I actually really like the offical set but I can never leave the Harry Potter stuff alone. Blended two sets but it did need lots of extra bits to finish the roof and walls. Its fully enclosed, both sides open up on the ground floor and the side wall of the top sections. Interiors up on instagram @micmacpadwac. Looks good, like the inclusion of more animals, maybe we get a goose mould one day to go with the set 11 hours ago, Guyon2002 said: I honestly don't think Harry Potter will get another D2C after DA. I feel like we'll get a ''fill-the-gaps'' year in 2022 and that'll be it, no more D2Cs or sets beyond that untill another reboot comes around. As long as it sells as well as it do, Lego will make it evergreen! Why do you think the sets from 2018 is not retired yet? It is of course because they still are bringing in a lot of money even if most normal toy shops do not have them in stock any more. So Lego brand stores and web stores must sell a lot on their own 9 hours ago, RogueTwo said: I just realized that Diagon Alley is probably going to come in a big black box with "18+" on it. That really makes me mad. Obviously it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's one of the cringier things The LEGO Group has done recently. I feel like they're trying to make extra money off of the pandemic by marketing all expensive LEGO products as stress-relieving "projects" exclusively for adults. I think they are first and foremost toys (whatever Will Ferrell's character might say in The LEGO Movie), and I've never seen any problem with adults playing with toys. I really do not see the problem with the 18+ boxes. People in here are mostly aware of what is for them, but a new adult customer have to go true a lot of mixed sets before she/he finds the good stuff made for them. Think of it as a cloth shop where every product for male, female and kids are mixed together at random, it would be a nightmare to buy a new pair of jeans. I also do not think Lego came up with the idea this year, they have probably worked on it a long time so I hardly think it is a move to profit on the virus

Hogsmeade is the most popular setting in the Wizarding World here, second only to Hogwarts itself. Before covid-19, you couldn’t turn on American TV without seeing a commercial for Universal Studios featuring the beautiful angular snow-covered rooftops of Hogsmeade. Merchandising based on the village is crazy popular, too. The most popular right now is probably the Bradford Exchange illuminated Hogsmeade Christmas village, which resales for big bucks and features Three Broomsticks, Honeydukes, the Hogsmeade Train Station, the Shrieking Shack, and Hogwarts. Some of these pieces are incredibly hard to find. Americans have come to associate Hogsmeade more with happy memories of family vacations and less with the books and films themselves. It appeals to a very wide audience. I think a Hogsmeade D2C would sell like hot cakes. I didn't really take the themepark into consideration (seeing as they're not exactly accessible for me) but to my knowledge Hogsmeade isn't that big a thing in other sides of the world so I personally don't see a $400 Hogsmeade selling well globally. If you look at other $400+ sets they're things like the Falcon, ISD, Death Star, Hogwarts and now Diagon Alley. Those are all really iconic to their respective franchises so besides fans they'll be more likely to attract the general audiences. I could see a Hogsmeade set doing extremely well at $200 but 400 is pushing it (remember, $400 is a LOT of money to drop on a single set!). But that doesn't mean I don't want a Hogsmeade set because I definetely count myself as one of those people who would gladly drop $400 on such a set I just think a lower pricepoint is more likely.
Ringwraith Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Is the Diagon Alley set just going to be a rebranded remake of the 2011 version or is it actually going to have new elements, e.g. WWW and the bookstore (forgotten what it's called, Madam Rosmerta's I think?).

It's 250 more than the old set so expect it to be at least twice as large. Aside from price there is nothing concrete we can say about it's contents. The bookshop is called Flourish and Blotts, Madam Rosmerta is the owner of the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade

Nobody knows, we haven’t seen anything, and Madam Rosmerta is the landlady of The Three Broomsticks, the bookshop is Flourish and Blotts, the only madams on Diagon Alley are Madam Malkin’s, Madam Primpernelle’s and Madam Puddifoot’s ☺️

TheRandomBlocker Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Just opened up the Hedwig set and come to the first sticker to place and have discovered that I have 2 sticker sheets ?

I reckon 2 stickers sheets should be the standard. It would cost them basically nothing to add an extra sticker sheet, and it would be so useful for replacing, worn, damaged or misplaced stickers. :-)

It's just LEGO cutting costs wherever it's possible to do so
TheRandomBlocker Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Just building Privet Drive and it makes me seriously ask, would it be so hard to make those 1x1 rounded bricks into 1x2, 1x3 and 1x4, so tedious putting so many of those onto the armchair and sofa ??

I'm guessing because it was molded in a different factory? Not sure. Thanks for bringing this up, because I was really psyched out as I was assembling that minifigure ("I didn't remember Dobby's head being so squishy!"). I also just finished Privet Drive, which arrived from Zavvi two days ago. My overall impressions are pretty positive. The house itself is pretty much perfect; it's a little small, but it reminded me so much of "An Unexpected Gathering" from The Hobbit line, which is high praise, indeed. The minifigures are a mixed bag. While I'm happy to get all three Dursleys, it was beyond lazy to give Vernon a generic, reused torso that doesn't even have back printing!! I mean, Dudley gets a printed belly and Vernon doesn't? And if the set is supposed to be based on Chamber of Secrets, why give us a Dudley wearing his Philosopher's Stone outfit and a Petunia wearing her Prisoner of Azkaban outfit? These little things bothered me. Also, the flying car is a complete waste, IMO, and I think the boot, the bonnet, and the windows are all a step back from the one the came with the Whomping Willow. That may sound critical, but overall I absolutely adore the house, and I would give the set overall 7.5/10 if paying full price (as it happens, I paid slightly more than full price, so I'm a tiny bit salty). Even my brother, who is not a FOL, looked at Privet Drive and said, "That's an awesome little set!" Too bad the price tag is not exactly little. Edited June 17, 2020 by RogueTwo

I agree with everything you say, the only issue I have is not with the set, but with Lego themselves, we have gotten 2 versions of Mr Weasley’s Flying Ford Anglia in this reinvigorated theme, but we have not gotten a single version of the Weasley twins, imo, it’s like getting the Batmobile without Batman or Hagrid without fang, oh wait... ??
