Yea Ninjago City is example of a set that feels alive and crowded. I know it’s a high bar to expect DA to do the same, but yea.

I think it’s partially my fault because I put a lot of expectations on this set, especially as it’s been the thing I’ve been looking forward to for months. Now that it’s hear I’m a bit down :(

Any ideas on who the Lego designer could be of this set? Could it be Justin Ramsden?

I think it’s Marcos Bessa based on it’s similarities to the Disney sets but who knows.

No matter who it is I hope they know how much we love it! It’s clear how much care has been put into it.

The set is incredible! I love that we’re getting Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff Quidditch robes and I’m sure they’ll appear in a cheaper set next year. I agree that 14 figures seems a bit low, but I was always expecting 10-15 anyway. Sure, other licensed D2Cs have had more figures, but they’re also overpriced. Does anyone here really think Cloud City is worth $350 or the Death Star is worth $500? I certainly don’t, and I’d much rather have LEGO invest in the build than in the figures. It’s nice to get Molly, Lockhart, and Lucius even if they’ve got some drawbacks. I’m also curious about the missing Harry, though.

Yeah I kinda feel the same way. I was actually super excited for this set, but it feels like a lot of mostly empty rooms with not enough minifigures to fill them up. Diagon Alley is supposed to be a crowded, bustling place. This is a great modular creator set. But I'm just not feeling it as a Harry Potter set.

And yeah, Ninjago City is a super high bar to live up to, but still. That set was $100 less. This set feels good... but I'm not blown away.

(The Lucius minifigure is a huge step up though, he looks beautiful!!)

I think what it is with the minifigures is that, Fred and George, the figures are solely based on recreating COS content, and moreover it then feels like just the one scene inside F&B because you can already get Hagrid elsewhere. Even then, Arthur isn't included and he feels more necessary to the scene than Molly to me - it's his altercation with Lucius that I remember from the movies and the books.

Overall, I personally feel that the set really needed some more figures from HBP to pose inside WWW with Fred and George. WWW doesn't even exist when the majority of the characters in their included form are in DA so it creates a disjointedness in my eyes to pose them anywhere near WWW.

For the Lego description to then say, 'the model captures the scale and ambience of the bustling magic-supplies hub' is a bit of a stretch for me. :sceptic:

I'd say Marcos Bessa as he is meant to be doing the elusive Q&A.

I'm definitely going to place the CMF Series 2 figures for the trio inside WWW. At least until we get a D2C Hogsmeade (as that's where they would actually belong).

I have a feeling it's just the box art that doesn't do it justice. We can judge it way better when we see official pictures and/or have it in front of us.

This set is beautiful, no doubt I will be getting it. However, I’m not feeling the minifigures so far; clearer pictures might change my opinion. I don’t know if they look dull, or repetitive, or lacking detail... can’t say.

The year 1 harry might appear in either a polybag, a GWP or a book that focuses exclusively on DA?

The main reason I wish they officially revealed it is so we could have a proper discussion and hear the reactions of everyone in the Lego industry! Right now it feels weirdly quiet for such a megaton drop.

I think this set is going to be so fun to add to, street lights and mini figures and LED lights will make this set really pop! And of course expansions :moar:

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it: I think we are getting another set. Wasn’t an HP - 4 code already found? I think all signs are pointing to us getting Borgin and Burke’s this year. It would explain the missing Harry minifig and the technical holes behind Knockturn Alley. And it would tie in perfectly to the Burrow’s floo powder fireplace. Am I crazy? I would be so stoked for a surprise Borgin and Burke’s!

Okay, it was utterly pointless for LEGO to include the Daily Prophet Offices as all they've made is a door. The 'interior' is just a cobweb and a newspaper.

To be fair, the door is all we ever see of it, so there's not much to base an inside on. I dont blame TLG for not including a bigger interior for a newspaper office because it doesn't really need one imo.

I think that would be cool but my wallet doesn't

If they do release a B&B, even if it’s next year, how are we supposed to display the set? I hope to see a Gringotts or Leaky Cauldron first just because it’ll add to the set horizontally for us displaying it in one direction.

Okay, out of curiosity... if you could add/change 3 things to this set, what would it be?

Mine:

1. Add more alley props to make it look funkier (animals, signs, boxes, you name it)

2. Add arthur with his wizard hat

3. Give lockhart a new hairpiece

B&B wouldn't make sense with the leaked minifigure because the torso is from Philosopher's Stone. Even though it would be meant to go with DA, they wouldn't include a torso that doesn't match that particular set.

However, I have a feeling you're onto something here. I was doubtful at first, but now I'm thinking HP-4 might be a DA entrance GWP with that minifigure.

My main fear with including the Quidditch shop was that it would be kind of lame to get a shop full of outdated Fabuland brooms.

Now that I've seen the final product... Yeah, it looks kind of lame to have a shop peddling Fabuland Brooms.

I mean, it makes no sense to me that they'll create a special box for wands to recreate one scene, but they won't give us a proper riding broom.

Looking a little more at the pictures I feel like they could have extended the pavement a little more but otherwise it’s pretty good.

1. Use the thicker base plates.

2. More characters from HBP like what they did with the death star including variants from the different movies.

3. Rita Skeeter...

Kind of fitting for that lousy tabloid though

Agreed on all three accounts  But their absence doesn‘t inform my opinion on this set in the slightest, just would have been nice to have :shrug_oh_well:
