, the fewer obscure unique characters we’re likely to get, and I would love to get at least a couple random shoppers to add to the ambiance. I suppose if it’s just the golden trio that get two versions it wouldn’t be so bad though. And I can definitely sympathize with being impatient for more news. I’m in the US and can’t really justify the extra expense of having the sets shipped over before they’re released here, so I don’t even have building the current wave to keep me occupied while I wait. Discussing all the possibilities is definitely what’s holding me over for the next month or so.

I would recommend moving the section of castle that you currently have Hermione standing on over to the left so it’s between the Great Hall and the Yule Ball segments. It makes for a much smoother and more linear display. There is no official recommendation from LEGO on where to put the Room of Requirement, but I think it looks best connected to the Greenhouse and facing inward so it forms a bit of a semi circle around the back of the Astronomy Tower set. Thank you very much!
RODDY Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 (edited) I was just looking at the 3D Diagon Alley jigsaw Puzzle and I would love something like this plus Gringotts. Obviously not as many stores, but the execution and setup is great. Edited June 11, 2020 by RODDY
