broadwaybocaj Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I don’t wanna be a debbie downer but is it just me or is this past the point of a fun wait and just plain frustrating???? It better be a damn great set for this kind of build up
TheRandomBlocker Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Question seen as there isn’t much going on; would you guys be willing to pay £75 for a set that includes 1 dragon, Horntail (done better than the first task set) or the Ironbelly if it just included 1 minifigure (for the Horntail) or 3 figures (the trio for the Ironbelly) but it was as detailed and big as the Mega Construx (yes, I know, boo, hiss, all that shizz) Drogon (it’s wingspan is over double the height of the Astronomy tower)

I am so glad I’m not the only one, I’m doing a lot of research into the MC Thrones line as I’m planning on doing a full GoT display and honestly for the first time ever I would say Mega has got Lego beat, I mean it’s merch for an 18+ series which Lego never does, I think OW and Stranger Things is the closest we’ll ever get, plus the dragons (Drogon and Viserion so far) look so much more beautiful than any dragons Lego have ever released (except maybe Smaug ?)

I’d love to see your display when it’s all done. There are some awesome GoT LEGO MOCs out there right now. Nothing can really beat the MC Drogon head mold though. I think this would be a smart strategy for LEGO to test out in this line: $75+ sets that focus on the “fantastic beasts” of the Wizarding World. I would pay that much and more for a badass Horntail, Ironbelly, Basilisk, Fluffy, Mountain Troll, etc. All the set needs to feature is the creature, maybe a small build, a minifig or two, and I’m sold.

Omg, yes, I would love that, a $75 Basilisk could come with a side build of a head (Slytherin) and Harry to stand on top with the new Sword of Gryffindor as a display, that would be cool af ?

Yes! That’s exactly what I was thinking. Maybe LEGO will go this route in 2022 once it’s covered DH and can circle back to revisit the movies it’s already made sets for.

summicron Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I average about US$100 per year. Just bricklink. Haven't bought any sets in 3 years.

What I did despise though was Kre-o with their blatant rip-offs of very specific moulds even (rest in pieces!). At least MC usually create their own stuff

For students and teachers from the CMF especially that's very easy as I'm very fortunate to have quite a considerable Hogwarts built up now. Sometimes I do like to display particular minifigures together as well: I recently built the Viaduct bridge connecting the Great Hall with the sidebuild from the Astronomy Tower and used the bridge to display all my Hogwarts students I'm planning a display for the Hogwarts teachers as well at some point so it's always fun to switch the figures around! Are some of those minifigures custom? Or are they from older sets pre-2018?

Exactly. Apparently, the brand still exists, but they didn‘t have much success with their lines so far it seems The best thing to come out of it was ashens‘ review of the Transformers blind bag series Just now, Salix said: This year has been a little bit crazy in regards to that. Micmac Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Really confused by the lego cfm reveal or lack of it. If they are shipping them out around the world already you would think they would have revealed them by now. They seem to have plugged a lot of the lego leaks from factories but not their own stupidity. On the matter of the creatures I don't mind the lego built versions, they can usually be upgraded to make them better but I do think lego needs to make new creature based parts. Wings and heads are the minimum. Some new rounder parts for limbs would really help. A middle ground between the old full mould and the new brick built.
Yope Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I do wonder whether LEGO really cares about the leaks. It might be only a small minority (us) who actually see the leaks compared to the rest of their market (mainly kids) who will find out by the official images through social media etc. anyway. And even then, the leaks have churned out the majority of nearly 500 pages of hype/discussion in this forum that we keep checking for updates. It's effectively free marketing and it's certainly worked on me as I've now just about convinced myself I need every set this wave!

That being said, if they're not supposedly meant to be released until 1st September, you'd think Lego could wait until at least mid-August to ship. Unless Lego wants them to leak this way then something has gone wonky. ? 41 minutes ago, Yope said: I do wonder whether LEGO really cares about the leaks. They do seem to have worked on reducing leaks and from what I've heard leakers get cracked down on hard (poor old @TheRandomBlocker lost his job for instance) so I think they do care. I'd say the driving force though is to stop copy cat companies rather than our small community of hard core fans discussing things. Unfortunately for us though we lose out, as like you say the leaks just increase the excitement. I think the leaks give a sense of community, that community makes you feel part of something and so then you want to invest more in it. Take that away and like @broadwaybocaj says you can become a bit frustrated. There's a fine balance between not wanting to know everything beforehand and then feeling despondent because there seems to be nothing much leaking. That being said, if we think about it the fact that we even know about the CMF and DA are big leaks in themselves as the average consumer won't even know they are coming yet. Nikiforosdallas Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 (edited) Hello everyone. I'm new to eurobricks and I just wanted to say that @lego_fans_news_ on instagram has said that we might see something this week about Diagon Alley. He also said that new information about the set will be coming very soon (he said maybe today ). He also said that there will be 6-12 figures. Of course that would be complitely wrong but since he leaked the cmf and the star wars figures, I think he is reliable. Edited August 6, 2020 by Nikiforosdallas
Bugbot20082 Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I have a thought experiment we could do to pass the time: We have seen in series 2 that along with the main trio Neville, Luna and Dumbledore each got another spot. So what if LEGO has decided that they are such fan favourites that like the trio they will always be represented in the CMF going forward? So how many CMF viable versions of Luna, Dumbledore and Neville can we think of? What would be their outfits and accessories? I’lltry first: Neville: Flying lesson, Hogwarts robes, Broom, remembrall Luna: Barefoot casual cloathes, Baby Thestral Dumbledore: White outfit, ‘baby’ Voldermort soul.

He stole someone else’s content (@lucky_lego_store from Romania) and posted it without giving any credit. Like so many other “LEGO leakers” he just recycles content that he finds on other people’s accounts and tries to pass himself off as someone who has “insider info.” The only genuine “LEGO leaker” for the Harry Potter series that I have ever seen is @TheRandomBlocker. If we do get some additional info on Diagon Alley today, I will be thrilled, but I am not giving any credit to @lego_fans_news for making a lucky guess. To be honest I really want to see the set even if it is leaked. I think lego won't reveal it until probably the second or third week of August. I want to see the set leaked first. So that we know what it is about what the minifigures are and what the buildings are. Then they could reveal ot in a huge event and be the best lego set reveal ever. And we probably won't see anything today. I hope we will but I'm not getting my hopes up.
