not sure who Nomad is ?? The head I have belongs to Cap

Technically right, Nomad is Captain America after he denounces the Avengers/America, hence why he’s no longer Captain America, the torn off star and avengers symbol (shoulder) symbolises his transition to Nomad, annoying that he never went by that name in the film, but he very rarely went by “Captain America” tbh

@Jarreth2 yeah, I was gonna use those parts but I wanted the Paris rooftops Dumbledore rather than Hogwarts Dumbledore ☺️, but yeah, the head (Nomad, not America, but easy mistake ?) and hair are the same as on mine ☺️

Nomad and Captain America are the exact same character, the Nomad name is just specific to the Infinity War outfit. In the comics Steve Rogers briefly abandons the Captain America title and takes on the alternate identity of 'Nomad'. In Captain America: Civil War Steve goes rogue as well and the costume he wears in Infinity War is a reference to that Nomad comic run

Yeah, what @Guyon2002 said!! I refuse to call the IW Steve Rogers “Captain America” because it’s a nod to Nomad and runs about as long ?, 4 issues in the comics, 1 film in the MCU ?

Ahhhh .. hence why I had no idea who Nomad was .. and why bricklink wouldn’t find him lol .. I’m so out of date on the Avengers films lol .. thanks though

I’ve also seen a couple of Theseus Scamander customs .. I’m still yet to make one for myself though

S’all good, tbh, in the Lego set (and on BL) he is listed as Captain America, I think there’s only 1 toy by Hasbro that refers to him as Nomad and that got taken off shelves pretty much immediately because spoilers ??

I don't even think Nomad is an officially used name for that version of Captain America. The fans just use it because the whole storyline is clearly inspired by the Nomad run.

The Russo brothers have referred to him as Nomad a few times in interviews and I think his chair (whatever those fabric chairs are called with the names on the back) said Chris/Nomad on the back of it, but I think it’s the comic fans who have truly made him into Nomad, that’s why I refuse to refer to him as Captain America, because he’s definitely not Captain America in IW, but this has gotten very off topic lmao, probably back to the actual topic, but thank you both for a very civilised off topic discussion ??

I only have Bag End, but I’m dying for Orthanc and a few more. Your wish for a LEGO LOTR reboot may come true sooner than you think! Next year, Amazon Prime is launching it’s LOTR prequel series - it’s one of the most expensive television deals in history - and there are already some huge names attached. JJ Abrams is advising and JA Bayona (Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom) is directing. Production began back in November but had to halt this year due to Covid19. If there was ever a reason to reboot LEGO LOTR, this would be it!

Oh the director of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom is doing the new LOTR? I won’t lie that bums me out a lot. The Jurassic World movies are absolute garbage compared to Jurassic Park. Doesn’t bode well for LOTR but would love to be proven wrong.

Alright back to HP lol

May or may not be a tad bit off-topic but I'm curious as to wether or not you guys have seen some parts or prints in the CMF that you're going to use on non-HP stuff. I'm personally planning on using Dumbledore's new face for Benjamin Lockwood from Jurassic World, it's a perfect fit! Kingsley's armprint might also be usefull to slightly improve Rescue from Marvel and Griphooks torso will surely be usefull for someone!

JA Bayona is a really good director, except when he isn't. He's made some really great movies like A Monster Calls but sorta butchered others like Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (it's still a very enjoyable film but if you look at how much extremely important stuff was cut, yeeesh!). But this is definetely getting off-topic

@Guyon2002 .. I thought about this the other day so I’ve just been studying the group pic .. there’s are some great pieces .. I only just realised Griphook’s arms have pinstripes too .. I’ll probably get a second Griphook to use the sword of Gryffindor with Godric .. Ginny’s hair reminds me of Giselle from Disney’s Enchanted .. might be useful for a custom ??

I'm in morning rush .... but i just wanna say .... i've just confirmed Dumbledore (edit: and Bellatrix) has back printing on torso and skirt pieces.

To my understanding Bayona just directed the film, while Colin Treverrow wrote the story and script, which is where most of the problems came from (in my opinion Bayona introduced some great horror touches into how the film was shot)

Theseus would be a fun character to make too, I might have a try at him too as I’m planning on a (loose) Ministry minifigure display at one point with Fudge, Umbridge, Percival Graves and Kingsley

As to the LOTR rabbit trail...believe me, nothing would bring me more joy in the world than a reboot. Hoping the Amazon series brings back enough relevance for Lego to take another look at it. I have every LOTR set and my brother has every Hobbit set. Wonderful sets, I died inside when they discontinued it.

Anyway...Harry Potter

You... shall not... go off-topic!!

/Jk   I had to say it because y’know, your username.

I’m planning on using James and Lily’s pieces for other characters. James’ pieces are useful for Hogsmeade outfits and I was thinking Lily’s torso is something Tonks would wear? :p

Oh god, that just remind me that that the only Tonks we’re getting so far is the HBP one from the Burrow! I was sure she would be included in the CMF

i guess I’ll have to customise her for OotP or Deathly Halliws but I don’t know what hairpiece I’ll use...

That’s exactly why I never made a custom Tonks, the lack of the Dastan hair in pink made me annoyed, the lack of pink hair full stop made me annoyed ?, so no Tonks to go with my custom-modified Lupin just yet ??

I actually always assumed that the CMF would include another Beauxbatons student in it, as the new mould seems out of place in a singular set. But props to Lego for making a new mould for that accuracy, just for one set.

That's one of the things I dislike from this series. The minifigures are way too specific

Ginny wearing the Howgarts robe and an interesting accesory would have been more useful. Maybe her patronus spell

Her patronus is a horse, so it could have been a foal new mould made in trans blue

But the minifigure as it is, only works to recreate a single scene out of 8 movies. And a scene where she is just like an extra

Unless she was a giveaway exclusive there’s nowhere else this Ginny could appear. Giving her a pony patronus instead of a full sized horse would be foolish and inaccurate, imo. If you want to give her a patronus just use the water horse from the Frozen 2 sets.

Whilst that would work as a custom, to actually have a patronus for Ginny (I personally think every Patronus seen in the film should be made in Lego, even Aberforth’s unseen Goat patronus) we would need a new mould because of the horse’s tail, it is too water like, which is obviously perfect for the Water horse, but not for a patronus ☺️

That's a good point actually I hadn't thought about.

I often thought that set was the odd one out.

1. It doesn't have Harry, Ron or Hermione.

2. We get new versions of 3 characters that we don't see anywhere else.

3. We get an exclusive Gabrielle Delacour which doesn't appear anywhere else.

4. As you said new moulds that don't appear anywhere else.

The Beauxbatons Carriage is an oddball set, but I’m not going to complain, since it’s also one of my favorites (it’s been a dream set for me since back when I was a little kid and the first GoF sets were released, so it was amazing to actually get it and so we’ll designed). And hopefully it will have sold well enough to reassure Lego that sets for the theme without Harry actually in them are still desirable (I think Borgin & Burke’s could work quite well as a stand-alone set and wouldn’t necessarily need Harry to be included).

I think the Beauxbatons Carriage set (which is also one of my favorites) exemplifies the shift in LEGO’s marketing strategy for Harry Potter: get more girls to buy these sets.

LEGO probably learned after the first wave’s release that girls make up a large percentage of the Harry Potter fan base and marketing some of the sets to them presents an opportunity to increase sales.

Look at both of the big new castle sets. The focus is not on conflict and action features, but rather on galas and dance parties. Same with this year’s advent calendar. Consider even the room of requirement set. That set is really all about Hermione and Luna. Why Luna and not Ron?

It’s a very smart strategy and it appears to be working, but I wonder if that’s why we have yet to see things like a big nasty troll, a basilisk, or even Fluffy. I realize I’m  perpetrating problematic gender norms here, but I think it’s safe to say that the current lineup of sets is, well, a bit girly.

No complaints from me - but I wouldn’t be surprised if next year’s sets are more focused on scenes like Fleur’s wedding than a big Battle of Hogwarts set. I hope they do strike a bit more of a balance though. Maybe we will still get the Durmstrang ship but it will be heavy on the mermaid minifigs and light on the cannon firing action features. I would be well happy with that!

Very, very interesting point. I’d like to see more battles, villains and action but this new take on Harry Potter since the reboot is what has made it feel so much different from previous waves and I’m not complaining either. It has given us much more details, rooms and character variants whereas a more action-oriented focus would’ve skipped a loooot of the HP magic we’ve gotten, I’m sure (No yule ball, a lot less casual outfits, no slug club, etc) Plus, HP in general is marketed veeery differently than Star Wars for example, a theme that focuses almost exclusively on battle and adrenaline and force blabla. You’ve left me very thoughtful here.

But yeah gimme trolls, death eaters and more combat features!

I think the HP sets were always designed to appeal to everyone because it was never a secret that the source material was devoured by girls and boys (and adults) alike, which doesn‘t happen that often in pop culture. Even major franchises like Star Wars or Marvel don‘t have an even split between genders in their fandoms, it‘s more around 60:40% I think :classic:

I mean, just take a look at the recently mentioned sets with the cardboard backgrounds from 2001 and tell me with a straight face that these were designed to exclusively appeal to boys
