We could get leaked set photos and people will still think it could be microscale!

It’s especially weird because we already got a microscale one as a GWP. How on earth would it be $400?

Just a normal shop size as far as I can see in the movie :shrug_oh_well:

I think WWW is bigger than others, in the later films most shops shrink on the new DA film set.

It's also one of the only shops to have windows on two walls, having a small Alley or yard in front of it with the chestnut roasting machine, which makes it seem bigger still. Pretty much all other shops only have windows on one side.

A new batch of LEGO Harry Potter sets recently launched, with the theme rumoured to continue with LEGO Harry Potter 75978 Diagon Alley on September 1. Stone Wars reports that the set will retail for a whopping EUR 399.99 and contain between 4,000 and 5,000 elements.

Uh based on the last 300+ pages of discussion I think we knew this already...

Heck, it could be on store shelves and some people still think it‘s microscale :head_back:

People will buy the set and build the minifigures and still think it’s micro scale.

I think the LEGO Assembly Square gives us a possible example for how Borgin & Burke’s could be incorporated into Diagon  Alley. See how the flower shop is set back from the pretzel shop but they still line up in the back? It’s just designed to be shallower so it gives the perception of being further back. If Borgin and Burke’s is included, I imagine it will be a much shallower build than the rest of the shops so that the set will make for a nice clean display piece.

I think it's more of a case that our discussions are the source of these articles now, than these articles being a source of our discussion.

I agree, reading Stonewars' article was almost like reading a checklist of everything we've discussed over the past months regarding DA :laugh_hard:

Exactly. Mos Eisley Cantina and all. ?

I don't understand how the minifigure/micro scale debate is still going on. It's as pointless as discussing if Hermionie will be in any of the 2021 sets.

But then it's definetely worth discussing, according to my ORATR algorithm (Obviously Real And Totally Reliable) there's a chance Hermione won't be in next years sets *oh2*

I guess some people were really traumatised by the Hogwarts D2C being microscale  At least that one made sense

Dang, that‘s one real and reliable sounding algorithm! Can I borrow it for my dissertation? :head_back:

Where did the information regarding 4000-5000 pieces come from? Or is that just an estimate based on the $400 price tag?

It's an estimation we made based on the price

I think it's an estimate based on the price tag, yes.

As for the whole micro/miniscale discussion, some people apparently REALLY want a huge chunk of London to come with DA. :P

How. We already have minifigure leaks, how could it be in microfig scale? Even discounting the other logical failures required to consider this an option, the minifigures alone confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that the set will be designed for minifigures.

Just because we have minifigures, means in no way solid that it will be minifigures scale.

You seem to forget the Hogwarts castle came with 4 minifigs, but was microscale, and had 6k pieces.

Assembly Square has 4000 pieces, and look at the size of it? It's nothing in comparison to the size of DA. Now imagine using just an extra 1000-2000 to make a decent minifig sized DA with many shops, a center street annnnnd Gringotts!

While I'm hoping for minifig scale DA, if it is, it'll just be store fronts with a bit of interior similar to city but a bit more in depth. Or perhaps, it'll be the end of DA right where Gringotts is, and include the closest shops to it (2 or 4 of them).

But you can't at any stretch use the fact we seen minifigs to dismiss microfig scale. Hogwarts Castle is proof enough of that.

Sure, just don't use it too long. According to the algorithm itself there's a good chance your brain will explode if you let it run for too long because of the inability of the human brain to hold that much info that's so real and so reliable, it's quite literally mindblowing :devil_laugh:

But unlike the Hogwarts Founders Florean Fortescue would be a really weird person to select for a small selection of figures to represent Diagon Alley in it's entirety.

I don’t normally join in conversations like this because they’re stupid and pointless, but the fact that 1 minifigure is a “play set” style figure of Harry and the other is Florean Fortesque proves that it won’t be micro-scale, neither of them are display figures, all 4 of the founders are display figures

Boom, this!! If they did 4 minifigures from DA that would be relevant for display, I would say;

Fred Weasley in WWW Suit

George Weasley in WWW suit

More detailed version of 2018 Ollivander

Griphook (based on PS, the CMF version is DH pt 2 I reckon)

I mean if it was microscale, which I‘m 100% certain it’s not, having Florean Fortescue and Harry Potter wouldn’t make logical sense. One is a background character while the other is the primary protagonists, exact opposites. Notice how the D2C Hogwarts has 4 similar characters of importance each being the houses’ founders. If it was microscale with minifigs, the selection would probably be of the big three and Hagrid or four rare characters, not a mix of the two as we have seen so far.

Now I’m a bit late to the game but I really love that Harry variant, big sucker for the first two movies and all the various young Harry attires. This one is almost on par with invisibility cloak Harry!

Of course the counter argument would be that, like the Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley could include the 'founders', or in this case patrons, of each shop represented as minifigures, hence the inclusion of Florean Fortescue. The counter argument to that argument though is that we are getting a Harry minifigure. So ... I say we leave it up to the algorithm to decide.

Waiiiit - it won't be microscale? ? But the most reliable sources reported it to be :sarcasm:

Who is Hermine? ? She only appears in the books, doesn't she? :sarcasm:

Ok, enough sarcasm for tod...let's say for now ? There have been a lot of suggestions here how the DA shops could be arranged. I'm really curious how it'll be finally realized. We may not forget that it must be in a way that is suitable for a box art ?

Just don’t look at the leaks then... no one is forcing you to! If you think that it’s better seeing it officially for the first time, why are you paying attention to leaks at all?

Because leaks are everywhere on Instagram, and I’m not going to avoid looking at the set if it does leak, especially not with everyone discussing it. I’m just saying I think it’s cooler when LEGO gets to reveal it in all its glory for the first time instead of seeing a grainy image on someone’s Instagram story. Like is there anyone here that actually prefers seeing poor quality leaked images before the HD ones? I love the excitement of leaks but for large D2Cs I like seeing the high quality pictures first, but it’s not like I can pick and choose what leaks to look at since we don’t know in advance when something leaks, I just see it on my Instagram feed when it does.

I agree with you. I always try to recognize at least some details on those grainy pictures but that's just impossible. And kind of exhausting as well. For me, it's painful enough when even the press release images don't show every single detail I want to see ?
